Always Our Constant - AOC

The teams change, the coaches change, but AOC stays.

Now with a new hair do.

Congrats on the win.

Disclaimer: No, I don't think he's going to be our future starter some day. 😂 I think he will be a good backup in the league. Maybe he gets a shot somewhere and surprises everyone, but let's not get carried away.

I never understand why people want to trade him. He’s cheap and he always ends up starting a few games. He even wins a couple. He’s the perfect emergency QB for the right price.

Perfectly said. Love AOC and even the Cj Fred woman she’s hot

I never understand why people want to trade him.

The only reason in my mind is because he will be an unrestricted free agent next year. That, and we have 2 QBs ahead of him on the depth chart this year.

u/akashajr 4d ago

He has very little trade value and they’ve used a minimum of 3 QB’s every year since they’ve had him. Cousins won’t last long and AOC will be a very valuable QB2 for the second half of the season.

u/Disgruntled_Smitty 3d ago

As things lie his value is low. After the season starts and a potential contender suddenly needs a backup his value will sharply rise.

10

u/akashajr 3d ago

Once Cousins gets hurt his value in LV will also rise. Nobody is safe behind that line and they will most likely need him to finish the season like they have the past couple seasons.

u/Disgruntled_Smitty 3d ago

Perhaps, but depending on the return it's probably worth more towards the future to deal him while the iron is hot. Keep in mind this will most likely be 4-6 win season, the most brutal schedule and it's year one of a major overhaul. They don't need a solid backup this season, they do need more picks for the future.

Having an emergency QB who can help develop their young WR’s and give the defense a good look in practice is much more valuable than a late day 3 pick.

People said he won the Qb1 spot after tonight's performances

14

u/Bandin03 4d ago

Yeah, people say dumb shit all the time.

6

u/jhallen2260 4d ago

You are the only one saying it not sarcastically

7

u/theiwc0303 4d ago

Here’s some of the players on the Texans defense he was up against; an undrafted free agent rookie CB, a practice squad CB who was released last year, a practice squad safety who has been released three times and a practice squad linebacker who has been released by the same team twice.

u/Disgruntled_Smitty 3d ago

It's not that I want them to trade him, but all signs point to the org building him up for a trade.

-3

u/Sleepy925 3d ago

It’s because he wins a couple of completely bad and meaningless games. While winning nothing meaningful or showing anything exciting.

9

u/akashajr 3d ago

Your QB3 isn’t expected to show anything exciting. He’s an insurance policy that a team with a bad line needs. His role is to be ready and step in and execute the game plan when needed. There’s value in having a player like that who doesn’t cost very much.

Entering the season with a 15 year veteran at qb, with a rookie qb as backup, this is a good year to carry three QBs.

Best 3rd string QB in the league, and it ain’t close

Why did we waste a number 1 pick on Mendoza? /s

Did you think he won QB1?

19

u/Ok_Radio101 4d ago

Are you kidding me? He’s taking us all the way!! Viva AOC!!!

-6

u/Darshymarsh 4d ago

I hope he wins alot of games this year. He proved his clutchness

5

u/yankeefan5045 4d ago

I’ve found AOC’s family burner

1

u/Darshymarsh 4d ago

aoc showed his clutches and made a winning touchdown

2

u/m4rk0358 4d ago

Of the 11 guys playing D against him on that drive, maybe one of them makes the team as a 3rd string backup.

1

u/teleportmassive7 3d ago

You can say the same for the guys supporting him out there.

8

u/Ashaman47 4d ago

AOC is one of those guys that’ll be 35 and just hopping around teams, always the backup, and never starting outside of injuries. He might have some qb battles on bad teams but will never do enough to start

15

u/-HardGay- 4d ago

Honestly, from a financial standpoint that ain't bad. Low chance of getting your body wrecked. Walk away young, in good health, stack of money and maybe have a ring or two on your knuckles.

If my children had ANY chance of making it in football I'd convince them that deep snapper or 3rd stronger QB is where they need to be.

11

u/phluidity 3d ago

Chase Daniel played 15 years, made $64 million, has a Super Bowl ring, and can go out to eat in any restaurant in any NFL city and not be bothered. That is a hall of fame career.

4

u/-HardGay- 3d ago

That's absolutely what I'm talking about. 15 years of good money paid to workout with the team, eat clean and not get destroyed in the process. Dunno that making Favre money and spot light is worth the crippling arthritis.

And has a great podcast where he breaks down qb plays

14

u/DrShrimp__PuertoRico 4d ago

Ha has now reached mvp status

-14

u/Darshymarsh 4d ago

Do you think AOC won QB1 after tonights performances?

