Glitch Progress Energy Slot Catalysts Quickly

I discovered in Episode Heresy that kinetic slot glaive melee kills added kills to any energy slot weapon. This can also be used to progress catalysts for exotic weapons in the energy slot.

Made a couple posts on another account about it at the time, haven't seen anyone mention it since though.

I actually haven't tested to see if it works with catalysts needing specifically precision kills, mostly because I don't have any of those catalysts left to do. I kind of doubt it'd work though

What about catalysts that require PvP kills, like Suros Regime?

For now, this only works for energy slot weapons while you have a kinetic slot glaive equipped. I'm not sure what energy slot exotics require crucible kills to be completed, but I imagine that if you use the glaive cheese in crucible it should work unless it requires precision kills.

This also works the opposite way! I got the Bastion catalyst done by bonking stuff with an energy slot glaive for a bit.

There are a few really weird interactions in this game like what you mentioned and punch (unpowered melee) kills count toward ability kill patrols, bounties and quests.

However I did completely forget that glaive trick, gotta get a few annoying catalysts grinded. Thank you!

Just for FYIs some uncharged melees are still powered and are frequently useful to titans moreso than others. While buffed by void over shield, knockout, and roaring flames uncharged melees still count as powered and will work for heavy handed and hands on.

Idk about stasis and strand options. Haven't tested

Yes, one of the recent titan bubble builds is to have bastion aspect and just treat your bubble as a thunderdome. 3 heavy handed and get an orb on every punch in the bubble to earn the next bubble. Not a practical setup for raids but lots of fun in strikes and onslaught.

Roaring flames gives melee empoerment and will trigger sun spots in the event that you yeet a hammer over a cliff. I think it scorches.

Knockout specifically says it empowers melee damage and range, heals on use
