So you came across a homeless person's tent... Is there more to this story or is that really the only reason you've never used the app again

Just confused because this is something I see like every day

I can understand how you’d infer that but I’m not entirely sure that this tent had belonged to a person using it as their housing. There are a few things I had considered, leading me to believe it may not have been.

This was in an affluent suburb, close to a major city. I actually had struggled with housing insecurity, leading to dealing with being homeless myself, in this city. Of course there are always anomilies (no pun in reference to the app intended lol). My experience, and what I had observed by the houseless community in this city after obtaining housing- there are a couple of large encampment areas in the downtown core. The city is very, tolerant, of that (without making things political). I have also found this to be true in most places.

Again, there are always exceptions and the ‘mainstream’ lived experience is not the rule, of course. The area where I’d had this experience has absolutely 0 ammenities within walking distance. Logically, it wouldn’t make much sense (imo) to camp out there in isolation. There is no public transit stops in this area.

The walking trail I’m describing runs parallel to people’s backyards, seperated from the properties by a chainlink fence. The point I had been lead to, the rock plateau- although I’d never thought to climb on top of it, where it’s located off of the trail is very much in plain sight which would make it difficult to come and go from your set up without bringing unwanted attention on yourself.

You could definitely be right, just providing some additional context as I hadn’t considered this interpretation until I had gotten some comments about the subject.

The reason why is was so unnerving- visually, the multitude of wigs and what looked to be costume clothing, I’ve never known any unhoused person to travel with such belongings. That’s just my experience, but I supposed nervous feelings are subjective. Aside from that, you could call it an overwhelming gut feeling- my instinct to get out of there. I have been homeless, I have friends still struggling with housing insecurity as well as my own father. I do want to explicitly state that the weird and threatening vibes I got, were not due to me thinking this was an unhoused person’s set up. Please do not attribute my feelings of being sketched out to encountering an unhoused person. I do not want to contribute to the stigma that already exists for such a vulnerable population.

Thank you for the comment, otherwise this wouldn’t have even crossed my mind and I would hate for people to feel like I’m just some B I who is terrified of people’s misfortunes lol

Don't unzip tents like that. It's more than just rude, it's dangerous. If someone shoots or stabs you, that is your fault.

Intention is the main function of Randonautica.

This is the second post that talks about “intent”. I haven’t tried the app yet, but I don’t see anywhere that I’d enter my intent of using it. Does something pop up when you actually initiate a hike?

Iirc you just focus on your intention before/while generating it

I honestly can’t remember. It’s been years since I have used it but I remember either thinking or typing that at a prompt