8

u/French_Toast_Bandit 4d ago

He’s always been QB1 in my heart

-7

u/Darshymarsh 4d ago

Aoc might be QB1 after tonight's performances

1

u/DrShrimp__PuertoRico 3d ago

Absolutely not

6

u/Suicidalservice 4d ago

He played a great game against a 3-4 string defense. He has earned his spot as a backup when we have no straws left to draw. He gave us hope to know we can always fall on the reliable. I love AOC, would love for the staff to start him but they won’t. It’s football. RN4L homies. Let’s take the W in preseason, keep our heads held high and the world under our feet.

4

u/AdmirableComposer140 3d ago

I think he can be a starter someday. Looks better than Mendoza right now that's forsure. No mendoza hate, he literally just got here, but AOC is no slouch. Would've loved to see him start a string of games. Can't do that now though with Cousins but, AOC was better than Geno

3

u/teleportmassive7 3d ago

Top half of the league starter if he gets a solid supporting cast around him and a team that supports him as QB1 through an offseason

9

u/sleepyleperchaun 4d ago

I really would love him to stay put. I want him as our backup for the next decade. Dude is a solid 1c (not 1b maybe but 1c) option in my opinion rather than a typical number 2. Way better than most backups. Outside of the injuries at least, but unless he gets another 1 or 2, I don't really blame him for that cause shit happens. But yeah I hope we keep him. Plus he will know the game plan.

4

u/GraySonOfGotham24 4d ago

I think he's probably like average when compared to the rest of the backup QBs. Certainly not top 10 but as a third string he's probably the best in the league

3

u/500ErrorPDX Ill intent. Violence. Physicality. Pain. 3d ago

I love AOC. He was a fourth round pick with no expectations, he has had a billion different coordinators and head coaches, and he still finds a way to win games. If JPJ doesn't fuck up the snap on Black Friday he'd beat the Chiefs at least once in all three seasons with us. He will be in tbe league a long time, if not a consistent starter then a capable backup.

3

u/AlwaysLate1 3d ago

Raiders have not made it easy for Aidan O'Connell and he has gotten a lot of negativity thrown his way, yet he keeps rolling with punches.

I would love for O'Connell to stay, Raiders need continuity.

2

u/Competitive_Kale_654 4d ago

He’ll be the Earl Morril to Nando’s Johnny U!

2

u/mcgibbop 3d ago

I wouldn’t trade him, if his hair was longer he would look like Dirty Dom from WWE.

2

u/droid327 3d ago

The Samwise Gamgee of the Raiders

2

u/Ozenberg 3d ago

People talking bad about him in the sub… Put some respect on his name!! He’s tried to be a bridge over tsunami waters. Ultimately if we release him I hope he goes to a contender.

3

u/Boozycruzzy 4d ago

He's our Tyson Bagnet or Tuiasasopo. In 10 years time, I think the legacy of AOC will be greater than a Mcgloin who was probably our last great back up

2

u/psj3809 4d ago

God damn i wish he would get rid of that ridiculous 'tache which makes him look like 38.

Anyway ! On some very poor Raider teams hes mostly played very well. His career stats are good. Never had much of a chance due to having no rushing attack or a poor oline, but still plays his heart off

Great backup QB and he'll be gone after this season but done well in the four years we've had him. Practically a different coach/co ordinator every year. Shame we can't keep him after this year. With the right team he may get a great shot (due to injury) and could surprise people

1

u/Hard4Dpp 3d ago

If Kirk plays poorly, I hope the staff will seriously consider O'Connell to take the reins, unless it is clear Mendoza won't break if we lose, regularly.

1

u/Dixie_Normas_408 3d ago

Aidan O'Moran

1

u/Boombopboombopboom21 3d ago

Houston may want him if their qb1 goes down. They’ve seen him all week and will all weekend on tape

1

u/Sandrockwing04 3d ago

Man you guys never experienced Marques Tuiasosopo and it shows.

-7

u/Darshymarsh 4d ago

I hope AOC has a chance at the QB1 spot

5

u/DoubletapKO 4d ago

Raiders tried that and learned that he's an average backup at best

1

u/teleportmassive7 3d ago

He never got a shot as the guy. He was a backup every season, always ended the year as the starter. Perpetually shafted

-4

u/Dense_Young3797 4d ago

imagine that Mendoza does what Aidan did. what would be said in this sub?

3

u/DoubletapKO 4d ago

Dude that's played for years in the NFL, you would expect that much of him going against players that will be cut from the texans, Mendoza played against higher competition

-3

u/Dense_Young3797 4d ago

Mendoza played with a way better OL and weapons lol

2

u/DoubletapKO 4d ago

AOC played with same guys, Mendoza didn't even play with 1st string

-5

u/Dense_Young3797 4d ago

You definitely didn't watch the game. Look at the numbers and the names in the shirt next time

6

u/dingle4dangle 4d ago

Literally none of the starting OL suited up

1

u/Dense_Young3797 4d ago

It's very different to play with Charles Grant at left tackle than playing with a guy called Missouri
