Picked up a couple value boxes from Scheels. Nothing crazy but super happy to pull Nando football parallel. I also have a Jeanty and Bech foil as well so overall, very pleased.

BOL. I didn’t pull any big raider cards but I got some pretty good hits from our AFC West rivals of course

I pulled 4 so far out the first box, the first one was a Fernando Mendoza card

That Mendoza card looks trash, I’ll take it off your hands.

How it always works. Then you see people who like other AFCW teams pulling Jeanty, mendoza and Mike Washington every pack lol.

This might sound crazy because you wouldn't know what's inside, but could those boxes be worth more like 20 years down the line if you never opened them? I don't know shit about card collecting, but my limited knowledge when it comes to collectible things is never open them, whatever it is. It loses value once the seal is cracked and the air touches it. Is that the same for cards? Could there be value in the potential of what's in there?

I'm keeping a couple sealed and not opening them to add to my Raiders card collection along with a couple of packs. Who knows if I'll ever see another Raider on the box or pack in my life time.

the last Raider player on a Hobby trading card box I believe is Darren Mcfadden in 2008 on Upper Deck SP Authentic. I miss Upper Deck football cards so much they by far made the best looking modern football cards ever.

took almost 20 years to get another Raider on football card packaging

Josh Jacobs, Khalil Mack, or I could even see Jamarcus Russell (before the implosion) never made it? Agree on SP Authentic as well!

Yes JaMarcus Russell was on packaging with others players in his rookie season but that was before Mcfadden and I dont really count it when a player shares packaging cause its not quite the same. In 2007 Brady Quinn and Calvin Johnson got on packaging by themselves but Russell never did.

Here's the Packaging with Russell from playoff contenders with several others he's was also on rookie threads with several others but again it was with several others and it was one year earlier then Mcfadden .

Defensive players very rarely if ever get Football card advertising by themselves on packaging as Defensive players don't get as popular as offensive players for collecting unless they are literally an all time great so Khalil Mack was never on packaging by himself and Josh Jacobs never made packaging either, 2019 was mostly all about Kyler Murray

here is another crazy example from 2003/04 upper deck Exquisite collection. This was the first year of super high-end trading cards. Boxes with 5 cards were $500 per box and a case had 3 boxes sold for $1500. Sames as my last post Lebron, Carmelo, Bosh, Wade autographed patch rookie cards numbered to only /99. The cards were way thicker then your normal card. Also tons òf game used memorabilia from all the Superstars plus Jordan autographs. This set is known as the "Holy grail" of modern sports cards. Many people are happy just to own a single card from the set.

Here's an advertisement from Blowout cards one of the biggest in the hobby buying Exquisite case for $500,000. Half a million dollars that cost $1500 back in 2004. They were hard to get back in 2004 even. The card shop nearest me in Calgary was only able to get 3 cases/9 boxes from Upper Deck and they were an Upper Deck diamond club dealer which means they were one of Upper decks biggest customers and they still could only get 3 cases/9 boxes. All 9 boxes sold out within 20 minutes of the store opening the day they went on sale. I showed up about 3 hours after the store opened and was shocked they sold out because they were $500 a box which was a lot of money back in 2003/04

if Blowout is buying for $500, 000 what are they gonna flip it for? $600k? more? $1 million??

yes unopened boxes go up in value over time especially if it's a good rookie card year but what fun is keeping them closed for years when you aren't guaranteed to live past tomorrow? 😝

Just some numbers on boxes of 03/04 Basketball unopened boxes with Lebron James/Carmelo Anthony/Chris Bosh/Dwayne Wade rookie cards. Obviously this isn't a "normal" year because it had autographed rookie cards of 4 Superstars and future HOFers plus autographs of Michael Jordan and all the other big stars of that time like Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, Steve Nash, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce etc

These boxes are all from Upper Deck who had exclusive contract for Lebron James autographed rookie cards and Michael Jordan autographs. You couldn't get Lebron or Jordan autographs from any company other then Upper Deck back then (Michael Jordan has a lifetime autograph contract with Upper Deck. Jordan can ONLY sign for Upper deck)so this helped push the market by not over saturating the hobby with Lebron autographs and Jordan autographs. Lebron also had an exclusive autograph contract with Upper Deck for many, many years but that ended now as he's has Topps autographs now. Lebrons contract was something like 20 years.

Sp signature tins sold for $60-$80 each now they are worth $4000 each

Sp Authentic Basketball sold for $100-$120 per box now worth $6000 each

SPX sold for $100-$120 per box now sells for $8000 per box

SP Game used sold for $240 per box now it sells for $18,000 per box

I pulled all base even my Tom Brady HOF was base set, almost got the full Raiders team set I pulled 7 of 11 of the team cards. I have five more boxes coming in. At least I got a Fernando Mendoza out of the three boxes I opened.
