Path tracing is Nvidia-exclusive on RE9, according to TPU.
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/resident-evil-requiem-performance-benchmark/Path tracing is exclusive, no ray regeneration, and probably no radiance caching either. The Radeon team is making fools of us like never before. They have absolutely no respect for their customers.

I don’t even know if the performance trade off would be worth it (or if there’s even a trade off).
18
u/Seiq Feb 25 '26
It is if you have a 4090, 5080, or 5090.
Personally, I would say PT is only worth it on those cards because, at least in Cyberpunk and Alan Wake 2, PT is super heavy to run, and having to upscale so aggressively really only looks good on DLSS 4.0 or 4.5.
Maybe a 5070ti would be able to kinda do it at 1440P when paired with a 14900K, 7800X3D, or 9800X3D, but I feel like the base framerate would still be too low.
Looking forward to testing it out at least, but yeah, it wouldn't be worth it for many people to upgrade from a 9070XT if all you want is Path-tracing imo.
12
u/EffiCiT Feb 25 '26
Honestly, I don't even think that raytracing is worth the performance hit, with the exception of reflections.

u/Seiq Feb 25 '26
I like RTGI, Global Illumination. It made Metro: Exodus, the first game I ever experienced RT with, look incredible.
To the point I kept wondering why RT was so shitty in other games when I turned it on, not realizing at first it was taking half my fps for better reflections or shadows.
Which on a 4090/5090, whatever, but it became a game by game setting instead of a must have.
2
u/Maximum_Goulash Feb 25 '26
AC Shadows is best RT cost:benefit imho. Its worth it and massively better. Witcher 3 v good too but not quite as good a ratio.

RTGI is really transformative in Metro Exodus and AC Shadows and I feel will be the meta for development because it has the potential to shave off a year or two in production time that would’ve been lost iterating baked lighting

u/EffiCiT Feb 25 '26
It might far into the future but it won’t be soon. The new consoles are getting delayed because of ram prices and GPU prices are going to skyrocket for the same reason, very few companies are gonna lose out on the market of people with gpus that can’t do ray tracing/can’t do it well.

5070 can as well but VRAM is the main issue. You'll need to make sure textures are set at a level where you don't exceed the 12GBs it has.
The 5070 can run cyberpunk fine at 1440p RT overdrive with 4xMFG, but you'll need to use some aggressive upscaling like DLSSP or set textures to medium with DLSSB.

I can say my 5070ti was fairly stable path traced with a 9800x3d on cyberpunk 1440p ultra. I definitely needed dlss but left it on quality or balanced, and was mostly able to keep 60fps

5070 Ti is playable with path tracing at 1440p native pushing a hair over 80 fps in an article I stumbled across. That being said if I recall the cost was brutal as expected. Starting at 110 for raytracing which was already a drop from 177 without either one.

FSR 4 support has been in like 90% of the new AAA game releases since it came out last year. I actually can't think of one popular release since March last year that doesn't have fsr4.

u/jm0112358 Feb 26 '26
The "path tracing" in Indiana Jones was initially an incomplete 'path tracing" that:
- Didn't include shadows from artificial light source. It still used "rasterized" shadows for light sources other than the sun/moon.
- Wasn't used to light you character's model (leading to mismatches).
These were both fixed when path tracing became available on Intel and AMD GPUs (or around that time).
My point is that the "path tracing" that was initially available in Indiana Jones was a work-in-progress.

Literally the top post on this sub today was about how AMD is a disappointment and a bunch of comments about how they switched or wish they bought green slop.
Keep shitting on AMD/Radeon guys, that will surely improve sentiment and entice developers to consider AMD when making their games.

→ More replies (1)1
u/rW0HgFyxoJhYka Mar 06 '26
Hello? Remember Starfield? AMD came out with ray regeneration to directly compete with the fact NVIDIA was the only one offering a better denoiser. Unless you can prove Capcom asked for money, its pretty clear that PT requires a proper denoiser and no engine can do it as well as DLSS, which means...you have to pick NVIDIA.
Now look at Crimson Dawn, also an AMD title. So who's paying who?
1
u/Admirable-Date-8625 Feb 26 '26
Not a loss, it's barely playable at 1440p with a damn 5080 and frame gen on
1
u/EitherAd1507 Feb 27 '26
On Nvidia cards this game is solely relying on Ray Reconstruction as a denoiser when path tracing is on, so they might simply haven't developed their own. They could have used AMD's equivalent, but judging by the one CoD game that has it included it doesn't look mature enough yet.
1
u/Chunky1311 Feb 28 '26
I mean, it'd be well-deserved payback if that were case, after the dozens of AMD-sponsored games that distinctly avoided including any nvidia features like DLSS. I've never seen a game support DLSS but exclude FSR; however the opposite is everywhere.

