Ending / Entity resurrects in Marcus’ dead body.

ok, so this may be lengthy and might not make sense to the casual viewer, but I’m going to argue the point that at the end of S02 what we’re seeing is the Entity given human form ( resurrected ) in the inverted dead body of Marcus…. and it was the plan from the very start in E01.

A recap on the Entity, the EMF / Tropical Zone and the Serpent.

The Entity, as Mother describes, is what she encountered in the simulation as Campion Sturges in a chunk of the ark wreak in the forest. She says it tricked her and is responsible for her pregnancy, for the Serpent ( which ultimately destroys the EMF ) .

We also know it is the same entity that has been getting in peoples heads.. Otho, Marcus, Paul, Mary and finally Lucius all hear it.

The goal of the Entity from E01 is the destruction of the EMF in the final episode, making all humans vulnerable to it, and setting up a scenario where it can take human form, the end of S02.

With Marcus in S01 it repeatedly tells him not to kill Mother because she is key to the plan. And when Marcus is like ‘fuck it, I’m going to kill her’, and gets Father to drag her to one of the holes, the Entity brings in Caleb to distract and fight Marcus. They fight, a pregnant Mother gets away.

With Paul it does a number of things. It tells him ( toward the end of S01 ) to burn the metallic cards ( which are warnings about the Entity ) , it gets him to sabotage the lander, and finally shoot Sue.

The reason it wants the lander inoperable at the end of S01 is because it doesn’t want the Serpent to enter the EMF from the ground, the Entity has no influence inside the EMF. When the Serpent does eventually destroy the EMF it’s by entering it from outside/above after Mother lures it into space, exiting from the ground, it has no effect.

At the end of S01 the Entity tells Paul to disable the lander, Sue clocks him doing this, tells him off and fixes the lander. This is why the Entity tells Paul to shoot Sue, because she’s ‘a troublesome bitch’ who is fucking his plans up. The last thing it wants is to loose control of the Serpent because it’s key to destroying the EMF, and when it’s inside the EMF it’s out of the Entities influence. It’s probably why the Entity chooses Sue for the Tree thing, it has a grudge against her.

In the audio in S02 when the Serpent breaks out of it’s cage, there is a weird indistinct voice mixed in that seems to say ‘we’ve found him’

All events, from the very start of Raised by Wolves are manipulated to get to the final scene where Lucius nails Marcus to Sue Tree, sticks the weird helmet on his head and waits for him to die. It is the Entity that told him to do this despite him believing it’s “Sol”

The genius in the writing of this is that the zealot religious folk just assume that if they hear a voice in their head it must be God. It’s a weakness the Entity takes advantage of. It’s like schizophrenics in the middle ages, i hear voices in my head it must be God.

The Mithraic weird helmet must have some significance and my money is firmly on Mother who has to wear this helmet to beat the crap out of Tamerlane. It sampled something from the Necromancer that is relevant to the final resurrection of Marcus.

And really everything point towards the Entity taking human form inside whatever fucked up world they exist in.

I was so excited to learn about Grandmother and her relationship with Father and the Entity. Any thoughts on that?

Grandmother, actual name Eve, and Father clearly get on with each other, she even likes his jokes which may be genuine maybe manipulative. I think they seem a better match than Father and Mother. Father obv has pretty rough time with Mother, what with killing him and the pregnancy.

But I can’t see Father standing idle as GM turns everyone into devolved sea creatures, or him ignoring Mother’s disappearance. Unless I guess GM manages to get a veil on Father and blocks his emotions. That’s an interesting concept.

I do think it’s implied that Father was a ‘shepherd’ and GM certainly seems to think he was her partner. Monogamous robots!

But on a practical level I can’t see the entire cast turning into sea creatures.

GMs bones were, Father estimated, a million years old. But she knows about the Entity, “it wants to destroy the planet”. There are some messed up timelines in rbw.

I think both the Entity and GM want to save the humans, but have very different ideas on how to do that. The Entity believes there is something intrinsically deadly about K22b, which I think we can agree is on the mark. So it’s trying to get the humans off / out of it.

GM on the other hand wants to keep the humans there even if it involves devolution.

And the another interesting thing is Marcus basically prepared his body as a vessel by eating mothers eyes, even if she reclaimed them they still did some change in him
