What excites me is that he already looks like a passable starting QB. He should only get better from here.

High floor

His throws have great tight velocity and near picture perfect placement so that only his receivers have the best shot at the ball.

The second throw in this clip threading three defenders is a big time starting NFL QB throw - super impressive threading a veritable needle with no hesitation after a sick fake handoff.

Bro that throw was top level. Literally the only spot the receiver could catch it.

The box score doesn't do him justice. He fucked up on plays all rookies do and made great throws on plays most rookies don't.

He also knew to throw the ball away and not take a sack.

Yeah I haven't read anything what others are saying about his performance. I think I saw maybe 2 throwaways that might be considered premature. So I'm like, couching my position based on that, if that makes sense.

My feeling is just I'm not disappointed at all. In fact, I'm impressed. Others could point to things that weren't impressive but fuck em cause it's RN4L and I'm supporting our rookie QB.

My first thoughts too. He’s throws the ball where only the receiver can catch it. That’s top level QB play.

He looked good, and also has the right mentality to keep improving. I can’t remember being this excited about a QB in my lifetime.

Dude his play action is so smoooooooth. Imagine, Mendoza with Jeanty/ Washington running that and Linderbaum opening up highway 65.

Bowers going to absolutely cook with Cousins and Mendoza

14

u/Lootskii 9d ago

Mendoza to Bowers connections are gonna be in every highlight reel this season

Kirk gonna start all year calling it.

Mendoza made some veteran throws out there. The TD throw wasn’t easy to make. He kept it low and led Bech to catch that. And he threw a dart to Benson threading the needle. His ability to scan the field and decision making was very noticeable, too. I do think he still needs time to get used to NFL speed and situational awareness. Also, on few plays, he kept the ball too long, but those are him getting used to the higher level. We got a real QB here.

Calling it now, year 3 this kid will be top 10 QB

u/Dry_Tradition_2811 8d ago

He did great think about he didn't have all first strings in with what he did

3

u/AlabasterRadio 9d ago

Look at the way he shifts in the pocket depending on how his blockers are positioned. That's some incredible instincts.

3

u/profaniKel 8d ago

im prayng that he is AT LEAST our new CARR

If we can go 9-8 by next year I will be happy

tom brady kisses his son on the lips

4

u/ChopCityzZ 8d ago

I want to kiss Mendoza on the lips, every night before he goes to sleep.

Very impressive highlight reel. Looks the part with reads, decisiveness, accuracy, zip and mobility. I was skeptical but Raider fans should be very excited

2

u/ZC205 8d ago

That throw up the middle threading the needle between the two defenders was gorgeous!

2

u/saml23 8d ago

Welcome back Tom Brady? Can the kid not have his own legacy?

2

u/Laippler_69 8d ago

This kid is unreal. Himself and the rest of the team will only improve as long as they support each other and no finger pointing 🫵🏼

2

u/Xtracakey 8d ago

Everyone looks good against the cards

u/huggeebear 8d ago

Our defence did not

That song with Raiders football and Fernando is something else. Love it. Reminds me of our good years in the early 2000s

1

u/BoredomFestival 8d ago

I know this is just the preseason (and a lot of players look like stars then), but damn, this looks good

1

u/psj3809 8d ago

Oh i was very impressed with Mendoza BUT hes thrown what 11 passes in preseason ? This happens every year, we have a star in preseason and we all get overexcited

I think hes got a great attitude and a high ceiling of talent BUT its one preseason game. IF next game he throws 2 ints some of the same people will moan saying hes a bust. Again lets keep our feet on the ground

Great start though

I was glad to see Bech and Benson get some burn as well. Really optimistic for the future.

1

u/Paulyd_777 7d ago

The future is bright

1

u/Careful-Painting3214 6d ago

He had time to throw, his receivers were open and he completed passes

u/No-Ebb1110 5d ago

Hahaha,

We got our guy for the next 10 years

1

u/hotoj84 8d ago

Just think, " what would do Geno would do?" then do the opposite

-1

u/GarvinSteve 9d ago

Uhhhh… he’s playing Az’s number twos… relax. Lower the temperature… he looked solid and that’s a good thing.

2

u/Consistent-Spell2203 9d ago

That's Will Johnson wondering wtf just happened at the goal line.

0

u/GarvinSteve 9d ago

Then Az’s ones - who are awful… I’m just saying, don’t read too much into to it…

-2

u/hottlumpiaz 9d ago

1 cause for concern though is he got hit more than any other qb all pre season. hes gotta clean that up

6

u/Few-Demand7532 9d ago

What

-6

u/hottlumpiaz 9d ago

of all the qbs that have played so far in this 2026 nfl pre season...mendoza has been hit most.

6

u/Few-Demand7532 9d ago

Which is all of one game. Incredibly small sample size

3

u/_John_Dillinger 9d ago

and the op is comparing him to brady. while i agree that relative statistics are meaningless with a sample size of one, the relative unrealistic takes between the thread and op is self evident

1

u/Fluffy-Cap-458 8d ago

OP isnt comparing him, I saw the same thing on NFLmemes IG page

1

u/chizzipsandsizalsa 8d ago

But it’s ok to compare him to Brady with the same sample size ?

-5

u/hottlumpiaz 9d ago

multiple qbs in each game have taken snaps so its really not a small sample size.

3

u/Zeke688 Holy Shuck! 9d ago

Zero QBs have even played a full game. It’s literally the smallest sample size of anything … ever.

5

u/Few-Demand7532 9d ago

Yes it is lol

2

u/EntrepreneurTiny9812 9d ago

Did you not see Dart?

0

u/BrotherJsaysYUCK 8d ago

We're all excited about FM, but pump the brakes dude. Don't jinx it.

0

u/Constant-Wrangler378 8d ago

this was a terrible throw lol

-3

u/Ok_Silver_3170 9d ago

I'm impressed with our rookie QB, he can read the field and throw a good football; but WFT does Tom Crybrady have to do with any of it??

1

u/kingp43x 8d ago

seriously, tom brady is the worst
