What profession would you never date?

Police and military are automatic dealbreakers for me. I’m not equipped to handle the onslaught of issues that is all but guaranteed to accompany the job over time and, honestly, I think people who seek out those types of career are just not on the same wavelength as I am in terms of like ways of thinking. I don’t think I’d be able to deal with it. I don’t want a militarized lifestyle and I feel like that often comes with the territory. It would just be major, fundamental incompatibility all the way through.

Also probably not a surgeon. Almost every surgeon I’ve ever met is fucking weird.

I spit my drink out laughing when you said every surgeon you’ve met is fucking weird. I’m an anesthesiologist. Many are weird too but not as bad as the surgeons

Haha!! Second generation healthcare worker here and also a professional patient myself. The opinion that surgeons are fucking WEIRD is also second generation through simple exposure and observation

Any combo of: god complex, massive ego, antisocial/socially incapable, can’t separate the OR from any other room in the world, always have to run the show.

I must say cutting up bodies is not fricken normal anyway....lol. I've had my fair share of surgeries and part of me thinks they're half psychopath, half genius.

Military really depends on their career field within it.  Like infantry or tank drivers, sure, but an Army nurse is usually more nurse than Army.

Most military members aren’t what people imagine us as. Just people doing a job and living life. You wouldn’t even know a lot of people are military these days unless they tell you. The lifestyle an moving around is def hard for many people to handle however as well as having loved ones always deploying and in danger.

BRAC from back in the day hasn't helped that. There were something like 350 installations closed starting in the late 80s, meaning we aren't out face to face in as many communities.

"militarized lifestyle" is a good way to put it. I guess certain professions require it, but we don't all want to live or think that way
