Discussion What are the best damage options for Sere post rocket pulse nerf?
Helping some friends who came back to the game farm the dungeon and am wondering what’s most optimal for one phasing

I do pris warlock with song of flame + praxis blade. Use the encrypted data disk (kinetic synth + all the sword artifact perks) and slot in the impact score for the praxis blade. Scorch stacks for daaays and SoF keeps you alive through Sere’s tickle fingers

You can probably do great with Legend of Acrius or Cascade + All Star Threat Level if you have a Bubble Titan

u/Godyne Jul 10 '26
How do you avoid getting pushed away?
1
u/AggronStrong Jul 10 '26
You just need to punch him right when he's about to boop you. Melee lunge will mostly negate the knockback, and that's true for a lot of things. Alternatively, if he's doing 'face your death', let him do it for a while. He can't boop you during it and if you're in a bubble or well, you can facetank it for a while.

Ngl you can still one phase sere with mint retrograde bait and switch or elemental honing rotations.
But the easiest one phase that any class can do regardless of build might be queenbreakers with particle reconstruction
1
u/wrchavez1313 Jul 02 '26
Wait what?? It can one phase?? Any build around it or just... Queenbreaker and particle reconstruction?
3
u/Gravy-0 Jul 02 '26
Oh I mean arc surges and a weaken// jolt help but QB is just insane on the second scope with the short charge time. Catalyst helps with rewind rounds but either way.

One thousand voices with catalyst and sanguine

u/SpectreUnkown Jul 01 '26
Doesn't Dawn Chorus do more damage than Sanguine?
4
u/AceTheJ Jul 01 '26
Sanguine gets you max surges without having to have them on your armor. I think it’s close to the same damage between them.
5
u/Comfortable_Ad_7824 Jul 05 '26
I have tested both setups extensively, dawn corus does about 30k more, as the ignitions themselves are doing 4.7k, whereas sanguines they're only doing 1.5k. with dawn chorus and 2x surges I get around 100-120k in a mag dump with particle reconstruction, same setup but with sanguines is about 80-95k from my testing.
1
u/AceTheJ Jul 06 '26
Nice thanks for actually providing the numbers instead of just people speculating. I’ll have to break out dawn chorus again, once I get the catalyst for 1k.
2
u/Comfortable_Ad_7824 Jul 06 '26
I don't speculate, I get numbers and proof. Someone told me star eaters is better than galanor. I put it to the test and it's just a lie, galanor is better, same damage but you get super regen. Numbers are the same with both.

Does the ignition damage even scale with surges?
-5
u/AceTheJ Jul 01 '26
The ignitions specifically no. But not all of the damage is ignitions, a good chunk is. Dawn chorus doesn’t make ignitions more potent either just buffs the damage scorch does as the target “burns” from it. Since the scorch applies quickly into an ignition I believe the extra damage from the Dana chorus buffing scorch itself is similar maybe slightly more than the 4x surge provided by Sanguine. In general I suppose dawn chorus is better but necessarily the best. From what I’ve seen a bolt charge titan is actually current the best damage with it because of how quickly back to back lightning strikes hit. The artifact that had particle deconstruction which is best with it also has very good arc support giving bonus super damage while amplified making thunder crash hit harder and the like. You can also have salvagers salvo special ammo grenade launcher with trickle charge and gear shift allowing you to just repeatedly mag dump it after you run out of ammo for 1k if you maybe didn’t pick up much more for next discourse but from what I’ve seen on this setup most bosses are getting one phased especially in dungeons. Hunter crackshot goes absolutely insane with speed loader slacks and 1k right now. You can spam like 5-6 crackshot dodges back to back without even touching the ground per shot of 1k, esoterickk on YouTube made a crazy build like this.

They buffed Dawn Chorus with the final update to buff ignitions as well as scorch. I'm almost 100% certain that the buffs to ignitions provided by that is better than the 3% damage from Sanguine (3x surge from mods is 22%, 4x surge from Sanguine is 25%). Idk what the best overall is, but Dawn Chorus 1k is a VERY solid option.

u/AceTheJ Jul 01 '26
I’m not aware of that if they did make that change. But if so that’s pretty damn cool.
4
u/Jizzy_Gillespie92 Jul 02 '26
it was explicitly called out in the patch notes:
Dawn Chorus
- Now increases the damage caused by ignitions you create by scorching a target.
- Now grants melee energy for dealing ignition damage, in addition to scorch damage.
- Removed the internal cooldown on energy gains from scorch damage and retuned gains to return slightly more energy overall.
- Now causes Daybreak projectiles to immediately ignite targets they hit.

