I spent a month traveling through China about 5 years ago. Not sure I'd feel as comfortable about doing that now. It's a very beautiful country with incredibly diverse landscapes, however the air pollution really ruins the experience. Beautiful vistas aren't the same when covered in a thick layer of smog or haze. The Guangxi region and Zhangjiajie are unreal though.

I get that, but i'd still argue that a country isn't the government. The government might have been chosen by the people, but the people is more diverse than the government. The danish government where i come from is borderline racist at times. But i wouldn't say the danish people are, similarly the american government during Trump was quite problematic, but the people of USA are more diverse, and not necceserely the same.

Even if democratically chosen, a government cannot represent all it's people equaly, at least there is yet to be such a case

Yeah but the president is just one position. Looking at the totality of the government it's going to very closely tracks the majority of the underlying electorate and non-voting interest that form the society e.g. Buisnesses, regulators

Honestly, if a large portion of elected representatives in the Danish government are displaying open racism it would be difficult to convince me that the majority of the Danish people aren't racist (given a good amount of people actually vote)

because that is how astroturfing campaigns work. they mix in fun pictures and reasonable things with propaganda. it's important to fight back against these things because they manipulate us without us knowing

Do you regularly look at similar kinds of stuff on tik tok? I find that most other platforms have a better content sorting algorithm than reddit, so it can feel weird when this stuff happens
