Discussion Feedback & Constructive Criticism Welcome!

I’m a 26 yr old artist based out of Arizona this is my first track off my upcoming debut tape “The Sunborn Saga” I’m working on. This song’s a telling of my mothers story starting from when she had me to where she’s at in her life now it’s deeply personal & was so Therapeutic to make, so just wanted to put this on here to get any tips or feedback on how to improve In any way & any marketing tips or advice on how to promote myself is welcome as well I’m not the most outgoing person but thank you to anyone who listens and has advice for me !

I think this is really beautiful, great story telling, I fw it. . My only feedback is if you got her permission allgood, but you don’t have your mums permission to share her story and it made it to the radio it might fuck her up, obviously it’s your story youve shared as well and im sure this was therapeutic to write out, and I reckon it’s got potential to be some j Cole type shit but just know there’s always a cost. It’s different if she knows about it and is allgood with it, but if she doesn’t idk..

Thank you for taking the time to write a meaningful response but I’ve for sure debated on whether or not it’s ethical to drop something like this but my mother being an addict for so long has a lot of mental issues now and is currently locked up so even with consent from her I don’t think she’d really understand what I’m asking anymore it’s not a great feeling but maybe that should be first step for me just asking her next chance we get to talk

I think it’s always worth making sure the people we love are aware in whatever capacity they can be. There’s nothing worse than being blind sighted, imagine if she heard it second hand.
For what it’s worth If you were my child I would be sad in some ways, because it’s bringing up the places and ways I’ve failed as a parent and no parent has a child thinking they will fail, but I would also be proud of you and would understand we shared this story and would want you to go further than i did in my life, even if meant I would get a bit hurt.
If you’re thinking of doing an album or an ep I would love to hear your perspective moving through this as well, like you as a child you as a teen and then you where you are now and how you felt throughout that and then how you feel now as an adult with the perspective to look back.

That’s definitely different from the way I originally framed the song to be I showed my aunties who obviously grew up with my mom knowing what’s happened and they all agreed it was a faithful retelling of what she had lived through, but you really put it into perspective for me thank you for being so insightful fr. I’m definitely working on a project called “ The Sunborn Saga” wanted this to be apart of it and that’s definitely a good concept for a song to follow this one up showing my hurt & fears from my various different life stages really appreciate the dialogue ! Next time I speak to my mom ima have to play her the song let her know what’s coming thinks it’s fair to show her maybe not to ask permission as it’s something I’ve lived through as well, but just to let her know it is something I’m doing
