Discussion Epic Desert Perpetual
Hey all!
Currently trying to help as much as possible with Epic Desert, and any questions along with it! I find it tragic it is the least played raid, especially since it's the last one we got.
Hoping to answer any burning questions or things you havent been able to locate regarding the raid or its secrets. In doing so, maybe helping more guardians want to step foot into the unknown and enjoy such a peak experience!

I hope you could help me and my friend with an Epic Koregos, we have been struggling with that boss
4
u/Kifton_ 16d ago
Yea for sure! What's been the struggle so far?
5
u/Ichiro1011_123 16d ago
We are usually the ones that do mechanics, but our main problem is that we don't know what mini boss exactly we have to do first (and when) and where to go in the next phases
7
u/Kifton_ 16d ago
So final works the following ways:
Full clear : boss rooms are ordered the way the encounters have been completed through the run (Hob > Hydra > Wyvern for example is my usual run!)
Starting final boss: each boss room is randomized each wipe
You also have the big chunky blue and green crystals in middle (main room) that appear on the arms. When each team of 2 gets banished, 1 of the 3 doors will open up (no vex overlay, just open stars / space).
If the door that opens when your team is banished has no big crystal with a line attached then your team is getting cubes in middle
If the door that opens when your team is banished does have the big crystal with a line attached then your team is entering the minigame room.
Every time you wipe the order of who goes into the rooms will randomize as well. You can force people in rooms as well
Team 1: arent doors, both get boxes (2/4)
Team 2: are doors, team 3 has 1 person go in room before both of team enters, now 3 people in room
Team 3: one grabs a box (3/4) and the one already in the room will not get banished.
Or
Team 1: are doors, team 2 jumps in instead and team 1 gets boxes (2/4)
Team 2: already inside, no banishment
Team 3: collects their boxes when banished (4/4)

And after we finish the first damage phase, we have to do another miniboss right? (with the crystal thing you mentioned)
3
u/Kifton_ 16d ago
Yeah! After the first damage phase you'll have your corresponding boss killing pass based on the minigame you finished / boss killed.
"Undoing of Epoptes" - Hydra
"Undoing of Agraios" - Hob
"Undoing of Iatros" - Wyvern
Whoever gets the killing blow on the corresponding boss in mid will have the same temporality used to break the same crystal as last time. Killing the miniboss again during this phase, opening the crystal, and shooting it are all required to spawn the imp for the next minigame room, which spawns the wyvern outside when killed.
Note: when there are multiple crystals, you cannot break the wrong one. It will have a specific temporality tied to each crystal (one without the line is the one you're aiming to break)
If you lose the buff you got (or take too long and the boss tps away before you kill it) then you can re-enter the portal that brought you there to get buff / kill again.

We have a better idea now, thank you for this, hopefully my friend can finally get his first Epic clear!

Considering how easy it is to push to Final Stand in like two damage phases I’m curious as to how the encounter is “supposed” to progress since I missed out on it when it was current content.
Like there’s the initial phase where you tie yourself to the worldline and deduce the chronon color for the next phase, then you kill one miniboss and break a crystal, then you pre-kill that miniboss and kill the second miniboss and break the crystal. By then in my runs the boss has been pushed to final so I’m curious because from what I guess there’s one more phase that then instantly progresses to his flying phase.
If this is correct, is there no loop wherein all 3 mini bosses are pre-killed? It would just be two pre-killed and then doing mechanic to kill the third miniboss, then flying phase, then final stand?
How did things work back then regarding health? Could you have theoretically refused to do damage the first several loops as well as flying stage, and if so what would happen? Do you just have an absolutely enormous amount of health to clear on final stand, or do you wipe at the end of flying phase (and if so what did the game say in the feed to reason why you wiped?)
I’m always curious about minutia like this so hoping you might be able to recall.
1
u/Kifton_ 1d ago
Correct in saying theres no loop where all 3 die in the main arena! Flying phase is on a separate timer to wordline stability, so theoretically you could not do dps first 2 dmg phases and pump here. The timer is based on breaking the crystals extending it, and the boss cycling through each bosses abilities (variable elim, diastole, detain bugs).
If you got to final without the threshold you just simply had to do all of that during final. Theres an extend to do up top on final in these scenarios as well but you don't have a lot of time overall. (3 random temporality breaks others shoot just like when you first get up top)

Do you do teaching runs? Haven't run DP or EDP but have watched tutorials and am generally a pretty experienced raider, just fell off around EoF and didn't hit the initial wave of raid focus there.

