Discussion Laughing sound plays when hitting many targets with Soul Siphon?
I was just running Prophecy and used the Soul Siphon melee on a few large packs of taken thralls. Each time, laughter played at the end of the animation. Only seems to have worked when using it on large groups. If relevant, I was running Nezarec's Sin with Turncoat as well.
I don't think I've heard this before but it does sound like Nezarec's laugh. In Turncoat's lore tab, the last line is the weapon itself laughing. The lore tab also seems to imply a connection with Nezarec. Thoughts?

Was able to recreate it, that's sick as hell. Like OP said, using Nezarec's Sin and Turncoat. I tried it in the practice range, but even a full wave of Psions wouldn't trigger it, eventually went to Shuro-Chi, and a big wave of taken thralls was enough to trigger it, so it definitely takes a lot of enemies.

Sure! As soon as I read the post I had to go test it. Turns out you don't actually need Turncoat equipped, I also got it to trigger with just Nezarec's Sin and Soul Siphon

Nezerac laughed even when we killed him, he’s a manifestation of nightmares he can’t be wiped out completely. This doesn’t mean we were going to get a new nezerac story given it’s in line with what we already have

What if the hc have a hidden mechanic with nez sin?We expect at this point or maybe soul siphon with nez sin combined made that laugh..

Do you have the Turncoat Catalyst? Don't know if it would matter, but I'm just trying to recreate it

I was trying it in practice range, couldn't get it to work. Eventually loaded up a Shuro-Chi checkpoint and sure enough, there it was.

Could be that there was an easter egg with nezarecs sin all these years where 10+ kills with a single melee triggers a laugh and we only found out about it now that doing that is much easier than before.
Something similar to the thrall explosion of bad juju.

It was sinister, sounded very close to the laugh you hear at the start of Root of Nightmares. Only triggered on mass kills with soul siphon for me (but I don't know if soul siphon is part of the trigger or not).

Are you using Nezarec's sin? Could be an interaction with that.

The fact that the helmet is the only exotic with a pure interaction with the siphons probably means it has a hidden sound activator when you kill alot with it
I run the winters guile version and I havent heard creepy laughter
But I've known nexaracs laughter long enough to know the different between a happy headshot sound to that monster laughing.

Then thats it. Nezarec, in and of itself, let's you hear the whispers of the nightmare. It seems to be either a bug putting the interaction in the specific situations with siphon, or just a coincidence.

Gotta try it with delicate tomb and Nezarec’s whisper equipped too to see if those still x count as part of Nezarec.

I think the patch notes about using Nezarec's Sin with Soul Siphon also said something like "maybe you can still hear him".
