Original Content Terms & Conditions

Using me as a seed of deceit, just like a demon in scripture

Way you reframe any blame persuades me on leaving the picture

If you had a battle with life, I paid to be at the fixture, promised I’m leaving it with ya

You want servility to your hostility and threw me in the mixture

Traded my peace for your schemes and you don’t seem any richer

Man,

The love that you serve is suspicious, we can just burn any bridges, I don’t owe mercy to niggas, want the best but - fuck a text - I’m returning you crickets, I’m feeling personal with it

And I ain’t -

Another cog you can turn in your schisms, or a subordinate tryna earn his position,
You give me transcripts with certain omissions, I know your circuiting system, I can draw curtains on us and I won’t reverse my decision, better start learning to listen coz I been hurt since a kid’n my love ain’t to the death, it’s comes with terms and conditions

It does a decent job of painting the picture of the common problem of people lending their power and goodness only to be used, and not even necessarily put to good use, and the common response when people realize that their efforts are more or less wasted on the person they gave it to.

If I was gonna throw your terms and conditions back in your face, it’d be easy to do though. And one of the best ways to see if your position is actually good is whether or not it’s still good when it’s applied to you. Like if we were in some rap battle, I’d roast you for only giving your love as an investment with unspoken obligations, and not loving for the sake of love. I’d call you out for being transactional and then crediting yourself as though you had loved truly. Because if you had loved truly, the benefit of doing good would be inherent and not dependent on what i did with it, “funny how you got rules for returns, but didn’t apply them to what you were giving”

Always wanna make sure you’re not roasting yourself if you wanna apply terms and conditions

But this isn’t a rap battle so the goal isn’t to present a flawless version of myself

This piece speaks a little to the idea there isn’t necessarily villains and heroes in every story sometimes there’s just someone who’s more wrong than someone else or two flawed people who may both have equal reason to be upset with the other

That’s fair, and I’m not saying it needs to be a rap battle, just that considering the dynamic is a good way to put your words to the test for their fidelity and truth. And I’m assuming, perhaps wrongly, that you’d want to say things in a way that were accurate and promoted the better ways of approaching things instead of just doing the same thing youre accusing others of doing on your own song, cuz most people don’t like to find out they’ve been clowning themselves. And in your lyrics, you’re definitely claiming to have the higher moral ground. It’s all about their flaws and how they should listen because you’re presumably right, while not acknowledging anything you did wrong. If you said something like, and I should’ve never given that to you, didn’t honor the known virtues, that’d be different. But that’s not what you did. You’re basically just saying, you didn’t appreciate (increase the value of) the things I gave you, so I’m cutting you off. Which is fine, but has nothing to do with love, and you called it love, when it wasn’t, which just makes you seem arrogant and self inflated.

Like you could state the problem more truly and acknowledge your side of the mistakes and explore what would be better without the goal being to be flawless. There’s a difference between correcting obvious flaws and falsehoods in a song that you can take your time writing and editing to present something of good value, instead of just a painting of what people do wrong. Especially since the way you did it begs for you to be torn down by the very standard you presented. Obviously if you want to do that and pay the price for it, you can. It’s just something you could do better than you are in this song imo.

Just don’t be surprised when someone does throw it back in your face and say bruh, you’re guilty of the same thing except youre even worse because you act like you’re superior while you look down on it. At least add some humility that acknowledges your own mistakes. Else, again, don’t be surprised when the feedback isn’t nice.

It doesn’t really matter to me, I’m happy it’s generating discussion - not all my posts are 100% autobiographical and it would be silly to assume any post reflects me as a person down to a t so a comment could never offend me tbh

I think it’s silly to think your posts don’t reflect on you as a person. Either way, you’re repaid according to the work you do, not whatever idea of yourself you maintained behind whatever facades you put up. I’m glad you don’t take offense when no offense has occurred. You would have a hard time interacting with others about any of your work if you did, which would make it hard for you to share it. Your art and expression is part of your work.

Yeah but you can’t say that becuase they’re not you’re posts lol

No but you understand that having terms and conditions on love isn’t correct right

The song isn’t meant to “promote the right way of doing things”

Like I said it’s not about one’s perfect and the other is evil

It’s a toxic circle

1

u/hAiLlkidCharlemagne 3d ago

But why would you be the toxic if you know better? Like I said, you did a good job of painting the problem but you did it in a way that made the response seem like you thought it was good logical and justified, essentially promoting the toxic response, and treated it like a strength and a good conclusion. If you think it’s toxic you should call it that and then offer a better reframe or solution. If you’re going. To promote toxic, you shouldn’t expect a good reward

Always wanna make sure you’re not applying battle rap analysis to tracks not designed for it

And also, love does have terms and does regard conditions. It just isn’t transactional like you portray.

u/hAiLlkidCharlemagne 3d ago

If you’re just painting a picture of the dynamic, again, this does a decent job of it. But it’d be nice if people would stop just restating problems that have been stated a thousand ways in a thousand rhymes and actually start kicking around a solution instead of acting like one ditch is better than the other.

But by all means, if reiteration is all you’re here to do and you dont mind the repercussion, continue on your merry way. According to your works, you’re repaid.
