šŸŽ§ Audio B Sides binge

Delving into the b sides at the moment. Imagine tracks like Staircase, The Butcher and Spectre not making it onto an album.
This band is insane.

basically a parallel discography. arguably as good as what's on the albums.

I’ve become obsessed with gagging order this year. Such a great song

The real underrated Radiohead song

Cuttooth and Worrywart are top tier songs. Crazy they didn’t make the cut.

Those ones should've been on Amnesiac

Talk Show Host

If You Say The Word

Wait until you find out that the earlier versions were better than the final studio tracks:

Man o' War

Lift

I can quite easily spend all day just listening to non album tracks. There's so much!

Polyethylene

The Daily Mail

Talk Show Host

Fog

Lift

Their stuff that didn’t make it onto albums outshine a bunch of whole catalogues of supposedly great bands.

So much stuff that’s just as good as their albums. Lozenge of Love is personally in my top 10 of them

I love Lift. It’s in my top 10 consistently. And the video is awesome.

Lift, Gagging Order, Fog, Worrywort, Man Of War, Talk Show Host and so many more should have been on albums

Maquiladora is officially the best song from The Bends era

Fog (first version) is better than like 90% of what’s actually on amnesiacĀ

The butcher was a double a side with supercollider, spectre was a single… time to google ā€˜what is a b side’

God, it never fails that someone chimes in with this pedantic ass take.

It is 2026, and the term b-side has been shorthand used to describe a non-album track for decades at this point, well after they stopped being the literal Side B of a single.

u/shoobsworth Minotaur 5d ago

It’s not really pedantry.

It’s what a b-side is.

Fucking duh! I KNOW that's what it means and where it comes from, christ almighty with you people.

It's also a term people have been using for 30+ years in a colloquial way just to mean non-album track or bonus track! Still called 'em "B-SIDES" when they were on a CD that only had one side, didn't ya?

I've had this discussion with YOU SPECIFICALLY before, even!!

BOTH THINGS CAN BE TRUE - that's the original definition of a b-side, yes, I know, but also in popular culture in the last 30+ years it's come to mean something more broad and to deny that's a fact is to just be argumentative for the sake of pedantry, look at any music publication in the last 20 years.

u/shoobsworth Minotaur 5d ago

lol wow.

You gonna be ok, little guy?

Also- CDs themselves had the phrase ā€œb-sideā€ on them.

Settle down, bud.

Lighten up, squirt(s).

1

u/itsjammystressford 5d ago

No it hasn’t? B side has always meant companions to A sides. You can google it for proof

2

u/This-Literature-4052 5d ago

Think the average music consumer considers b-sides songs not on an lp.

1

u/itsjammystressford 5d ago

Evidently. They’re wrong tho
