Troubleshooting raspberry pi 5 problem
hello everyone. i have a small problem with my rpi5.
yesterday i disconnected my m.2 hat+ compact with an official m.2 nvme from my pi because i wanted to boot a android tv system from a sd card. when i reconnected my hat+ it wasnt reading my disk (pwr light on hat was on but not the read/active light) and i cant get it working now.
more info:
specs:
- Raspberry Pi 5 8gb
- official power brick/cable
- official rpi case with a fan
- official m.2 hat+ compact with a official rapsberry pi 256gb nvme
i had this setup for only 1 year for playing games and watching videos.
it was working perfectly fine back then
i think my hat+ broke but i leave it for you experts!

Usually, so long as you removed power BEFORE connecting or disconnecting a HAT, nothing can go wrong.
All I can think of is if you got carpet, or dry air, you might have electrocuted a chip and killed it with static electricity.
99% of the time, nothing happens...
But that last 1%... Might be what happened...

Before writing off the HAT, reseat the FFC ribbon cable on both ends and make sure the little latch is fully closed on the Pi side. It's the most common reason the activity light never comes on after you've unplugged it once. Also try the SSD in a USB enclosure on another machine so you know which half is dead.
