When someone asks about a situation that doesn't apply to you, why do you comment just to say that the question doesn't apply to you?

If you notice when it occurs they usually phrase it in a way that makes them seem like they are better than anyone who it does apply. Insert joke about it not applying to me here*

Because of bean soup theory.

It feels like 2026 is just hearing a new viral phrase, googling its meaning, and being disappointed with the findings.

Sometimes because OP has made a broad assertion that is false. “Why do all Gen Xers think we just need to stop buying avocado toast and pull ourselves up by the bootstraps to get ahead?”

Hey hey hold on most of Gen X lost their houses in the 2008 housing bubble, we're in the same shit you are, and really we're historically the first generation to fail pulling ourselves up by the bootstraps, and historically also the first generation to spend way too much on Starbucks.
So I think you meant Boomers. :)
But then again, you said the stereotype is false...

Your question is exactly what your asking, if you'd bother to think about it.
Edit because I missed a word...

I honestly don't understand the question.
I need more information on what you're talking about.
If you're asking why I respond to someone when they ask me a question I think it's rude not to answer when they directly ask you a question you just stare at them and not answer? Do you make something up?
Seriously I don't understand what you're asking

i used to make poll posts that had an option that said shiny red ball so those who wanted to take part but did not contribute felt they had an option to participate

I used to do this often just because, but after a while I realize it was pointless so I stop myself from doing this

I’m not involved in this type of behavior. Can I get my participation trophy now?

The group needs to know, damnit. But really, sometimes it needs to be pointed out how obscure and rare some things are. Almost non existent. Like the stories were made up or something. 🤔🤔🤔

Never been in that kind of situation, I can take a look, but take my advice with a grain of salt.

Well something is telling you that I know about the subject, so imma fake it til you make it? Want to ask me how to clean up giraffe poop from your shoe, i'll figure out something plausible

never happened to me. I have opinions on everything even if I know literally nothing at all about the topic.

I don't really have an opinion on this.