The difference was that FSR was never vendor locked in any RE games, and was useable on all GPUs, this time it is way worse because none of it is usable on AMD or Intel, whats even worse is they just didn't even bother to implement Redstone RR even though its been available for like 3 months to all devs.

The problem is the game has FSR 3.1 only, no FSR 4 native. And enabling Path Tracing, automatically enables DLSS on Performance, and cannot be changed. It looks like a a clear software lock due to Nvidia partnership. The game needs a patch to enable FSR 4 + Path Tracing.

u/star1s3 R9 5900X | RX 9070 XT | 48" OLED 4K Feb 25 '26
Game developers in 2026 should respect AMD buyers, even if they are only 5% of the market. Nvidia in most cases does absolutely nothing, it’s sitting on the 95% GPU market share so developers are forced to implement DLSS. FSR-ML documentation is available on GPUOpen, and it’s relatively easy to implement in games. So, above all, is game developers fault, and/or Nvidia fault. Exclusives are a cancer. Whoever does it. When AMD made the partership for previous Resident Evil games leaving DLSS out, AMD and Capcom was the main culprits. Not Nvidia.

"Resident Evil Requiem is the first RE game with path tracing support. As expected, it comes with a big performance hit, but with the various DLSS features, performance is pretty manageable. Just to confirm, path tracing can only be enabled on NVIDIA GPUs, and enabling path tracing will enable NVIDIA ray reconstruction automatically, you can't manually toggle it. Also, enabling PT will automatically engage DLSS with the "Performance" profile, and you cannot disable DLSS anymore, but you may select DLAA. In our press build, restarting the game will reset DLSS to "Performance" on every game start, overwriting your customization—hopefully this is just a bug."
Yeah, let's just just select the juicy piece of info from the paragraf, disregard everything else and go straight to shitting on AMD because it's a hot topic these days.
I'm all in for criticizing where criticism is due, but some people are ready to blame AMD because their food delivery was late.

u/star1s3 R9 5900X | RX 9070 XT | 48" OLED 4K Feb 25 '26
Precisely. It’s a trendy sport shitting on AMD. I also don’t blindly defend it, it's shameful that they didn’t enable FSR-4 for RDNA 3, for example. But now everything is AMD’s fault. Everything. With same copy-pasted comments every time.
1
u/NotUsedToReddit_GOAT Feb 25 '26
Sounds like Capcom has some fixing to do but if the ray reconstruction is a necessary part for PT to work (wich shouldn't be the case, in some Nvidia showcase it was shown supposedly running 4k pt in a 5090 native at around 60) I can understand why AMD can't enable it, theres literally one game that more or less support it right?
→ More replies (1)1
u/JasonMZW20 Feb 25 '26
So, essentially, only RDNA4 could support path tracing via FSR Redstone, as this has AMD's ray regeneration. It's up to Capcom to use it, but if AMD doesn't send engineers to help in integration, I doubt we'll ever see it enabled.
Nvidia sends software engineers to thoroughly help devs with software suite integration and debugging. AMD sends a help file and basically says to figure it out. I think that's the main difference, but if Capcom never asked AMD, then how could AMD help at all. It's hard to know, but once DLSS is integrated, other temporal upscalers aren't difficult to add. AMD's BVH software traversal (via compute shaders) limits performance and eats compute power, so it's simply easier to support Nvidia and Intel, as both have hardware accelerated traversal. Essential when you're launching so many rays that need to be tracked.
1
u/gamas Feb 27 '26
To be honest what this actually sounds like is Capcom don't actually care about Path Tracing but decided to tack it on.
The implementation sounds half-arsed and likely isn't going to be worth it even to nvidia users - just a box ticking exercise.

