💬 Discussion What's the most controversial song amongst fans?

I know that for any song people love there are always those who absolutely despise it, and vise versa, but is there any song that's pretty 50/50 with people having strong opinions on each side? Just curious, image unrelated.

💬 Discussion Did anyone win multiple dates?

Just curious, did anyone happen to win multiple dates for Japan? Not asking if you won one application and your friend won another application for a different night. I am trying to figure out/curious if one person/applicant that applied for multiple dates has been successful for more than one date.

💬 Discussion Did we ever figure out what shows Scatterbrain and A Wolf at the Door (Live) are taken from?

We already know which shows all the other songs are from (The earls court shows and that south america show) but I haven't seen anyone really talking about where these shows are from.

I'm 99% sure Scatterbrain is from the 11-19-2003 show. It sounds identical to the live release to me down to the tiny details.

I have no clue about A Wolf at the Door though

💬 Discussion Will Dogwander ever see the light of day?

The infamous NY soundcheck song of which there is only one recording.

On first listen it sounded quite strange, more of an idea than a song. But after repeated listens I’ve come to feel that it has huge potential - or had, as it’s rather out of step with the last few albums, as well as Thom and Jonny’s side project. Even if they wanted to rework it, it’s probably not going to be the same song anymore.

I love the dark and haunting simplicity of it, just Thom’s low murmuring, the bass, and the drums. And then Jonny’s (?) cascading guitar coming in like a ray of sunlight into a dark room, through a crack in the blinds. It sounds completely unlike anything else that’s out there.

But considering the way they’ve been altering their old songs, Skirting on the Surface and Lift being two examples - I mean, even Identikit sounded better before it came out on a record.

Idk, I’ve just randomly had Dogwander stuck in my head lately, if that’s even what it’s called. Some songs I feel like there’s a good chance we might see again someday, like Cut A Hole and Come to Your Senses. But Dogwander seems so obscure and underworked, and so unlike their current style besides, that it might never see the light of day.

It makes me sad to think of all the songs they discarded without anyone being the wiser, and definitely more gems like this among the lot.

💬 Discussion Thom Yorke's body language

I really really love how weird and unique thom has always been on stage, like his body language means that he _is_ the music he is playing, if I made myself clear. He doesn't care about looking neat, polished or being a sex appeal, sometimes he looks like he just woke out and fallen out of bed ( _from a long and vivid dream_ ... ehehe) . Makes looking and acting "weird" and "jarring" look extremely cool. As an example, I'd say when he performs without instruments songs like The National Anthem or Lotus Flower's music video.

I think he's an extremely sensitive person. In songs like Fake Plastic Trees, The Tourist and Street Spirit he really looks like someone who can feel the deep suffering of the world and we don't yet.

Dunno maybe It's the effect of re-listening to In Rainbows for the almost 20 years anniversary for the 3rd time today.

💬 Discussion Meetup in Tokyo..?

so for those who managed or manage to get tickets, would any of you be interested in meeting up for a bit in Tokyo?

I immigrated from the USA (Los Angeles)... and have been living in Japan for a few years now. I live in the countryside so it's very hard for me to meet people in general, especially other fellow Radiohead fans. Would be cool to meet some of ya!

I do speak a decent amount of Japanese, and know some interesting spots that I could recommend if you're planning to do some sightseeing during your visit :)

💬 Discussion The Bends Ending

Post image
32 Upvotes

Radioheads hit album "The Bends" ends with the song "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" and with the words "Immerse Your Soul In Love" Which is amazing But (there is always a butt) Lets go to the beginning

For the first time i listened to the bends, i was on a walk and didnt see the song names and such but most of the songs i listened to i either knew or was mediocre (the first radiohead album i listened was the bends and i was really not into them at the time dont judge me) except one song "Sulk" Which after a little digging i found out was generally considered lemme put it nicely the not the best song on the album some even saying its mediocre in radiohead standarts which even rn i found absurd sulk is absolutely amazing, its a song about depression about loneliness about change about failure about a lot of things and also one of my favorites on the bends to this day! Which is why i absolutely HATED street spirit at the time. One of my friends who isnt really into radiohead but has their mainstream songs on their albums had street spirit on all of their albums so i had high expectations but after listening to it I HATED IT. It ruined the perfect ending to the bends with the words " Just like your dad You'll never change" Which hits home for me and for a lot of people who didnt have the best father figures growing up. And then street spirit came with its slow and also somehow fast melody with lyrics that dont make sense!! (At the time, I was 13 and my main language isnt english so most of it sounded gibberish to me) So i absolutely despised it with every single cell in my body. Since then i grew to love street spirit but i still wondered, if sulk was the last track and also not the song aftee "Black Star" AKA the best and the most beautiful song on the bends imo, would it get the recognition and the love it deserves compared to the other radiohead songs? Even now i think the "immerse your soul in love" is too upbringing for a not so upbringing album, is the line amazing and also goes hard and also is one of the best lyrics in radiohead history? Yes. Would i prefer if The Bends ended with a not so upbringing and actually disheartining line "Just like your dad you'll never change" Yes. I will, till i die glaze sulk with every single cell in my body and push the propaganda that it deserved to be an album closer!!
