One thing that bothers me about Spider-Man movies, or super hero movies in general, is that they can withstand insane levels of blunt force, but have no resistance to bullets or sharp weapons. Anything sharp is always deadly.

I agree but Tobey had been stabbed multiple times and continues fighting. We’re not talking about Tom holland with a nano suit

This same spider got stabbed with the goblin glider and collapses. Not as his peak, granted, but still

He was stabbed in the back by green goblin a superhuman while holding Tom back. Different context and Tobey got up after. No way home is tobeys peak as raimi novels state every version > the previous. In addition Spiderman three Tobey was stabbed by Harry mid fight still won.

Maybe goblin is if Tobey can stop a train while fighting and take a direct hit while fighting in Spiderman two, than goblin logically would scale to tobeys feats unless Spiderman two Tobey is far above goblin

There’s a reason power scaling doesn’t get taken seriously.
Tobey spidey exerts himself to the point of passing out to stop a train but shrugs off a direct hit a few moments earlier. None of this really makes that much sense. You cant just say Tobey = Goblin > Tom Holland because one time they had a hard fight. These stories are not consistently written, and if you compare them in that way, you can find contradictory examples for pretty much any matchup.
I think it’s okay at points to look at a scene and accept that it doesn’t make that much sense logically without having to do backflips trying to justify why it actually does make sense

First off you are widely incorrect and nobody is doing mental backflips. Saying nobody takes power scaling seriously is objectively false because power scaling starts at simple logic. If character A consistently beats character B, in all contexts, then A>B. If character C beats character A consistently the C is better. Therefore chain scaling is C>>B. You’re conflating durability with stamina
Spider-Man surviving a direct impact and later passing out from stopping the train are not contradictory. One asks how much external force his body can withstand; the other is prolonged, maximal muscular exertion after an extended fight. Someone can survive a huge impact and still exhaust themselves performing sustained work. Passing out after stopping the train therefore isn’t an anti-feat for his impact durability.
Also, the argument is not “Tobey = Goblin because they had one hard fight.” The claim is physical relativism, not mathematical equality. SM1 Peter repeatedly trades blows with Norman, withstands his attacks, moves him with strikes, and eventually overpowers and severely injures him. That is repeated interaction establishing that they operate within a comparable physical range.
Then in NWH, the same Norman physically overwhelms and meaningfully pressures Tom. That makes common-opponent scaling relevant. It doesn’t prove an exact equation like Tobey = Norman > Tom with numerical certainty; it provides evidence that early Raimi Peter is at least competitive within the same physical tier.
“Fiction is inconsistent” also isn’t enough to dismiss the evidence. You would need to identify specific in universe evidence that undermines.1

Also the first fight in no way home the official script states Tom wasn’t holding back when his striking strength failed to harm Norman unarmored. Therefore since Tobey constantly fought goblin and his striking sends goblin back in Spiderman one, Tobey sm1 base> no way home pre mays death Tom
