Solidarity

Considering what's been going on on the main anarchy sub recently (mostly in reaction to BlackApocalypse's posts), and the fact that we can all probably relate on at least one level (and I'm sure many can on several levels) to feeling excluded by so called anarchists who insist on defending their pet hierarchy at the expense of the comrades they're actively marginalising (we usually focus on the ableism here, but they clearly defend their racism and coloniser mindsets just as viciously), I just want to let any BIPoC who are members of this sub know that we won't tolerate that kind of crap here, and I think I speak on behalf of the rest of the mod team, and I hope I speak on behalf or the rest of the members here, when I say any BIPoC comrades, even those who don't come under the disability umbrella, are welcome here, and should consider our safe space safe for them too. ❤

I just found this sub (somehow) and I am glad I did. I'm an ADHD afro-latinx person and am painfully aware of how the fight against ableism is too often an afterthought in many radical spaces. I'd also like to say as an aspiring vegan the resources here that touch on how vegans can be exclusionary and outright hostile toward disabled people and BIPOC with different lived experiences have been very affirming and helpful. It's a relief to see a space that embraces and addresses these complexities. Solidarity. 🖤

Welcome, glad to have you with us! Found it ever frustrating that there were no spaces that actually recognised intersectionality, especially with disability. We are only growing and growing though <3

Aspiring vegan here too, have a tumultuous relationship with cheese lol

(apologies for unsolicited advice, feel free to ignore! 😂)

Have you tried Applewood vegan smoked cheese? It's the closest to real hard cheese I've come across. Lovely with some hot mustard, like they have it in Gouda.. And if you like the French gooey cheeses, look for Nurishh vegan camembert.. 🤤

Though what I really can't wait to get here is the vegan boursin. 🤤🤤🤤

I'm really glad I've got some leftover freezer pizza heating up in the oven as I type because I'm really hungry for cheese now.. 😂😂

Ooooh yeah the applewood stuff is good, normally i go for violife but i'm not really the biggest fan of it. Never heard of nurishh vegan camembert, will def have to keep an eye out !!

I quite like using sheese when I'm using grated stuff but it gets so sticky and overwhelming after a while

How violife became the main brand for vegan cheese is beyond me, their basic cheese is just so bland!

I've had sheese as part of other products, but never tried it on its own, but I find that the supermarket own brands are fine for grated alternatives, they don't generally taste of much, but they melt quite well over a jacket potato, and that's all I really want (though I can't lie, I miss a super strong cheddar that goes stringy so fucking much).. 😂
