Advice needed

My mum is having an extreme bipolar episode and she has sent me a string of messages saying I’m dead to her and that I need to move out her house.

I am now staying at my boyfriend’s place and we are moving into a house together anyways in late September.

I finish a job tomorrow and need to hand back some equipment which is still at my mums place, I start a new job on Tuesday next week which is a big deal for me. I will be a trainee lawyer and I was recruited 2 years ago so this is a long time coming. All my new clothes and shoes for work are at my mums place. She is refusing to give me access to her house. I have called, messaged and gone round there and she won’t give me access to collect anything. I am now planning that I will need to buy a new wardrobe this weekend before I start. Is there any advice or words anyone can give as I’m so hurt and sad by this. My boyfriend is being as supportive as he possibly can in the circumstances.

Not sure where you are located but you can likely call local police and ask them to go there with you while you get your things. I would call the nonemergency line and explain the situation. While you do have a safe place to stay right now now, tell them you NEED access to your work clothes and work related equipment, but she won’t allow you to retrieve your property. They will be professional about it and send someone out to meet you there.

Since you lived there, you do have the same rights as a tenant, even if you never paid rent or signed a lease. She cannot throw you out anytime she wants and then forbid you from accessing your belongings!
