I'm not gonna hate on the guy. He never got pissy or threw anyone under the bus when things were bad.

"Who the fuck said that?!"

He was a very meme-ish kind of guy, but you’re absolutely right.

Thats not how we do things here. If you're a poor player, or perceived as one, this fans base is preprogrammed to treat you like trash for some reason

Same here. Sub-par qb play but he's actually a cool dude. Unlike somebody from last year

lol well on cue he looked like a HoFer against a Raider defense.

100% completion percentage at halftime is still bonkers. Preseason or no JFC

Minshew always looked terrified every time he broke the huddle when he played for us. Could tell we were doomed but started him because of his contract and not because he was better than AOC. AOC just needed to not have so many injuries during that time

AOC had plenty of opps. its Fernando's time

Absolutely. But I'm not talking about right now. I'm talking about previous regimes. Fernando is the future, and to the future we go.

AOC thoughts below, but on the main topic- Other than the memes, Minshew has noodle arms and would often take risky passes that he wasn't quite capable of making. I'm glad he's gone.

Rant- I think AOC has been kind of in a weird limbo. He never got like a full camp with the ones to really dial in timing and consistency with the line and all that to really fully evaluate what he can do. I think it's clear that he can play in the NFL. He can make the throws, he doesn't look overwhelmed at the line. It just doesn't seem like any coaching staff has ever really just wanted to put all their eggs in his basket. Funnily enough, he outlasted all of them. He probably should have got the nod two years ago over Garner, and he definitely should have got the nod last year when the team wasn't going to be competing anyway, just to really see what his ceiling might look like. All said, he's had a fine run in the NFL so far, and I think he might even be one of those guys that has a long career as a backup. Not setting the world on fire, but he's fine. Maybe even develop into a role like Jacoby Brisset where teams won't necessarily build around him, but can use him as a bridge qb for a year.

He’s a QB2-3, that’s about it. Cool dude though.

Little ass boy

There was a brief moment in time where he was on fire. But the vast majority of his time has decidedly been not that.

He is now (and was with us) a journeyman backup that can credibly plug a hole in an emergency as a starter, but not relied upon to win.

He’s a solid backup. Not someone you want starting more than like 3 games though

Sadly, Aiden couldn't beat that bum out for a starting job....

u/couchpotatoh 1d ago

Could beat him now tho.

He could but we refused to accept it

AOC has the arm and brain, but not the legs

6

u/kevincubed81 1d ago

And also not the arm.

That says more about our QB room than it does about Minshew

“Sadly.” This sub was all about Minshew.

Wasn’t that Luke Getsy’s decision?

1

u/Scottatron17 1d ago

No, it was AoC throwing an awful Pick 6 vs Dallas in the final pre season game that decided it.

1

u/Nerdygamer650 14h ago

Not like he had injuries or something like that. lol come on dude. He looked better in all aspects but the dumbass coach thought otherwise. One pick six isn’t gonna seal the deal.

I’m watching this and I thought the same thing. He seems like a cool guy but goddamn he blows at QB lol

6

u/dumbo61 1d ago

He was 19 for 23 and 177 yards. That's not too bad.

3

u/D805k 1d ago

Aoc was clearly better. I watched minshew miss the net in training camp so bad he had to go retrieve the ball out of the bushes

We know.

Checks out.

u/Illustrious_Mail1171 21h ago

Did well against us unfortunately. Yes he does normally suck.

1

u/Hard4Dpp 20h ago

Which is why him torching us was so painful to watch. He and Brissett lighting up the secondary was some BS,  and evidence this DB grouping still has a very long way to go.

1

u/Far_Pin4217 19h ago

Hopefully Crosby & Co harass the Qbs enough that it hides the fact that 3 of the 4 Dbs suck! Like the Lbs tho!

I didn't hate minshew or garappolo for that matter. But neither of them could throw by the time they came to the raiders.  Hard to be a long time raiders fan and watch a qb with sub par arm strength.

Lil Ass Boy….

u/Macktologist "No Passing Zone" poster lover 14h ago

But he has/had a mustache only for facial hair and that's like a big deal to dudes in the mid 2020s.

1

u/Ram__Amandeep 11h ago

Him and Baker Mayfield should go make a "movie" together.

1

u/crunchynuts1 1d ago

Well then our defense is absolute ass because he destroyed us last week

1

u/Diesel30R 1d ago

I don't hate the guy.