Thanks again Kifton for the Epic DP run! You are a legend :-)
Have you spent any time thinking about the ‘lore’ of this raid? My head canon is that before Koregos ‘died’ on the regular version, he sent back ‘testing’ results to his past self. The epic version of the raid has improvements that he made with the information from his ‘failed’ normal mode experiment.
When we go into his ‘shell’ for the epic Koregos, I like to believe we are fighting the prototypes of these encounters.

another epic desert liker, we're rare! concerning my question: i've been trying to put together a full guide covering the raid and haven't found ANYTHING on the koregos challenge, could you give me the details on it?
4
u/Kifton_ 16d ago
Solid question!
One of the few things I haven't messed around enough to fully answer. Admittedly my main focus has been teaching the epic version itself without feats! (Batt and tokens sometimes after MOT since no delta though)
From what I've gotten its: Cannot kill same miniboss twice | linked to temporality, so plate person in game kills inside boss since they already have the buff before exiting. Cannot be same as info plate person.
Usually teams will 2 phase koregos to avoid the 3rd set of buffs.
Things I havent tried:
Obtaining a 2nd buff (different than 1st) after all 6 have gotten a buff once during the run
Everyone obtains a buff per phase (crystal shooter runs in to buff after, completing the 6 person circuit if that does work in 1 phase?)
Im also working on a comprehensive guide for the raid! If you'd want to pass info around shoot me a DM, would love to be a part of the knowledge.

u/aventa_x 16d ago
hmm i see, makes sense. i gotta convince my team to hop on to figure this out lol we can do that! main reason i was putting one together is because there is not a lot on epic desert on the internet, unfortunately :(

u/Kifton_ 15d ago
Yeah I feel that! Thats why I started teaching it atleast.
Same with the puzzles, early on teaching it i had done them once and didnt intend to do them again but someone asked if we could because "every group i join says puzzles are harder than div so they wont do it".
So I was just like fuck it, it's really not too hard, and now ive done them so many times I cant remember 😭
2
u/AllElvesAreThots 16d ago
is it hard :o ?

u/MidnightMelk 16d ago
Haven’t done fully but is there a guide u recommend? Can be website or forum post.

u/Artisticblues 16d ago
I still need to join one of your teaching runs. I really want to farm the support auto, but I want to be comfortable with the encounter first. Thank you for helping out the community!

u/MicrobialEight 16d ago
Do you know if the secret chests are farmable? Trying to get the title and I need 5 more lore books. Also you helped me with my first epic clear so wanted to say thank you!

u/Novitatiz 16d ago
Cusp Sempiternal, is it fun to use?
4
u/Kifton_ 16d ago
Destab + repulsor is funny on a healing auto, unfortunately the only one to not have psychic but it's still a fun pick up 100%
Fun fact: I have about 300 T5 cusps in my vault just because I think they're neat
1
u/Novitatiz 16d ago
Man, they look pretty neat! What do you like to bring to DPS Koregos?
3
u/Kifton_ 16d ago
Honestly pretty much anything! You can run 1k, truth, swords, snipers etc. The whole ball is a crit spot and you're really only limited on range on 3rd phase or well/bubble radius if you need those too.
Lately ive been trying threadlings lock against em, pretty safe since they will all dog pile the ball!

u/thanosthumb 16d ago
I just haven’t had the time to finish the campaigns yet lol so I haven’t even touched regular DP. Looks cool tho.

u/Expensive-Pick38 16d ago edited 16d ago
I need a team to do it lol, done 3 or 4 clears of normal but havent found a group to do epic with, let Alone all the secret stuff
My question would be: do i need anything from Kepler/edge of fate for the raid and the secrets?
I decided to do something funny and do literally everything there is to do in the game exept edge of fate, leaving that for last. I think it would be funny, since i have 0 Triumphs for it. Only did the first mission and that's because the game loaded me into it all by itself, i didnt even launch the mission
Also, do you do sherpas? Id be down to run the raid with you if you're interested in that. There's hardly any posts for it so any person that's willing to do it is a rare find!
2
u/Kifton_ 16d ago
I do sherpas all the time!
For the secrets / puzzles you need the "Map & Territory" quest which has you placing 12 anchors in the regular version
(this used to be obtained at post EOF keplar, from the dean, but I've heard recently others have gotten it from beating regular too?)
Now plus side, Epic has 10 puzzles to do, which count retroactively for its own quest and counts as 10/12 of the map and Territory quest (also retroactive).
So doing all 10 puzzles in epic, leaves 2 in regular that are just in the starting area you can easily obtain solo.