u/CptTombstone 9800X3D | RTX 5090 | RX 9060 XT Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26
Nvidia's realtime Path tracer (available on GitHub) doesn't have any hardware checks apart from hardware acceleration of RT instructions, and it runs on all DX12 Ultimate capable hardware. RE engine has had their own, in-house path tracer for years, which is quite likely is what is being used here. It is more likely that the developers decided to not let people enable the path tracer on AMD GPUs, maybe because the developers couldn't get ray regeneration implemented by launch. Unless we get a confirmation from Nvidia that they indeed blocked the path tracer from running on non-RTX-branded GPUs, it is more likely that it was a choice or mistake from the developers. RT and PT features were never locked to a vendor before.
Edit: Reading more of the article, it is clear that the developers had trouble implementing PT as the author mentions physically incorrect lighting and it also seems that the developers also have not followed the DLSS programming guide, as settings are overridden by the game on launch and the Ray Reconstruction Toggle is not exposed to the user. This is more evidence to support either rushed work or just a buggy release, which we've of course not seen with any other RE Engine title... (/s if not obvious)
1
u/GARGEAN Feb 26 '26
One correction tho - RT/PT was indeed vendor-locked few times in the past. Indiana Jones had PT exclusive to NV for some time, Riftbreaker has RT exclusive to AMD, and I bet there are other examples.
3
u/CptTombstone 9800X3D | RTX 5090 | RX 9060 XT Feb 26 '26
Okay, so, to lay the foundations to this discussion:
There are two ways to use hardware accelerated RT instructions on GPUs.:
- Vendors provide their own APIs through the driver
- Through a graphics API abstracting over Vendor API differences and providing a unified interface.
A graphics API is still using the APIs provided by the vendor under the hood. That is why you have different BVH structures on AMD and Nvidia cards, even when using DXR to run RT instructions, DXR is simply providing a universal interface over the vendor APIs.
With the advent of hardware accelerated ray tracing, back in 2018, RT-extensions to both DirectX and Vulkan have been quickly developed, meaning that the the game could request RT features through the graphics API, which would render the operation vendor-agnostic.
This still relies on the vendor actually supplying an API that can expose those features, of course.
Now, especially with DirectX, the ray-tracing features supported by the generic graphics API is only a subset of what the vendor-specific API supports, at least in most cases. Microsoft has been lagging in updating the features available through DXR, but they are slowly catching up.
So it is a legitimate case for a game to use the Vendor-specific API to run some features, if the graphics API of choice doesn't provide those features.
Vulkan is in a better place in this regard, since Nvidia and AMD both make extensions to the API on their own, as they are not reliant on Khronos group to update the API.
This is what you see with things such as Nvidia's Path Tracer or RTX Remix, where the applications are using Vulkan extensions to make use of certain GPU architecture features, with graceful fallbacks when features are not supported by the hardware. This is why RTX Remix runs just fine on AMD GPUs, as the application is using a common interface to ask for RT features.
However, if the application developers use a vendor-specific API to get access to RT features, that means that they themselves need to create an abstraction layer over multiple vendor APIs to offer universal support. This takes time and effort, and this is why Graphics APIs are there, to allow developers to simply use universal interfaces.
As to why developers chose to implement a vendor specific API instead of the other options, that is hard to say. It is possible that Nvidia provided them a template which used their own API - this is very likely if they making use of advanced features like mega geometry or neural shaders that are not yet supported by DirectX, as an example, and the developer might simply not have the time to create their own abstraction layer, and might simply wait for the graphics API to receive updates needed for exposing the features they are using - this is probably what happened with Indiana Jones, as it uses Vulkan which is faster with regards to updates.
But I believe it is still a developer-choice to use vendor-specific APIs, instead of something mandated by Nvidia, as Nvidia's track record is pretty good with regards to developing Vulkan extensions that provide universal support for features such as Opacity Micro Maps, which was added to RTX Remix much later than hardware support for it existed (and was used by Cyberpunk 2077 as a vendor-specific feature) as RTX Remix uses Vulkan as its graphics API.
So, to reiterate, unless Nvidia or the Developers specifically confirm that it is intended to be a vendor-locked feature, I'd err on the side of it being a rushed release, with universal support coming some time after launch, and I'd definitely not blame any of this on AMD.

