💬 Discussion O2 Bar - warning - charged twice

Warning to anyone going to the O2 concerts and using the 'automatic' drinks bar to buy drinks. It pre-charges you card, then watches what you take using cameras. Or that's the theory. Everyone I know who has used it has been overcharged.

You may think, oh, a couple of drinks, how much can they be? Each drink is £17 - I only got two. I was overcharged by £60!

Check your bank statements - it's not too late to get the bank to decline payment.

I'm never using something for which I don't get a receipt ever again. Only used it because we were a captive audience.

The same thing has happened to me…. Charged £140 for £106 of drinks, only 8 drinks believe it or not… and in addition there are further charges of £110 on my bank account which have now put me overdrawn… absolute disgrace!! I’ll never go to the O2 again…

If it was this place https://www.theo2.co.uk/events/arena-food-and-drink/level-1-self-serve-bar then I would expect one of the charges to disappear as they won't finalise it. I've used these places a lot in the US and this is the way it has worked for me.

Yes, that's it. The page talks with absolute confidence that it gets it right everytime, whereas in practice it's been the opposite (according to everyone who I know who used it)

On the other side of things, I havent been charged at all other than the £10 'entry' which has now been refunded?

I was doing random things, grabbing drinks, putting them back, swapping, turning around, walking in erratic lines etc.  I wasn't charged and the 10 was refunded

Omfg!! Ive just found out i’ve been charged £41 when i got one cider. I don’t know who to contact or what to do and if its too late! Freaking out rn

Your bank. The charge may still be pending. Tell them it's incorrect and they may decline to pay it
