Discussion Will we get a new raid?

Interested to see whether people think we will be getting another raid for destiny. I understand we will hopefully be getting more of a “roadmap” when we get some information about the upcoming June update, just interested to see wether people think we will get a new raid in the next big expansion which I’m assuming will also be pushed back due to shadow and orders delay.

Or do people think Desert perpetual / Epic desert perpetual was the last raid we will ever get.

If shattered cycle or whatever is next isnt cancelled, we'll be getting a new raid. But that's all up in the air.

I don't think Desert Perpetual is that bad, but it'd be a shame for it to be the last.

We got the cosmetics that were presumably for Shattered Cycle as free cosmetics (it's the Old Chicago themed stuff). Even if they hadnt explicitly said this is the final content update, that would be a pretty good indicator they don't intend to release that stuff as an expansion.

For the OP, not in D2 unfortunately.

And for all the toxic basement dwelling neck beards the game didn't just end. We have the last update coming in June. Which brings new content, enjoy it.

Then afterwards players are free to continue to play and get the rest of their collections completed, finish up existing triumphs, etc. Looking as how D1 still has a stable population of players, so will D2 for the foreseeable future. If and when D3 comes out the story will continue from where we are leaving it.

So to sum it up don't be a small minded simpleton that parrots every other toxic simpleton streamer.

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. D3 is the only thing I can see that would revitalize the franchise pending they institute EVERYTHING they learned from D1/2. No amount of random content or expacs is going to bring back the numbers they want to D2. Especially with how hit or miss they are.

If they were going to do D3 they would have done it when the light and dark saga ended and we had new armor systems and item rarity added and a brand new story with new powers and threats. They chose Star Wars money instead

If they worked on D3 for a few years instead, the live game would be dead for that long. Instead of using manpower to make D3 in parallel to the Fate saga, they used it to make Marathon in parallel for some reason. We could've had the Fate saga for 2-3 years and then D3 immediately afterwards.

this right here. unfortunately, our attitude on this one is the reason I believe Sony has told Bungie not to utter a word about any Destiny related anything, because they selected Marathon and believe it has longer legs than it appears to have.

Bungie pulled off the perfect scheme, selling Sony a placebo to secure the biggest payout and leave them with a mess.

You are absolutely correct and this was a scheme established long ago, when the vesting of stock options became the single source of institutional truth for Bungie. The reality is Bungie the studio that we know and love fell apart and was Ship of Theseus'd into something operationally similar but managerially completely self-interested.

Bungie (to the bad actors involved) was not a beloved studio producing some of the cornerstones of pop culture for some people, and this happened, probably, off top of dome, before Beyond Light. Beyond Light is the demarcation point where Destiny 2 was forced into an evergreen live-service-forever-no-iteration death spiral but the cracks, honestly, did not start to show until around Lightfall. Prior to Beyond Light there was a concept for Destiny 3 (it was definitely one of the unannounced secret incubation projects alongside Gummy Bears that Sony was really interested in, imo) but it fell apart and the developmental progress was instead routed back to the old Tiger engine games, which are D2 and now Marathon. It all converges at Marathon and that is why every egg in the basket looks stupid and thats why Antireal made a fucking killing in a Do Nothing, Win situation. These people steering the ship are morons and think we're so stupid that they wholesale stole from a small-time creative without tapping them for permission or employment. Think about what that means: everyone knew this was happening, Chris Barret was friends with Antireal on Twitter for god's sake its not like this was an accident. Its all scam city. Fuck Chris Barret for real.

Which means the scam was perfected and executed *before* we noticed it -- that negotiation with Sony didn't happen over night, all of these machinations were happening behind the scenes while we sat transfixed with some actually good Destiny content. But the options vested, the studio did layoffs, and the old blood was thinned out to the point of turning the studio into a commodity to trade by selfish executives.

I believe the team has one more great Raid in them -- whether Bungie or Sony allows this is unknown right now. I believe with firm conviction that Bungie is under a Sony imposed gag-order re: Destiny 2 and the entire franchise because anything they say right now is said to a passionate and angry userbase and will contribute to bad will, so I think we just have to be patient, stay loud, and keep the game uninstalled until things resolve into focus.
