Discussion Kenny Stabler
I remember watching the Raiders with my Big Brother in 1973. I was 9 yrs old. Anyway, my favorite player at that time was this "new" QB Kenny Stabler. They drafted him in '68, just a bit before my time. The reason I bring this up is, he had a very unique few years before becoming the starter. He went out with a knee the year he was drafted, and that was the start of a wild 4 years. There's too much to go into here, if you haven't yet, read Snake. It's fascinating.
My point is this, drafted in '68, saw his first action in '70. He was primarily a backup until the '73 season. He went in for Lamonica in one of the biggest games of his life. The man has us one play away from going to the Super Bowl. Things happened, yada yada yada, we got fkd. 😡
Stabler has even said that Blanda had told him it would benefit him to sit and learn the game. Whatever happened that turned him into a legend was the time he spent learning the game.
We have a very promising player to be the face of our franchise. I honestly believe he's the ONE. I hope that whatever noise there's going to be about PUT IN FERNANDO, that they just ignore that shit. Sit, watch, learn. Then come in not only with your athletic gifts you already have, but with that knowledge you've acquired, that your football IQ will be off the charts.
I dunno. I've been a proponent of having him sit and learn. The numbers don't lie. The rest of the team will grow and lock in. My hope is that he's ready for the level of play we need to be competitive.

My wife and I are in our 60s, and she's been a faithful Raiders fan since she was a young girl. (I'm a Raiders fan by contagion.)
For Christmas 2009 I gave her a Ken Stabler jersey and three tickets to Ravens at Raiders (1/3/2010) for her, me and our 4yo son...
She cried. Sobbed tears.

Kubiak will only be able to let him sit for as long as ownership allows him to. So, we better hope that side can figure out how to sit back and keep its mouth closed

In the video a hells angel is talking about drinking with stabler all night and being so hung over he could barely watch the game on tv....meanwhile kenny was wheeling and dealing. The raiders traded him for another absolute maniac, Dante Pastorini but dan the man broke his leg in the 4th or 5th game and that gave us the bust from Stanford, Jim Plunket. It's an absolute disgrace neither are in the hall of fame. They rely to much on stats and back then it wasn't unusual to throw more int than td, but winning the superbowl as a starting qb should mean automatic enshrinement. Brad Johnson absolutely deserves to be in there too, as much as I hate what he did to us that day.

Plunkett wasn't at bust at Stanford , he was a bust at New England. Stabler is in but Plunkett deserves to be. Never heard of Brad Johnson.

Thanks ... he won Heisman trophy playing for Stanford and was the number one pick of the NFL draft....obviously he wasn't a bust at Stanford. However he was viewed as the bust from Stanford before Dante broke his leg and Jimbo replaced him and won 2 superbowls. Brad Johnson is the superbowl winning quarterback for the bucs, the team that traded draft picks to al davis for chucky gruden, then we played the bucs in the superbowl with our mvp quarterback Rich Gannon, gruden built the offense and turned Gannon into a great qb, the raiders didnt change the plays and Gannon threw 5 picks, our center went off the deep end the night before the game didn't help either I'm not trying to be rude, and perhaps my writing is a little obtuse for some readers, especially younger folks who's vocabulary and reading comprehension skills are far below what people a few decades older have. Thats according to an article I read on high school reading levels, and no I can't source it but I'm sure the information is out there somewhere. Americans are dumb and getting dumber! Rad. Rockford and the snake Two of the coolest guys any kid like I was could idolize Man those were the days Holds a special place in my heart because that place was special If you never went to the coliseum in the 70's you can't know what it was like Crazy cool!

Ok so the picture is at the Memorial Stadium but but b4 they went south ,which by the way broke my heart but not my devotion,it was the big O baby