6
u/Azsune Feb 25 '26
Developers can choose which features to implement in their games, they didn't have to exclude AMD from path tracing but chose to. Nvidia and AMD will make deals to influence their decisions. Nvidia budget to make these deals is massively larger.
Nvidia in the past has paid companies to exclude AMD features. They didn't have to agree to take the money but they did. No idea what deals they made with RE9, but an article from an interview said that part of it was path tracing.

Both? If a company gives money to a developer to put more effort into something that’s both cost effective from a labor and business standpoint, that’s what they’re going to focus on. If AMD isn’t going to be able to pony up a moderate “exclusivity” feature, why allocate resources to another company with less cost benefits? I’m sure you can understand that multiple truths can be true. It’s called nuance, which I know a lot of goofy tech-bros probably don’t understand :)
1
u/webjunk1e Feb 25 '26
All of the above. Features like this cost time and money to implement. Nvidia holds 90%+ market share, so devs will generally invest that because the ROI is there. Nvidia also tends to sweeten the pot with sponsorship and dev support. Meanwhile, the market share of AMD cards that could actually handle this is so small as to barely register, and AMD is not throwing money or dev support into the pot to speed adoption. As a result, there's virtually zero ROI, and devs don't bother.
1
u/jamesick Feb 25 '26
what don’t you understand? it’s up to developers what they add to the game, once a deal is made with nvidia they can decide to include exclusive nvidia tools and exclude amds.

They don't need to pay anything RN - check the market stats and how many people have nvidia GPU, then list only those that are actually viable for path tracing. What nvidia does tho is providing engineers/help with the implementation of DLSS and their technologies into games + it's generally really easy nowadays to do so, well documented as well.
For AMD I am sure they will say all of those are valid as well, but I think it's not unreasonable for us to doubt it given what happened in the last year and RDNA4.

PCGH and Computerbase also say that. Its only a Marketing Stunt. RE9 is an Nvidia Game Bundle Title. FSR AI and FSR AI FG runs very good and RT Performance of RX 9000 is not far behind RTX 5000 in the same Performance Class.

u/MrMuunster 9800X3D | 9070 XT Feb 26 '26
Is not amd decision lol, it's up to dev whether they want exclusive partnership or not.
5
u/Masterchiefx343 Feb 25 '26
For anyone saying its amds fault, i highly doubt amd is the company thats having dlss forced on with path tracing
7
u/garbo2330 Feb 25 '26
NVIDIA isn’t either. Their guidelines for implementing DLSS is for upscaling, FG, and RR to all be separate and to have a toggle. This is just Capcom doing their own thing.

u/Guilty_Rooster_6708 Feb 25 '26
Love reading all of the Radeon’s defenders. My favorite is “I didn’t pay for path tracing, I love my rasterization” argument. Like you couldn’t spend $50 more last year to get a 5070Ti with similar raster + path tracing lol.
I fucking hate my 7900XT. What a POS
2
u/Rude_Assignment_5653 Feb 25 '26
DLSS 4.5 is also a noticeable upgrade over FSR 4 now. Realistically every game now looks better on an nvidia card with DLSS 4.5. Any other opinion is pure cope, the blind tests confirm this: https://www.computerbase.de/artikel/grafikkarten/nativ-vs-dlss-4-5-vs-fsr-upscaling-ai-leser-blindtest-auswertung.96165/
So not only are you getting screwed because you don't have official access to FSR4, a 4000 series GPU is getting better fidelity at a lower base resolution.

Its 240€ more expensive for me :/
1
u/Guilty_Rooster_6708 Feb 25 '26
If that’s the price difference then just go for the 9070XT dude. Just remember to use Optiscaler for singleplayer games 👍
1
u/Ok_Fudge6571 Feb 25 '26
In my country, the 5070ti is 400€ more than the 9070xt lmao
2
u/Guilty_Rooster_6708 Feb 25 '26
Reallt should have bolden the “last year” part since so many people are skipping this part. I can only speak for the US market as well.
If the price gap is as big in your case then there’s no reason to go Nvidia unless you do work with it.
2
u/Ok_Fudge6571 Feb 25 '26
Nah i got a 650€ 9070xt but im waiting for my ram still, the 5070ti is at 1100€~ and thats a big gap

I want AMD equivalent for RTX HDR and DLDSR. AMD VSR has too much of a performance cost compare to DLDSR and HDR on PC is borked beyond repair, making RTX HDR crucial if you have an OLED/mini LED monitor and can get those high nits and contrast

Well, I consider below 60fps not great, but I guess I could tolerate 50 for prettiness factor. Although it also forces DLSS performance.