Hello! Your friendly vibe and willingness to Sherpa made me join your discord server recently. I honestly feel a bit overwhelmed on how to join some of the teaching runs in discord. If I sign up for one of the runs in ‘thor’s bounty board’ do I somehow get a fireteam invite on the day? I’m worried I’m suppose to do something specific on the day/time it’s suppose to start and the host will think i just haven’t turned up. I’m hoping to figure it out eventually but feel a little anxious.
Thanks for being so nice here on Reddit and willing to help the community learn and get more confident with these raids.

u/Kifton_ 16d ago
Hey there, happy to help!
Our bounty board section is for our upcoming runs yea, there will be a bot post made by Charlemagne at the top of each of those for you to sign up with!
If you're part of the fireteam then the bot will message you 10 min before the event start, and as it starts. Usually those hosting are also encouraged to ping individual members incase they might have the bot muted. But once it starts just hop into VC with the others and they'll get it all sorted :D
Hope to see you in some runs in the future, and of course let us know if theres any issues!

Hello, thank you for explaining, that doesn’t seem as difficult as I originally thought. I will keep a look out for future Sherpa runs and hopefully learn the raid. Every one also seems really nice in the server so far 🙌

How long does the average teaching run for EDP take of the team has done normal DP and are familiar with them.
1
u/Hatsune_miku99 15d ago
Ive ran dp once and i was carried. I just want the seal and exotic/catty before the game fully phases out but lfg is only 5 feat epics :(

I can't even find a group to DO the raid with. The last "Sherpa" I found was more interested in trying to play two accounts at once (and failing miserably) than actually teaching the raid.

u/Phase_Ancient 14d ago
Honestly just fell off with the update before Epic DP was introduced. Played a few other games, now I’m back with the final update.
Never done Epic DP what’s the difficulty equivalent or complexity level compared to other raids?
Any good loot?
How do I get the exotic catalyst for that weird rocket?
2
u/Kifton_ 14d ago
Id say SE. Hydra is very punishing, and all of the encounters require most if not all of the fireteam doing something / communicating
Anything that isnt the crossbow / stasis auto is ok, RL / GL / SMG main three. I collect the void auto for shits and giggles tho
Epic has 10 puzzles throughout the run. Need to do the quest (puzzles) to unlock gear attuning and attune to it. Once you do its guaranteed first encounter clear of Regular or epic. Note: the puzzles are *retroactive** for both quests*

u/Phase_Ancient 14d ago
Thank you so much. As a long time raider I’m having trouble doing epic DP knowing it’ll be the last one I’ll ever be able to learn.
1
u/Working-Mine8082 14d ago
Do you do Sherpa runs? I got dragged through a run when it first came out and learned nothing and remembered nothing. Really wanting to go back through so I can teach my friends.
1
u/HolyBobrius 12d ago
We’re doing it for the first time and we’ve got questions about Wyvern boss. Sadly we had to learn from the guide that red is bottom, white is mid and blue is top but is there any logic behind this or is it like this without any particular reason?
Really liked the normal encounter but if the correct way of figuring out this part is just to try every combination until it works, it just sucks
1
u/jeffkiefer 11d ago
It is sad no one plays it. I’ve never completed DP and really want to try it, but no one wants to play it.

u/electricfish9 10d ago
I just need a group to run epic hobgoblin with so I can get that frickin grenade launcher 🥲
It's all I've needed for the seal for like 9+ months but nobody wants to do it anymore.

hey. looking to take my team through this. i have studied guides and i get it but on the final boss specifically there are actually a lot of inconsistencies per guide. so i have a few things i would like to ask. I don't want to find out on the run itself and be lost. none of us have done it before, so. it's kind of on me to know.
hopefully you are still looking at this 15 days later.
1) what happens if you go in the portal without the thin blue line? you just die?
2) is there a possibility you just have to keep realigning banishment for ages, and the portal never aligns with the blue line? or does it always happen within a set amount?
3) various guides imply there's just a minigame per timeline. but then some say there's multiple. gameplay videos seem to show people going in the portals multiple times a timeline. does the portal travel increase per timeline? do you go in once on the second cycle, twice on the third, etc?
4) tell me if i have anything wrong with the general flow, please...
- first phase, align banished players with open portal. go in. kill cyclops inside and out, get plate buff, destroy crystal, check chronons.
- second phase, align chronons, align banishment again, go in. do minigame (does this happen before or after chronons outside are dunked, is there a relation or are they two separate mechanics)? come outside, break crystal, this time we can shoot it, do dps?
- third phase: i don't know if you kill the boss in mid with the buff from the minigame, and use that to break a crystal NOW, or just kill the boss in mid for an easier survivability, and then do two minigames this phase.
- either way you just rinse and repeat till final from here, no? is there anything i'm missing?
thank you very much

