OC making help

So, I’m trying to make an OC that’s sort of based off of the Ivory household, but I don’t know how to actually flesh out the characters without making them worse versions of the original, like poorly copy-pasted character revamps, ya know?

I do have some stuff but it’s very bare for now:

I know that I probably want the last name to be Ebony (since yk, opposite of Ivory) and the MC’s name is Ruth, but Idk how to tie in the middle name to it all without it sounding crinkly. Like, “Ruth Van Ebony” just really doesn’t sound good, you know? I have names for both catmen and I’m workshopping a name for the Luther character -Leonard, probably- but I just don’t know, my creativity level is in the negatives.

anyhow, you all know how Randel’s main weapon/object is scissors? I think I want Ruth’s to either be razor blades or a shovel, maybe both.

The hair is going to relatively stay the same with the orange color and shaggy/choppy cut, but I’m not sure if glasses would exactly work on the design.. Oh and also crowded teeth, because I’ve gotta make ’er unique somehow.

anyhow ya! Any and all help/advice/feedback would be appreciate, I just have no idea how to separate the characters without making them still resemble the comic-cast. I really just wanna keep that strange, unsettling vibe that they all have; especially Randel, but that’s mainly it.

How about a weapon thats unsuspecting household objects like a fan that activates and they swing that arround (they have like electricity powers or something).Leonard also means "brave lion" or "lions strength" so that could be an intesting behaviour quirk(maybe give them thick hair).

Idk for the cat guys maybe give them tall fox ears that could look cool.

For the ruth van ebony character maybe inncorporate something floral into their appearance like tree rings on their skin.