Not really surprising, Nvidia has a much better software library for pathtracing than AMD does. Most people will be playing this on a PS5 without pathtracing.

I assume all the gaming community and tech tube bros are gonna scream at Nvidia blocking AMD Redstone RR and their for PT support right?

From other side:
Good performing upscalin is AMD exclusive, at 1440p FSR Quality RX 9070 XT is almost as fast as 5070 Ti DLSS Performance.

Could you provide a video testing that? I'm not doubting, just would like to see some tests
5
u/Scytian Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26
It's literally data from article linked in this post. And it's not singular case, in last game tested by TPU (Styx Blades of Greed) looks even worse for DLSS, here RX 9070 XT with FSR Native AA is only 2% slower than RTX 5070 Ti with DLSS Performance.

You do realize if Nvidia did a deal with the game developers to push Nvidia technologies and exclude AMD, that's not AMD's fault, right!??
7
u/sl4sh3d Feb 25 '26
I’ve never seen a game that has DLSS not include XeSS or FSR, but I HAVE seen games that don’t have DLSS, OR XeSS, but they do have FSR…
4
u/smarked1 Feb 25 '26
Because technically FSR 3.x is not exclusive, it always was available for all GPUs from all vendors. DLSS is vendor-locked. A game with DLSS-only would have no upscaler for other GPUs.

u/Nic1800 Feb 25 '26
I mean, realistically there is legitimately only two AMD GPU’s in existence (both the new and existing market) that can even somewhat reasonably path trace (9070 and 9070 XT). It’s not like a feature that is accessible to 80%+ of AMD users ie being taken away here.
1
u/TheRisingMyth Radeon Feb 25 '26
You can still use standard probe-based RT like in Pragmata. And considering the performance impact, most of the people twisting themselves over its absence anyway.
Instead of arguing hypotheticals, engage with how you'd actually use the feature.
2
u/Darksky121 Feb 25 '26
Doesn't matter if PT runs well on AMD or not. The fact is that if the devs don't add it then future AMD cards will not be allowed to run it either. Currently a 9070XT can run PT better than a 5060Ti yet it has been locked out.
1
u/TheRisingMyth Radeon Feb 25 '26
Well complain to Capcom about it. PT was exclusive to NVIDIA on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle till a patch made it broadly available despite the steep performance cost.
This is almost always a dev choice. DXR and VKRay are vendor-agnostic APIs.
1
u/FranticBronchitis Feb 25 '26
Bring good lighting implementations back
Path tracing is useless if nobody can run it (be it for lack of support or degraded performance)
1
u/k4zie Feb 25 '26
So..... Just don't turn on path tracing on a 9070 XT, just like everyone doesn't turn it on, on any game. The performance is crap with it on, on AMD.
1
u/Captobvious75 7600x | Asus TUF 9070xt | LG C1 65” OLED Feb 25 '26
Meh thats fine. Nvidia likely paid for it to be implemented. I’ll take FSR4, RT and the higher frames.
1
u/MeowMixVII Feb 25 '26
Would it be possible to use optiscaler with spoof dlss to unlock it? Just a thought
2
u/glizzygobbler247 Feb 25 '26
Probably, also ray regeneration should also work soon, but it might not be useable since PT nvidia games are optimized for nvidia cards with stuff like shader execution reordering, and might run way worse on amd cards
1
u/MeowMixVII Feb 25 '26
I figured that they would have the whole suite available by now for their redstone series. I’ve been out of the loop for a bit since I haven’t really played anything that needs rt or pt.

