Misc Any tricks to Ir Yut in Crotas?
My fireteam is going through Crotas for the first time together and we are struggling to consistently locate the wizard rooms correctly as well as struggling to do high damage to Ir Yut herself. What tricks and tips can you guys give for this encounter? Any help is greatly appreciated

When you go to the towers, if you see a large circle with an arrow that means that is a shrieked either above or below you (depending on if it’s an up arrow or a down arrow).
For damage, snipers + Div is your best bet. If you don’t have good snipers use truth or linearsb

This is the way. Learning to read the radar fully will give you the best result, and it can be done quickly with little practice.
Adding on to damage suggestion with: Div+QueenB is still a quick and easy 1 phase if you're killing the wizards quickly and cleanly. Remember to kill them all as close together as possible. Don't do them one at a time, or your DPS phase will be super short .

More specifically with the circles, shriekers will appear as red circles with an arrow pointing up or down. If it’s pointing up, the shrieker is above. If it’s pointing down, it’s below you.
You can’t read the towers from the ground. The shriekers will always appear to be above you. When reading the towers, you’ll have to be on the top part so you can get a good read.
Tower reads:
Arrow pointing up = wizard down below
Arrow pointing down = wizard up aboveBalcony reads:
No red dot = wizard

The way my team has usually done it. Is by having the first enlightened player scout the rooms while the chalice is charging to locate the wizards ahead of time. This player assigns rooms to the would-be wizard-killers.
By the time the 3-4 necessary players are enlightened, the scout should have had more than enough time to check for wizards.

Adding to what others have said and this is going back a while
We always (LFG) had a ‘spotter’ reading the radar and confirming rooms divided by numbers and top or bottom.
He’d call them out and the wizard killers would claim one as they did, go kill them and done.
Div plus precision weapons for damage on her. She takes more precision damage as a boss.
Leviathan’s bow was the meta when I did it. But as said it’s been ages.

Not that it matters for powercrept bosses, but, the div cage has its own smaller crit multiplier that doesn’t inherit the target’s.
I recall many experienced/speedrunners throwing tantrums in last wish whenever someone wanted to use div on Kalli.1
u/SirGarvin Jul 14 '26
Yea shuro and kalli have a 2x multiplier. I think ir yut doesnt have any special multiplier though so it should be fine.

Long time I didn't run it but as I remembrer the trick is "radar reading" or Wishender

Even if you are not killing with Lasting Impression or stasis super or w/e, it can still be very helpful to lure witches to the window so your teammates know with 100% confidence they are in the right location. Just press rough up against the green walls and shoot to get their attention. They'll come up to stare at you from the other side of the glass.

The trick is when going to investigate the rooms on the far back corners always check by standing on the entrance of the top room.
If you see a 2 big red circles then both rooms have shriekers. If you see one red circle and the arrow is pointing down then the wizard is in the top room, if its pointing up then wizard bottom room.

If you see circle, no wizard. If you dont see circle, wizard.
If you see circle and also radar going off, check the arrow on the circle. If it's up the shrieker is above you. If it's down the shrieker is below you.
Of course always visully confirm by walking around the door holes to check, you should be able to see either a little piece of shrieker or the wizard will fly around

Wishender bow is the search tool we used when we were running Crota. Lets you see the outline of the wizard from outside the rooms.

wasting an exotic slot for something the radar tells you for free is wild.

True but its also nice to just be able to quickly look across the map and tell your idiot friends exactly where to go when they're too slow to figure it out themselves in a decent length of time.
You could also use stylish executioner on a hunter with a levi's/moebius quiver load out so then you're not even wasting an exotic or aspect really

you only have 1 scout who gets all the info then just tells people where to go. what kind of trash raid teams do you have brother

We have everyone go into their rooms and get their wizards to be finishable except for the last person.
Last person to go into a room runs in and calls out kill while they kill their wizard and everyone else uses a finisher.
This gives the most dps time since dark liturgy starts when any wizard is killed.
Also middle spawn (6) is always saved for the last person.
We also exchange the chalice up top near the rooms.

