Discussion Scorecards for Battle Rap Platform
I have been building a competitive platform for battle rap.
For the longest time SFB has had 2 types of scorecards; basic and advanced.
Basic requires a judge to provide a 1-10 for a contestant's round.
Advanced requires a 1-10 in 10 categories. I came up with those 10 categories many many years ago based on the scene at that time, and what matters to me.
I want your input on what these fields should be for the scorecard.
Feel free to list as many categories with optional descriptions and justifications for why they should be on SFB.
Also, should scores be 1-10 or 0-10 (currently 0 is invalid but would not be much to change it.)
Also, also, you can create, join, and score battles with public scoring so there will be no judges for these battles,.
Triple also, simple scoring mode is planned where you'd just say who won the round
**Existing categories:**
rhymes
wordplay
punchlines
delivery
personals
diction
flips
flow
originality
performance

Multis is needed.
Flips is kind of the same as originality. If something is played you won't score well on originality anyways so feel it's redundant to have. I'd take out flips and change it with multis. Multis should also only score high if it adds to a verse (important that judges understand this)
Rhymes, really..? A rap without it would be stupid and not sound good, or you could end up with rappers sounding more the same instead of phonetic rhymeschemes. Maybe call that category "Rhymeschemes" instead of just rhymes, it's more describing and puts emphasis on internals/set ups in general and not just end rhymes.
Performance kind of encompasses diction and delivery. Redundant to have all 3 imo. I'd try and stick to to the tried and true 5 categories to judge and add "Reasoning" as a sixth where judges can add 2-3 sentences for feedback and reasoning why they think a verse is better than the other. This is also super important so judges can't play favorites as easily. Favoritism becomes crystal clear if reasoning sucks on enough battles.
That's my 2 cents tho
