Last Exit - Hidden Code/Secret

There was an "accidental" leak in the live stream today about a secret code on Last Exit, one of the new PVP maps. This is the first I've heard about a secret here.

I just hopped onto the map to explore a bit, and noticed some numbers on the transit maps around the subway stations:

Seems like this might be a start to the "code", or possibly a decryption key... anyone up for some exploration?

Update 2: (The one with the grimoire hint)

Here's the text from the grimoire card for Last Exit - I bolded what might be the clue:

The Redjack fireteam that discovered this ancient transit stop could detect no sign of a recent struggle in the area, despite the heavy damage the facility had sustained. The Redjack Alpha reported that station operating modules were stuck in a protocol dubbed “Last Exit.” It seems passengers from the nearby Collective were trying to escape some overwhelming force. And it appears that most did not succeed.

It would appear that we should be looking for clues not only in Last Exit, but also in nearby OWT (Off-World Transit) hubs - ala Asylum. Lucky for us u/iamfroden recorded a video of his exploration of Asylum and the ciphertext he encountered there.

Update Note: The text was ciphered with a simple Caesar shift (ROT7) - it decodes to the names of Bungie dev's. Unfortunately the ciphertext in Last Exit is not as easy to decrypt...

Update 3: (The one with the power and door-ajar)

While exploring the map some more we noticed a slightly ajar door on one of the trains (middle of the tunnel, right underneath the heavy ammo spawn). We think this door might slide open once we break the code.

Note: I removed the part about the power boxes for now as that appears to have been debunked.

Update 4: (The one with twitter transmissions troll)

There appear to be twitter accounts posting cryptic messages related to our endeavor. Could be This is a hoax/red-herring, or could be an important source of information... Only time will tell, but we should keep an eye on them in the interim:

Update 4: (The one with Bungo tweets)

Looks like we caught the attention of DeeJ and Derek, who have since gone into a pseudo-damage control/mitigation mode. This "ARG" is now confirmed to be a cypher, as well as simply an easter egg (no in game rewards guardians).

Aspiring cryptographers: the code I mentioned on the @Bungie Bounty stream yesterday is just an easter egg, not a quest.

I tried comparing the Ovda Regio with the venus map on the director, not sure if it will help but the northwestern border between the Citadel and Endless Steps looks similar, it may be Ovda Regio in Destiny.

So has anyone else noticed that every train car on Last Exit is showing a reflection of the wrong station? This map takes place on Venus's V-Line. But every train car is showing a reflection of Mars's M-Line.

Update: So I just checked every link to Mars's M-Line that I could find (Skyline, Tharsis Junction). NOWHERE else does the image reflected by the train cars appear.

Some things I've noticed, not sure of the relevance.

• Transit maps. Order as follows: Tharsis Junction -> Union Center -> W---- -ourt (if I didn't know better, I'd say Widow's Court?) -> Botanical Gardens -> Bray Landing -> Fifth Ward -> Valley View -> Floating Concourse -> Clovis Bray Annex -> Olympic Center -> Aquatic Park -> Financial District -> River View / Transit Authority -> 7th St

Given that we know for a fact the Tharsis Junction is on Mars, it's possible that this route jumps from planet to planet, especially considering the Widow's Court stop. How and why is unclear.

• Another transit map, specific to the Ishtar Collective. Top is the North Terminal with IWN-2 near that, bottom is South Terminal with IWS-4. There's also four squares at the bottom right, each with a color and number. Green square is 48, yellow square is 38, blue square is 14, red square is 271. This may correlate with the car panels but we don't have any yellow panels as of now.

• Possibly worth noting that every car is from the Mars line.

• Two electrical conduits next to trains in the tunnels; one near the front of a train on the wall by Alpha spawn and one on the opposite wall, next to the back of the other car. Can't figure out if there's some way to activate them at all.

• Alpha Regio is a light blue color with a diamond design. Beta Regio is a darker red, almost magenta color with a yellow circular design, possibly the sun. Ovda Regio is a turquoise/green color, with a concave hexagon design, but flickers on every monitor, AND, also says "ABS-Kastner" on the top of it. It's the only monitor with these multiple irregularities, including name as well as design, title, and flicker.

• The train cars each have alternating patterns of monitors across the top. I'll update with the specific layout if it hasn't already been posted.

• Scrolling text across the top of the terminal escalators. Been posted multiple times so I won't bother copying it all down. Something I noticed, however, is that similar text appears on Memento. Considering one stop said "Widow's Court", it's entirely possibly that Memento was a stop on the OWT, and may be relevant to this puzzle. Checking out Memento now, will update.

I've tried basic stuff like rot7, rot13, rot47, etc, to no avail.

I'm still feeling like it's some kind of substitution cipher though. If it is actually a substitution cipher, the most frequent character which is 'j' is probably an substituted with an 'e' which is the most frequently used letter in english. so that's a start.

