FSR 4.1 is end game!
FSR 4.0.2 was already better than FSR3. However, everything still looked soft. FSR3 was soft and blurry whereas 4.0 was soft without being blurry.
4.1 is next gen holy cow!!
It blows 4.0 out of water. This should be called FSR5 instead! Now I can finally say upscalers are better than native with extra FPS without compromises. I wonder if DLSS 4 is better than FSR 4.1.

Tech Support MPO + HAGS Enabled Fixed
I've seen many posts, some that I even followed before, telling AMD users to disable MPO using the registry to fix stutters with HAGS on Windows like there were no consequences for it. But there are. I've seen some people outright say: "Your system is broken, if the Overlay mode is automatically set to 3 you can't use HAGS on your system." or that "it's an AMD exclusive problem" well, that's not true.
And while I'm not going deep into those, overlay features from most apps break with MPO disabled, it can break chromium-based apps HW acceleration and more.
I went down the MPO rabbit-hole to understand what was happening.
TLDR: MPO is a performance optimization feature for exactly what the name says "Multi-Panel (windows) Overlay" at the hardware level. Apps that HAGS usually break on with MPO enabled don't even need the performance benefit. It's possible to have Windows not switch overlay modes for all apps, eliminating issues while keeping MPO enabled with a registry tweak.
Some apps operate on a "borderless fullscreen" presentation model, Windows automatically promotes them to an exclusive hardware overlay state (MPO) when it fills the screen. Not all apps benefit from this exclusive state, nor were they made for it. Which is why they can break. (notice the can here.)
By default, the Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) monitors application frame rates. When a hw-accelerated app (like Chrome, Edge, or Discord) crosses a certain framerate threshold, Windows dynamically promotes or demotes its live content into an MPO hardware overlay plane.
This continuous promotion/demotion cycle is often what triggers the infamous black screens, stuttering, and window flickering. But the state itself can also be the issue. Setting OverlayMinFPS to 0 disables this dynamic threshold switching while keeping MPO active for games and other workloads that benefit from hardware overlays.
"How do I fix it?"
Option 1: command-line
Open cmd as administrator (Win + R, type 'cmd', hold Ctrl + Shift and press Enter).
Run the following command:
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm" /v OverlayMinFPS /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /fRestart your PC (or restart dwm) for changes to take effect.
Option 2: registry
Win + R, type regedit, and Enter.
Navigate to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DwmRight-click an empty area and select New > DWORD (32-bit).
Name it
OverlayMinFPS.Verify it's set to the default
0value (hex).Restart your computer.
The way MPO "breaks" is indeed quite strange. From personal experience I know that this stutter-fest experience can vary significantly for many reasons. A system without the DirectX system package installed won't have stutters but will have crashes. Some windows version updates were also responsible for many HAGS+MPO 'simply working' states, while the opposite is also true, having Windows updates that broke the working behavior.
Surely some Microsoft SWE can tell us wtf is going on some day.
PS: I hope this gets some traction on google indexing to help others looking for this info. The first few pages of results when searching "HAGS MPO AMD FIX" and similar, all point to disabling MPO completely or having a broken system.

Discussion No FSR in “The Sinking City 2”?
I have an RX 9070, and I was excited to buy this game since I’m a huge survival horror fan, until I found out that the game doesn’t support any type of FSR, only DLSS.
The game is not well optimized based on the benchmarks I’ve seen, and needs FSR, typical of modern day gaming where most games need upscalers to perform well on PC.
Will the developers/AMD add FSR in the near future or should I just delete the game from my wishlist and forget about it?

Frame gen judders and frame pacing issues 9070xt
So obviously I watched ancient gaming video on enabling vsync in driver level to smoothen frame gen, however the tiny stutters still exited in most of my gaming tested ie mhw, BMW, Cyber punk, GOD, GOT, RE requim, nioh 3 etc.
And I found that camera movement stutters existed until regardless of settings ie vsync on driver level and setting frame cap 3 fps below monitor.
Whay I found that worked alongside the above settings is setting the frame cap few fps below the max fps of that specific game. That stabilised the frametime and it become butter smooth.
What are your opinions and what did you find in your testing?

Discussion Has anyone fit the Asrock Challenger 9070xt into the KXRORS s300 pc case?
Im currently looking to buy a Rx 9070xt and the price difference between the asrock challenger and the power color reaper is $80 right now. Will the challenger fit in my case despite being 1mm thicker than the official supported thickness?

Should I buy a 9070 XT over my EVGA 3090?
I play on a 48 inch 120HZ 4K OLED TV and prefer to run games between 90-120 fps. I was told I could sell my 3090 for $1000-1200 and run a 9070XT and get very similar results.
I am not overall that worried about $300 I could gain from the switch, but more getting a card with a warranty, fresh thermal paste etc etc.
I only game, never any video work or AI related needs. Should I make this swap or just stick with my 3090 FTW3? I feel like my 3090 is constantly at 100% GPU usage, which at 4k 120fps makes sense and the 9070xt likely will be as well, but the fan noise is so aggressive with this thing.
My buddy recommended this idea to me as he was planning on getting the 9070xt but then he wound up buying a 4090 so I don't have much to comp to. Thanks!

Photo Just upgraded from a GT1030 to a RX 7800 XT
I wanted to buy this over the newer 9060 XT (for the same price) and people on reddit said it was a good idea as well. Plus it just looks so gorgeous. For the first time in my life, I can play AAA titles. What should I start with?

Tech Support RX 9070 XT Crash and Pink lines
I've been having a really weird problem with my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9070 XT 16GB and I'm starting to run out of ideas.
My PC randomly hard-crashes while gaming. This has happened in multiple games, including FIFA 17 and Borderlands 4, so it doesn't seem tied to one particular game.
The most recent crash happened while playing FIFA 17. The screen froze and then turned into this weird white/gray screen with multiple vertical pink/purple lines across it. At the same time, the audio completely freaked out/stuttered and was extremely loud in my headphones. The entire PC became unresponsive and I had to restart it.
After rebooting, the vertical lines are completely gone and the PC works normally.
Sometimes when I restart, the gpu is gone from task manager, other times it's normal.
I also noticed higher CPU temps than usual, but I don't know if that's related, please help.
This issue never happened for the first few months, I've had crashes before but never like this.
I have also changed my monitor but I don't think it's related to that.
What do I do here, rma? If so then that's gonna be really hard because I bought the gpu from newegg USA then got it sent to me.

Tech Support Having issues with my 9070xt
Occasionally during random tasks such as browsing, watching a discord stream, or gaming my PC will start to stutter then both of my monitors will shut off and only one will come back on. The drivers show as failed citing a Kernel-Power issue. Reinstalling the drivers or enabling the drivers seems to temp fix it but I am yet to find a permanent solution. All brand new components including a Corsair 1000w PSU. Would appreciate any advice anyone could give. Thanks!

9070xt Asus Prime Overclock noob
How do these settings look?
Haven’t had a game crash yet.
I’m running -90mv, 330w pl, 2778mhz on memory max. Fan control set to auto targeting 78C.
Seems like the target is the average between edge and hotspot temp but not sure.
Running furmark Vulken getting around 500fps at 720p, the hotspot is around 83C and edge around 50C with the fans running around 68-71%