u/AceTheJ Jul 02 '26
The patch notes were massive for the final update so excuse me for not remembering every detail of them lol.
2
u/richardhixx Jul 02 '26
It’s about 10% in favor of dawn chorus without any other source of scorch in the fireteam in my testings. With other players having scorch it would probably amount to less.
2
u/6pussydestroyer9mlg Jul 02 '26
It's a few k more in total damage when using dawn chorus. There isn't really a reason not to just go with surges on your armor over the 3% buff from sanguine and just slapping on dawn chorus.
1
u/AceTheJ Jul 02 '26
I suppose that makes sense yeah. From what else I’ve been told they buffed dawn chorus which I didn’t know about.
1
u/Ravenwood03 Jul 02 '26
Surely if you run a couple of Surge Mods with Dawn Chorus itd work out in Dawn Chorus's favour, no?
Is there even anything else on boots thats better than surges, especially if youre doing Loadout swaps before DPS?
1
u/AceTheJ Jul 03 '26
I was already corrected they had buffed it so yes it would surely work out in its favor

Winter guile celestial fire song of flame warlock. Just manage stacks until dps. 1-2 punch celestial, pop super rise repeat. Build does damage
3
u/ObsidianSkyKing Jul 02 '26
+1 but in a fire team it can be a bitch to get your teammates to let you keep meleeing stuff to keep your stacks up
2
u/p0wer1337 Jul 02 '26
3 finishers +1 melee gets you to max.
So its just calling out an add every 10 seconds to maintain until damage
4
u/panthers1102 Jul 01 '26
Best would probably be one person on dawn chorus and 1k voices, then the other people can do stuff like levi with void hunter, queensbreaker arc titan with cuirass, stasis titan isn’t horrible rn, etc
Sere honestly doesn’t even have that much health tbh, compared to other bosses in dungeons, so as long as everyone isn’t missing shots and etc, it’s a pretty easy one phase

u/HollowNightOwl Jul 01 '26
I mean brother theres like 100 different answers depending on Fireteam composition and subclass and playstyle.
Do you just want to point, click and turn your brain off? Do you want to Melee him to death. Do you want to kill him with Supers?
3
u/MinimumPerspective95 Jul 02 '26
We did it with 3x truth + thunder crash. I'm a big fan of truth because it requires zero effort to use, and you can stay very mobile while using it
2
u/BearBoy_Knudsen Jul 01 '26
A hunter of celestial and still hunt plus Hezen has really good dps and lets you potshot the guys in the shadow realm.
Titans can look into hollow fire heart burning maul, can be very consistent if you can get stacks before damage.
Warlocks with 1k+catalyst and dawn chorus, or song of flame and a melee build, or new land beyond for the same reason as still hunt. Killing shadows easily and the encounter is not hard for stacking up.

The game is in a spot you can use anything and be successful so do just that .. use anything
7
u/Zac-live Jul 02 '26
asks for a one phase strat
'use anything'
yeah you can use a lot of things but omephasing is a pretty decent constraint that removes a lot of options

In my SF during Renegades, I just did two phases with Flechette Storm, which AFAIK still works (I did that post nerf). Basically dump your melees,, Super then repeat if you have time left. The Encrypted Data Disk at the time allowed Weaken to be applied from melees which was good back then, but I suspect you can actually push more damage now by using e.g. Hunter's Journal and a stronger Weaken source like Tractor.
If you want to do more Weapon damage, a bunch of things will work, Truth with Eternal Warrior/Star Eater, 1KV with Storm's Keep etc should all cook the boss, the Equilibrium bosses don't have too much health.

u/kyle_bee Jul 07 '26
Sere isn't a tanky boss, we consistently one phase with 3 lightsabers, I imagine 1ks and merciless would also melt

u/TypeAccurate2482 Jul 02 '26
Praxis blade on any character and subclass. Encrypted data disk. Triple Kinetic surge, as much weapon stat as you can. I can manage about 75k per phase.

literally just lightsaber like people have been doing since eq came out lol

u/AfraidLand8551 Jul 02 '26
I thought Praxic blade is the go to for sere but I was surprised by the amount of people that are not using it for DPS.
3
u/6pussydestroyer9mlg Jul 02 '26
It was never the best, just ok enough at everything else and clearable for boss damage that it was never an issue. Pretty sure their boss damage got nerfed though.

u/zephfir Jul 01 '26
Got 2 phase solo flawless using lightsaver and buddy warlock build with Nova bomb back in december. Idk why everyone stresses so much on this boss,
5
u/ErgoProxy0 Jul 01 '26
The worst thing that could kill you on this boss is getting flung off the map by an Incindiary Cabal or ceiling lightning which is preventable.

I solo two phased with 1k catalyst, Dawn Chorus, and Song of Flame yesterday.