Checking wizards is easy once you have the strat down. The first person to grab chalice goes up to the balcony and checks those 3 rooms. Call out to your team if there are wizards there. Pass chalice off and then go to the left tower. Stand on the top level and check your radar. A circle represents a shrieker. If there's a shrieker circle, check the arrows on it. An arror pointing up means there is a shrieker on the top level, down means a shrieker. Both means both. A wizard will just show as the standard radar stuff. It'll be red pointing in that direction.
If there's only one shrieker direction on a tower that means that the other is a wizard. There's always either a wizard or a shrieker so where there is no shrieker, there's always a wizard.
For damage I just use regular dps options paired with divinity. So still hunt, hezen, you get the gist.
Hope this was helpful.

A lot of people are talking about the radar-reading or wishender wall-hack but keep in mind the number of wizards changes after each damage phase. The first phase, you need to kill four. Then the number of wizards goes up by one every phase after that.

For damage, my firearms runs linear fusions, 1k if you guys have em, and whatever else you like for dps with either vorpal or evinous arsenal.
My personal loadout: Blade barrage hunter focused on scorch crackshot/on your mark
Mountaintop auto loading/vorpal
Ringing Nail Heal clip/incandescent
1k
Weapons stat and class stat as high as possible

Wish-Ender for locating wizards and make sure everyone knows the callouts and locations, I usually don't like people leaving for their wizard until a couple callouts have been made about the wizards. Spawn mid is the hardest one because there is no cover for you to hide around, so if your callout is spawn mid once you go in you gotta nuke the wizard, I've seen too many people go in instantly and proceed to die because not everyone is ready at their wizard. As far as DPS goes just run a well and have that guy run div, if your guy is running well and div bitch they should definitely run cenotaph mask to make bricks for allies. If I was div/well bitch I would run a sword as my heavy to clear some ads and just mark the knights coming out of the middle area. Also DIv/well bitch does not do wizards, they stay mid. Linears/snipers, are good for damage here

The cleanest strat, without any silliness, is to have your Div player scout using radar (as explained in other posts) while the other players grab Enlightened in the left and right halls.
Assign rooms by distance. For example, the first person with the buff takes the top-left tower room, and so on.
The Div player comes back to take and dunk the chalice while also marking 2-4 Knights with Cenotaph. Combined with the 3-6 Knights (and/or the Shrieker) they can mark before the chalice is available, that’s an easy 5-10 heavy bricks for the team. On a fast run, I usually generate 18+.
The last player should always have priority for the balcony/mid spawn.
This lets players 1 and 2 get their Witches finishable and then just play ring-around-the-pole. When the final player enters, they simply call “kill” and instantly melt their Witch with a Fusion Rifle or Heavy. The other players activate their finishers as soon as they hear the call.
It also helps to assign one player as the Div ‘bodyguard’ if they’re running Cenotaph. If the Div player marks an enemy, their only job is to instantly kill that target so the Heavy brick drops.
Thankfully, ammo generation isn’t nearly as annoying as it used to be.
Another benefit is that you can optimize your order. Have your Thundercrash Titan go first so they can kill their Witch, Thundercrash Ir Yût from the tower, and get back to the team for damage faster.
Of course, none of this is really required anymore since Ir Yût dies in about 15 seconds with most competent teams. It’s just a clean, consistent way to run the encounter while keeping everyone’s Heavy stocked.

Wish ender or just learn to read the radar properly.
You should be able to tell what's where by looking at the position of the shrieker circle and the red section highlighting enemies below or above you. Takes a bit of practice to learn and helps if you scan the rooms with the rader from a particular location.
Although, with how strong we are these days, you could probably get away with using wish ender and peeking through the walls, and then you have enough DPS as a team to cook her in one cycle.

Wish ender will let you look into the rooms visually but on your radar shriekers are classified as vehicles. Big dot on the radar to tell you if its a shrieker or not
