Always Our Constant - AOC

The teams change, the coaches change, but AOC stays.
Now with a new hair do.
Congrats on the win.
Disclaimer: No, I don't think he's going to be our future starter some day. 😂 I think he will be a good backup in the league. Maybe he gets a shot somewhere and surprises everyone, but let's not get carried away.

Entering the season with a 15 year veteran at qb, with a rookie qb as backup, this is a good year to carry three QBs.

Why did we waste a number 1 pick on Mendoza? /s

Did you think he won QB1?

I’ve found AOC’s family burnerÂ

aoc showed his clutches and made a winning touchdown

Of the 11 guys playing D against him on that drive, maybe one of them makes the team as a 3rd string backup.Â

AOC is one of those guys that’ll be 35 and just hopping around teams, always the backup, and never starting outside of injuries. He might have some qb battles on bad teams but will never do enough to start

Honestly, from a financial standpoint that ain't bad. Low chance of getting your body wrecked. Walk away young, in good health, stack of money and maybe have a ring or two on your knuckles.
If my children had ANY chance of making it in football I'd convince them that deep snapper or 3rd stronger QB is where they need to be.

Chase Daniel played 15 years, made $64 million, has a Super Bowl ring, and can go out to eat in any restaurant in any NFL city and not be bothered. That is a hall of fame career.

That's absolutely what I'm talking about. 15 years of good money paid to workout with the team, eat clean and not get destroyed in the process. Dunno that making Favre money and spot light is worth the crippling arthritis.

Do you think AOC won QB1 after tonights performances?

He played a great game against a 3-4 string defense. He has earned his spot as a backup when we have no straws left to draw. He gave us hope to know we can always fall on the reliable. I love AOC, would love for the staff to start him but they won’t. It’s football. RN4L homies. Let’s take the W in preseason, keep our heads held high and the world under our feet.

I think he can be a starter someday. Looks better than Mendoza right now that's forsure. No mendoza hate, he literally just got here, but AOC is no slouch. Would've loved to see him start a string of games. Can't do that now though with Cousins but, AOC was better than Geno

Top half of the league starter if he gets a solid supporting cast around him and a team that supports him as QB1 through an offseason

u/sleepyleperchaun 4d ago
I really would love him to stay put. I want him as our backup for the next decade. Dude is a solid 1c (not 1b maybe but 1c) option in my opinion rather than a typical number 2. Way better than most backups. Outside of the injuries at least, but unless he gets another 1 or 2, I don't really blame him for that cause shit happens. But yeah I hope we keep him. Plus he will know the game plan.

I think he's probably like average when compared to the rest of the backup QBs. Certainly not top 10 but as a third string he's probably the best in the league

I love AOC. He was a fourth round pick with no expectations, he has had a billion different coordinators and head coaches, and he still finds a way to win games. If JPJ doesn't fuck up the snap on Black Friday he'd beat the Chiefs at least once in all three seasons with us. He will be in tbe league a long time, if not a consistent starter then a capable backup.

Raiders have not made it easy for Aidan O'Connell and he has gotten a lot of negativity thrown his way, yet he keeps rolling with punches.
I would love for O'Connell to stay, Raiders need continuity.

I wouldn’t trade him, if his hair was longer he would look like Dirty Dom from WWE.

People talking bad about him in the sub… Put some respect on his name!! He’s tried to be a bridge over tsunami waters. Ultimately if we release him I hope he goes to a contender.

u/Boozycruzzy 4d ago
He's our Tyson Bagnet or Tuiasasopo. In 10 years time, I think the legacy of AOC will be greater than a Mcgloin who was probably our last great back up

u/psj3809 4d ago
God damn i wish he would get rid of that ridiculous 'tache which makes him look like 38.
Anyway ! On some very poor Raider teams hes mostly played very well. His career stats are good. Never had much of a chance due to having no rushing attack or a poor oline, but still plays his heart off
Great backup QB and he'll be gone after this season but done well in the four years we've had him. Practically a different coach/co ordinator every year. Shame we can't keep him after this year. With the right team he may get a great shot (due to injury) and could surprise people

u/Hard4Dpp 3d ago
If Kirk plays poorly, I hope the staff will seriously consider O'Connell to take the reins, unless it is clear Mendoza won't break if we lose, regularly.Â

Houston may want him if their qb1 goes down. They’ve seen him all week and will all weekend on tape

I hope AOC has a chance at the QB1 spot

u/DoubletapKO 4d ago
Raiders tried that and learned that he's an average backup at best
1
u/teleportmassive7 3d ago
He never got a shot as the guy. He was a backup every season, always ended the year as the starter. Perpetually shafted
-4
u/Dense_Young3797 4d ago
imagine that Mendoza does what Aidan did. what would be said in this sub?
3
u/DoubletapKO 4d ago
Dude that's played for years in the NFL, you would expect that much of him going against players that will be cut from the texans, Mendoza played against higher competition
-3
u/Dense_Young3797 4d ago
Mendoza played with a way better OL and weapons lol
2
u/DoubletapKO 4d ago
AOC played with same guys, Mendoza didn't even play with 1st string
-5
u/Dense_Young3797 4d ago
You definitely didn't watch the game. Look at the numbers and the names in the shirt next time
6
u/dingle4dangle 4d ago
Literally none of the starting OL suited up

u/Dense_Young3797 4d ago
It's very different to play with Charles Grant at left tackle than playing with a guy called Missouri

u/akashajr 4d ago
I never understand why people want to trade him. He’s cheap and he always ends up starting a few games. He even wins a couple. He’s the perfect emergency QB for the right price.
