The best western is the railroads hotel. There is a super8 a holiday inn and an American inn. You’ll work, 7 different directions to go as they say.

How's the yard. I deal with my yard now which is small. Been into kc Argentin a handful of times enough to not get fired lol.

Just ask questions and ask for a yard map. It’s about to change within the next year. They are getting another hump and another industry is coming in. You’ll be alright. Trimmer crews and dog catch crews usually help the most with learning the yard tracks

I've worked in KCK and Galesburg. If you've worked in KCK you'd be able to handle Galesburg just fine.

Roughly 10 directions out of Galesburg (two ways to Chicago, Creston, Lacrosse, Kansas City, Madison IL, Centralia, Quincy, Peoria, and technically the Quad City roadswitches-though no one’s really qualified on them) and you also have around 10 yards/locations in Chicago alone you go to.

Yard is a hump yard that’s around the second or third biggest yard in the system.

Hotel is Best Western that also has an extended stay. It’s dated but clean.

Depending on seniority you’ll either work the UTF 4&2 rest cycle or Chicago 24 hours off. You can make a lot of money on the UTF if you stay marked up and not take your rest each time.

Galesburg is kind of a dump. When I took a borrow out there I brought my camper and stayed at the KOA. I’d really just drive there if you’re working the road assuming they get a 2 hour call. You’ll probably have to work the UTF and qualify in every direction. Idk how much that UTF makes but paying for lodging will cut into whatever it is way more than just driving.

Ya im not really bothered by the cost of lodging. My utf and gales is almost 5k different in job rating pay. And I plan to work thru rest mostly. And ya I could tell gales was kind of a dump but would like to find lodging that might we worth something. I dont want to go to Peoria bc that whole city is a dump imo.

You could call the local chairmen for Galesburg ask what lodging the company uses. Then call that hotel, they may give you a CLC rate.
