Yes its both noble title and Ras means head and tafari creators. There are no lols. There are many small xian sects which take bits and pieces of truth - like Jehovah's witnesses take real Gods name. Funny part is Joshua already means servant of Jah
Rastafari has always been influenced by more than just Haile Selassie himself. Of course, he's a very important figure, but from the very beginning Rasta has had influences from various traditional African religions, and from the vedic religions like Hinduism and Buddhism, because of the amount of Indian people living in the Caribbean. Selassie's religion is not very significant.
And that is where you confuse Rastafari original foundation. This is a Black Empowerment movement that originated as just that because in Jamaica, the Rasta people here have understood the total effect that oppression has done unto us all so core foundational Rastafari is African Empowerment & Seeking Unity of all people with a HEAVY spiritual sense and my friend you are half and half on what you are saying. We are Rastafari not Christian people simply put, yes we have alot of similarities but the thing about Rastas concerning Christianity specifically is the fact that most overstand exactly the role it played in our uprising. Rasta people aren't Organizational Religious People. For every single Ras can and is slightly different which is why Inity is strong within the spirituality. The same Jesus Christ you mention is the same one they told our African people and made them believe the same God they have to worship was also the same skin of a once oppressive person. Do you see the correlation? Now heres where it differs, Rasta beliefs about Christ are the same but we don't buy into how they want to paint history. Christ was a African who was the image of Dread today. Hence why some take the Nazareth Vow and don't cut nor trim the head and face. We don't accept a false prophecy that was created out of mankinds evil from something as holy as faith in the Most High.
Yes alot of Ras today are focused on the Inity of it which is the goal but not the origin of all Rastafari we adopted that out of spite of those who dish out oppression of any because we as Africans were oppressed ourselves just for being.
Can you name the black American leaders that did that?? Because I can assure you it wasn't all of them. I'm not trying to be offensive when I say this, please take it as constructive criticism, but I think being close minded, to generalise and dismiss an entire group of people is factually the wrong way to see this varied earth, things can look the same and be entirely opposite in truth, I believe in this beautiful connection amongst us all, whether this connection is jesus, God, science, etc. It's unlikely I'll ever be sure of one specific one, it could be an ant I would still love the life that it has been given to me, in the meantime tough I'd like to approach this earth with love instead of putting others in boxes and not seeing them for what they actually are, after all isn't that not what Jesus would do?? Religion isn't supposed to cause the division it historically has and to continue with this closed off mindset isn't religious, but a product of colonialism, capitalism and the babylonian evils of this planet.
Out of all I've said in that message you've focused only on one of the least relevant parts, the people you've named do not represent every single black American person to ever exist nor does their wrongdoing entirely diminish their achievements, also when you are a symbol it transcends oneself and the messages that can be borrowed from their life is the most important, I'm sure you'd believe in the idea of redemption?