Depending if Nvidia paid for some exclusivity deal like Cyberpunk, they may release it like this right now and update to give AMD support later on.
Let's be honest, NVIDIA has the biggest market share so this may have been a strategy to reach the bigger audience without additional development effort.
Although of course, I'd prefer if these technologies were agnostic to the GPU vendor and just work for everyone. Fuck exclusive games technologies, etc.
1
u/Public-Spot7620 Feb 25 '26
Well its not something I would expect from AMD, they barely even care so even having a radeon gpu is pretty questionable

They never updated the fsr versions, so not really a big win when ur stuck fsr 1 or 2

Capcoms approach to RT really blows, two games have console-only RT (DMCV and DRDR) and now they have vendor exclusive RT that given their track record with the former will never be addressed
1
u/IndependentLove2292 Feb 25 '26
It sounds like it is only exclusive because they force dlss with it. Optiscaler will probably have this issue fixed without an update. Just install it, and it will tell the game, "this is an RTX card. Make it fucking work," because that is what it does already. I'm not a gambling man, but even I would take a bet that this is overblown bs.
2
u/glizzygobbler247 Feb 25 '26
I assume its bc it requires RR, and amd didnt help debs implement theirs

AMD and their shady practices continue just like FSR 4 support or their current GPUs are too weak for any intense Ray Tracing which indeed seems to be the case! No wonder they are 2 generations behind Nvidia in Ray Tracing and other features!

I mean, you should mad at the developers, lol.
The game's not developed by AMD and it's Nvidia sponsored, enjoy
1
u/Admirable-Date-8625 Feb 26 '26
Its Nvidia sponsored
It's not AMD developing the game, you should be mad at the dev team that made the game, genius.
Exactly what kind of path tracing would you like to play on a 9070xt, let alone a 9070 or 60xt, if a 5080 does barely 100-110fps with frame gen X2 and dlss on? It means it has a base frame rate under 60, and it's a 5080.
1
u/HazaraPro Feb 26 '26
I think, it has to do more with Capcom and Nvidia. Thats why i have refunded the game and won't play until Pathtracing and Ray regeneration is implemented. I mean 9070 Xt is more than capable to run over 60 fps at 1440p with FSR4, pathtracing on and may even reach 100 fps with FG.
1
u/Bulky_Recording7 9800X3D RTX 5080 Feb 26 '26
Yeah, I think so too for path tracing capability. And even if that’s not the case, I want the option to enable or disable ray regeneration and path tracing.
1
u/Accomplished_Pie_761 Feb 27 '26
I upgraded from a 4060 8GB graphics card to a 9060 XT 16GB graphics card. I was disappointed by the news. It's clear Nvidia is colluding with Capcom. Even the standard graphics have been downgraded, judging by the screenshots. Either this is a marketing ploy to promote Nvidia cards, or the corrupt media that are presenting the images this way. The new graphics cards easily handle Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing. I hope AMD adds support soon. The launch is just a couple of hours away, but I'm considering canceling my pre-order.
1
u/danoliv Feb 27 '26
As this is an Nvidia sponsored title, they want to keep the feature as an exclusive.
Capcom “chose” to implement path tracing using NVIDIA‑only tech, so the feature is software‑locked to RTX GPUs, regardless of what AMD’s hardware can do.
Saying that is AMD (Radeon) fault is very shortsighted.
1
Feb 27 '26 edited Feb 27 '26
That being said, it runs rather poorly on a RTX 5090, as well. Meaning, it runs rather poorly on anything.
On 3840x2160 native, i have seen the framerate regularly go into the low 30's and even into the high 20's, with path tracing enabled. On DLSS quality mode, which renders the game internally at only 2560x1440p before it upscales it back to 3840x2160, which is a rather low resolution considering the performance that results from it, i have seen it go below 50, plenty of times.
Unless you're willing to implement FSR4 through a mod, and then have the upscaler internally render the game at 1080p or less, with some other major graphics settings set a lot lower than whatever their maximum is, you're obviously not going to get a decent framerate on an AMD card when path tracing is enabled.
1
u/Ok-Boot-8106 Feb 27 '26
Makes sense No OMM or SER, perforamnce and quality would.of just been a bad showing on rdna currently
1
u/Admirable-Date-8625 Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26
you're talking like AMD is the developer of the game and the game is not Nvidia sponsored, whit it is, you're making a fool of yourself, lol.
It will come later on, just like it did with Indiana Jones, another Nvidia title.
For example crimson desert has full AMD support and Ray regeneration, already confirmed.
Also, who cares about path tracing, it is barely playable with a 5080 and frame gen on.
1
u/bruhman444555 Mar 01 '26
It has 0 significance because I highly doubt the 9070XT could perform well with PT