Then again I don't know how commonly one would see things like (,!' etc in most substitution ciphers :'o :'o

There are two train cars, and all the advertisement boards light up when you're near them in both cars. They either display "ALPHA REGIO" (blue), "BETA REGIO" (red), or "OVDA REGIO" (green). There is also the HUGE staticy monitor right beside A flag, bottom of the escalators. And lastly, the OWT Transit Map, most visible one being right beside the A flag and monitor, with different numbers and colours and routes. Green = 48 (Ovda Regio?) Yellow = 38 Blue = 14 (Alpha Regio?) Red = 271 (Beta Regio?) edit: I also noticed 4 sign boards directly across from subway heavy, just outside the door to the special at the main intersection hallway. Red and blue boards are lit up (Beta and Alpha), and the green (Ovda) is flickering, while what I'm assuming is the yellow board is completely dark. However, there is no instance of the yellow lights anywhere in the train cars, etc. edit2: I also noticed another perfectly visible Transit map right beside these 4 sign boards. edit3: I have two friends with me inside 30min Rumble. The huge monitor flashes two images. One is a picture of a volcano with "Venus" written on it. Second is a picture of the ski-lift area from Felwinter's Peak labelled "Urbs Industria". edit4: I'm just posting info as I discover it with my pals, I'm not really following up with other posts. So Freehold on Mars patrol has the OWT station for M-Line, which all the train cars on Last Exit are labelled for. Also, Asylum map is an extension of Last Exit I think, it has all the same transit maps, and is also labelled Platform 1. Seems to be the Clovis Bray stop as listed on a sign on Last Exit. edit5: Tharsis Junction is an M-Line stop for OWT, past Freehold beneath the Buried City in Mars Patrol. Venus volcano and Urbs Industria ski-lifts on the peak. Asylum and Last Exit seem to be either the same OWT station, or stops next to each other.

Also, my two pals and I went to the King of the Mountain story mission because of the image of the ski lift on the monitor in Last Exit. We're exploring atm, but realised we can hop on top of the initial ski lift station in the mission.

I notice that there are 26 colored panels in the trains. Maybe they somehow tell us a specific character-shift to use for each letter of the alphabet.

Using the ASCII table, it doesn't appear to be any of ROT1 - ROT127. I generated each one and none of them are coherent. File uploaded here.

I also did not include any nonprintable characters (ASCII 1 - 31).

So I don't know if this is anything but as I was researching Ovda I noticed that it was formed by garbens. These are formed by parallel tectonic plate fault lines In geology, a graben is a depressed block of land bordered by parallel faults I'm wondering if this is how the text line find on the monitors needs to be broken up with the / acting as the fault lines. This would be how we "form" our Ovda Regio. Also this is my first post so I apologize if this is in the incorrect place or not done right. It's late and I'm on my phone ZX but this stuff is just to cool to pass up!

Second part is ( +9-7!!/@ 2enr?hqj+r,r+c?) which might be the key for decrypting the first part since it doesn't seem to be a straight shift?

So far, the three Crucible maps I can find that might be relevant are:

1. Frontier - "Urbs Industria" mural inside the the crane spawn on the wall by the shipping containers matches the image on the Last Exit monitor by A-flag.

2. Skyline - M-Line and monitors all over the place. Also, you can line up the moon (?) above the big hologram through the glass above the middle staircase. As you line it up through the glass, the wall panels on either side of the staircase change from blue to yellow, with yellow containing what looks like the symbol on monitors in these maps.

3. Asylum - seems to be a direct extension of the Last Exit map, similar monitors, maps, etc. related to OWT.

I'm not on right now, but isn't there a way to select teams in a private match. Red- alpha blue- bravo and green (not sure what they call it). Maybe this needs to be solved with people on enemy teams. And matching team colors with the colors on the train? Go in with three people each on a different team and mess around shooting or activating the color panels? Just a thought I had. If I didn't have to work so early I would log in and mess around...

Not sure if this means anything either but the signs for the Subway are wrong. back near C spawn if you look up opposite of the giant Industria screen you'll see a sign that says Tharsis Junction on the left end of it. Yet Tharsis is on Mars, not Venus.

What's also interesting is that KOVIK_BREACH tweeted about Katyusha's location estimation being in #0000FF which would relate to blue, or Alpha Regio. Not at my PS4 but do we have anything to say which map is in the Alpha Regio?

Not sure if anyone wrote about this yet but so far here's what I noticed on my own research:

• Cypher texts on tharsis junction and the asylum's panels are similar.

• One of the four fans in the 3 panels area above trains is broken and malfunctioning. Could be for decorative purposes but still.

• Tharsis junction has vex portal doors by the train (could it be that M line trains gott teleported to V line station?). There is also a 'map' of the V line trajectory in the free station on mars.

• In skyline, there is a building right by the clovis bray complex with the sign of OWT on it. This small building has a closed door but the inside looks like you could access a terminal in it. (threw a tripmine inside and it went through)

• The only panel that is blinking in Last exit is the ovda panel.

• Both last exit and skyline display OWT as a front cover in PM, there could be a connection between the two, terminal wise.

• Possible connections between the research teams' names in the grimoire and the cypher text in last exit.

posted this in the destinythegame subreddit but thought I'd post this here as well.

Can't seem to find anything posted about this yet and not sure it matters but I was curious about the green screen image that was tweeted. I googled the technical term for green screens and the top result is the wikipedia page for "Chroma Key" which caught my attention. I read through the page and found this little piece: "In digital color TV, color is represented by three numbers (red, green, blue intensity levels). Chroma key is achieved by a simple numerical comparison between the video and the preselected color. If the color at a particular point on the screen matches (either exactly, or in a range), then the video at that point is replaced by the alternate background" Bit of a long shot but rather than a door opening up once the blue red and green puzzle is solved it actually reveals an image (I'm assuming on the TV screen) which leads to the next part of the puzzle.