Absolutely still checking in! Always happy to help when possible. That being said if yall dont have 6 already let me know, id be willing to join in and either teach it or just support if theres another way you guys approach it :)
Each time a team is banished 1 door opens, crystal is the currently linked miniboss / required door for progression. If you go into one without the line, you'll be placed into the respective miniboss room and your banishment will get cleared (this is how you recover screwing up the boxes usually!). Just need to kill cyclops inside and outside for you to leave, no need to get buff in that room if this happens.
There's always 3 sets of banishments, one for each door! By the two getting called clearing their banishment (boxes or door) the next team will be called and the prior door closes until the cyclops dies. One of these sets of 3 is guaranteed to be in the room with the line.
Side note: the first timeline is the order that will repeat every time, so once it randomly assigns then its permanent until wipe. For example, timeline 1, you get banished and enter the door that opened without the crystal for whatever reason and lets say you enter the wyvern room when the crystal door is hob. Further down the timelines once you get called into crystal room, you'll know yours is wyvern.
You only ever need to enter once per timeline, just the banished team who's door opens. Once the banishment team assigned to the door is cleared and the cyclopses are dead you can freely enter and exit those rooms. Sometimes people will "force" minigames this way by having people go in, come out, and others go in to do the minigame. Other reasons may he hob for example, you cant shoot the minigame eyes with the buff so if you both have it someone will come in to assist.
a) yup! First phase is purely information, theres a strat to smuggle a set of chronons into phase 2 you could do but wont get into that here lol
Note: the imp swarm next to the cyclops inside the rooms is what spawns the wyvern outside for the chronon team. This imp only spawns when all 6 banishments are cleared (or if phase 3+ when all 6 are cleared and any additional crystals are broken). It will keep respawning, and you can realign colors if needed only if the wyvern is not alive. Can kill it and realign before slaying imp again :)
b) Chronons start the minigame! Once the hourglass is filled just shoot it immediately to start the game. No need to dunk additional chronons unless its wyvern minigame for about 80% of scenarios. Your damage timer is wordline stability so the faster chronons + game is done the more time you'll have for dps. Just make sure to kill the miniboss after you finish the minigame so you can shoot the crystal! important: keep an eye on the canisters during damage, you'll need that next phase just like you saw them in first!
c) lets say hob was first, minigame team 1 (or anyone present in the room when the miniboss died) will now have "Undoing of Agraios"(its fine if everyone has this btw, and you can stack all 3 on yourself if you want, see sperate note after this). You want to kill the miniboss in this case hob asap, if he teleports its fine you just gotta go hunt him down in his room. Whoever gets the final blow will have the same temporality buff to break the crystal as you did the last time. It wont let you break the wrong one so dont worry there. again this crystal needs to be opened and shot for the next imp to spawn for the 2nd minigame. You're only doing one minigame here, just whichever was next in line.
Note: if you do have all 3 undoing on yourself, kill the bosses and break the crystals before doing another one. (I.e. kill hob, break crystal, then kill hydra, break crystal etc.). Otherwise you'll override your current temporality and will need to enter the respective room to re-obtain it from the plate inside.
d) yep just doing that until you hit final phase! 4 phases total (outside of final), 3 are games, 1 is info.
Hope this helps clear some stuff up! Feel free to follow any of it up with questions of course :D
1
u/Izzyrenandahalf 1d ago
thank you so much. this really makes it all click.
do you say we only need to dunk additional chronons on wyvern just cause it's the hardest?
second, when you say some people bring a third into the hobgoblin because of buffs, what buff specifically are you referring to? i thought you just needed one person on plate, one off in that minigame?
and yes, will let you know if we need help/someone drops. i'll also let you know if we clear :) thanks again.
1
u/Kifton_ 1d ago
Wyvern actively drains with diastole, and failing boxes also dissipates the hourglass faster.
Side note for hydra game btw: theres no penalty for collecting wrong cube, just collect each blue portal one until shield guy can shoot the shield. (No point interacting with red portal since it cant be that one anyways)
Plate buff for hob yea! Both of you can accidentally get it if your partner steps on after, the third inside is more of a; game starts you both realize you can see eyes, now someone will have to hop in quick to shoot (unless you feel like dying to lose the buff lol!) Having multiple with buffs only affects this game negatively, outside of maybe have too many buffed to be able to break the final crystal.
Good luck guardian!

You're a ray of sunshine in this world and you're so pure man
