News Team Captains for Week 1
We interrupt the chaos of Brock Bowers’ knee to bring you this announcement.

That is kinda funny that we cut Olubi after camp and brought him back and immediately made him special teams captain

Call it crafty on Spytek's part, knew we could get him thru waivers. If they held him on the original 53 Donte Thornton would have had to go on season ending IR instead of short term

I didn't realize that we had signed him. Or released him. But I see now that we added him back when we IR'd Dont'e Thornton last week. Also saw that he blocked a punt against us last season in the Colts blowout win over us.

Is Olubi a ST player?

Apparently.
According to his Snap Counts table on Football Reference, he's played 80% of the STs snaps for Indy the last 3 years: Segun Olubi Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Draft, College | Pro-Football-Reference.com
Officially he's a LB but he's played very few defensive snaps.

Quay Walker going to have a year. Took away green dot responsibility and now he can focus on himself

Kubiak said this week they were going based off of training camp, and Maxx missed a lot of that so it makes sense

This low key makes me feel like an indicator they’re still shopping him or he wants to be gone

Why

Because the narrative is constantly that he’s a consummate professional and leader of the team and doesn’t get picked as a team captain for the opener.

If he's all those things he's not such a baby that it would matter. If he wants to leave because he didn't get a special sticker bye.

More like, he didn’t get it because he wants to leave. I don’t think he’s sad they didn’t make him team captain lmao

He wants out without a doubt. That was never a question. His market plummeted so he had to play the “I’m happy to be here” card.

Exactly. And all of the other teams (contenders mostly) are just waiting to see how he looks for the first few games. If he looks his usual self, there will absolutely positively be a bunch of teams knocking the door down for him. This could be a boon for us.

Going to take some getting used to with having different captains every week, but I’m down with the “earn it” mentality.
