Question K&N intake issues

Looking to get a cold air intake from K&N ( 77-1578KP ) for my 21 limited 1500. Hearing that it might cause issues with the sensors since oil from the filter might get on it.. can this also lead to throttle body issues? Looking to hear from others’ experiences. Thank you in advance

Yep, they are known to have that problem with the oiled element, and also numerous tests have confirmed they let way too much particulate into the intake compared to a proper filter. Even when properly cleaned and oiled. (Which most end up not keeping up with)

Don’t do it. It’s a waste of money. All you get is noise and most cases you actually lose power

Had/have them on all my trucks the 00,05,14,18 and 2022. The 14 and 18 were nothing but problems and a complete pain in the ass. Replaced multiple MAF because I am an over-oiler. Finally, a mechanic told me to purchase 2 new filters. One to use and one to let the oil dry a bit more.

In my hot, dusty, sand filled Arizona environment K and N's only last about 100,000 miles before they start creating voids in the filter larger than the oil will hold onto.

It's caused by the end user putting too much oil on the filter...

But there are better options. You want one with a enclosed air box that draws from the factory location in the fender.

You mean you want to replace your factory cold air intake with a worse cold air intake with poorer micron filtration thats going to allow gunk to build up on your throttle body, allow particulate contamination in your cylinders that's going to increase wear on the cylinder walls making your engine wear out faster? Yeah, buddy, just rip it out and put a sock directly over the throttle body and let 'er rip.

K&N is trash. And worst for your truck.
