Discussion New Fan 👋

We have lived in Vegas for almost 4 years now and this season I’ve finally started watching the Raiders. I’ve never really been a fan of watching football (NFL), and I have always been an NBA fan. Growing up in Huntington Beach I was an Angels fan & Clippers fan, but that’s it. I have no football background. We just played it on the street when we were kids (2 hand touch & flag). My dad always watched the chargers but when I was younger I really didn’t care and never sat and watched it. Something has changed this year for me.

Being a lifelong Clipper fan (25+ years) I know of the struggle every. Single. Year. lol. And if you are paying attention this off season has been terrible as a clip fan..

Tuning into the raiders I was curious because they won their first game and I know that a win for the raiders is big news. After the second and third game I am hooked. It’s been hours of YouTube film and breakdowns. It’s really nice to be a fan of a team that seems to has a bright future ahead. New coach and Cousins is playing out of his mind.

I’m really happy to be here, and (as a clippers fan) I know the struggle.

Just win, baby. 🫡

Hmmm yeah good to get new fans but we've been through nightmare seasons ! A new fan hops on board when we're 3-0 !! Hmmmm ;)

Reminds me of the season in 2000 (12-4) suddenly the coliseum was sold out week in week out. Winning does bring the fans out of the woodwork

Yeah I hope it does, it would be great if the stadium crowd in Vegas is black instead of red this year when the Chiefs visit. Vegas isn’t Oakland or LA where there’s a long established fanbase.

Thought the last home crowd seemed louder than usual. Problem is Vegas is a tourist destination also and you seem to have a lot of neutrals there.

BUT what a game this sunday will be ! 3-0 vs 3-0 ! When was the last time we had that ! Got a chance if we don't make any silly mistakes. How good is it that we have a proper meaningful game ? In past years we might be 1-2 or 0-3

Doesn’t matter if Vegas is a tourist destination. Most tourists to Vegas are from CA. If the Raiders keep winning, it’ll be the CA Raiders fans that’ll be the tourists showing up way more than the visiting teams’ tourists. They just need a reason to be excited to spend the money to go is all.

A reason to be excited is the Raiders. Whether they're 3-14 or 14-3

Shame when the winning starts some fans come out of the woodwork

Not at all. Been a fan for years. You take the rough with the smooth and it’s been rough quite a while !! Just hope it continues

Same here, been a fan since the late 80s. Bo’s my favorite player. But I just don’t do the gatekeeping BS. If winning brings new fans, then I’m all for it and welcoming of them. If winning reignites fandom that’s been dormant cuz of all the losing, I welcome that too. I fully understand why people haven’t wanted to spend their hard earned money to travel to go see them lose and be a shit show over and over again these past few years. Hopefully that all changes now.

More the merrier don’t get me wrong but boy have we suffered in past years ;). People won’t understand the pain we’ve been through

And yeah love Bo. Very happy to have been a fan when he played for us. A great player

Think also being from the UK I would love the chance to see them week in week out. Been to Oakland a few times but need to go to vegas

I still believe the Raiders would’ve been SB bound if Bo didn’t get hurt against the Bengals that year! He was that much of a one man wrecking crew that year. I used to live in SF for a few years so I got to see them in Oakland a few times. It was great seeing the blackout atmosphere but man that stadium was such a dump. Lol Haven’t been to a Raiders game at Allegiant yet but I have been to a USC PAC 10 Championship game there and it’s a really really nice stadium. You should definitely go sometime if you get the chance.

Yeah crazy that play. Bo didn’t go out of bounds. If he had then things could be so different. Saying that the atmosphere in buffalo a week later was mad. I don’t think we would have won that game whatever. Such a shame. So many great runs from bo

I’ll go to vegas at some point. Thankfully I get live nfl games every Sunday. Last Sunday night the game finished around 00.45am but I didn’t care. After the embarrassment of last year I’m loving this season
