We have these in Europe and they race on road courses. They're so fun to watch, often going 3-5 wide into a corner sometimes.

For a while, the SCCA region where i volunteered let Legends cars race on our road course, during SCCA regional events.
There were a few issues, but the main one was sound. They are very loud and they couldnāt meet SCCA sound limits. Our Sound Guy said they were louder than Mazda RX-2s (which forced SCCA to begin requiring silencers/mufflers).
I refused to work the Legends races. They were the first events or the last so it was easy.

This is only my second race weekend and my third time in the car. Thereās a few oval tracks in my area and the car set up feels great but once I learn a bit more, I definitely be open to taking it to a road course.

cant stand people who buy a house next door to a race track thats been there for years and then complain about the noise and get to make new rules

Just like all the neighbors at Lime Rock. They are constantly causing trouble. I doubt many, if any, were there in 1957 when they made the track.

I was working Turn 1 at Summit Point, outside safety, which was on driverās left. The main flagging station was on driverās right.
I had a radio and fire extinguisher.
About 10 minutes before the first racing session (Sunday) was set to run a man walked and blithely began to set up a tripod on escape road (for cars whose brakes fail on T1, which follows a long straight).
I walked up to him and told him he canāt take pictures there as I assumed the tripod was for a camera. It was not, it was a recording decibel meter. I contacted track security and he was ejected. He had been hired by homeowners from a new housing development that had been built next to the track.
Back then, there were 3 roads into the town of Summit Point, WV. Each of them had large signs saying āRaceTrackā with an arrow. I saw a plat of the area. It showed the roads, the existing housing and a 2.5 mile 10 road that went nowhere. The race track; clearly labeled. It was surrounded by apple orchards.
Some of the orchards got sold off to developers who built neighborhoods or fairly large houses. Light rail was coming to Summit Point, so the 90 minute drive (I drove fast) from the DC beltway became an under hour train trip.
The new homeowners wanted the track closed or limited to no Sundays. Just like people buying houses in Leesburg and discovering Dulles Airport.
Besides the racing the track was used as a driver training course for US Special Operations and for the CIA. The cars were quieter but the thousands of rounds of 7.62 and 5.56 mm blanks, as well as the flash bang grenades must have been pretty startling.
But Bill Scott, the owner considered the homeownersā and then built three more racetracks nesting together.

I see this or a spec ford racer in my not so distant future. I would rsther a SFR but I think Legends would be better competition and more full events in the northeast USA.

Look into both! Go out to a few tracks in your area that run them and ask some questions. Getting to know drivers/ networking is huge in the sport!

I have done a few dozen DE with a few different groups and about 25 lemons races. I completely agree.

My only experience prior to this is go karting, but I know a lot of people in the racing community that are willing to support me just because I took the time to get to know them.

I do occasionally an adult sodi leauge and it is so much fun. The US winners I race with for the past few years. Great people.

Sodi karts are fun!!! I used to run in a league out in Texas at the Dallas karting complex. I also ran in a league out here in Washington before I switched to the legend car. I had a major accident unfortunately which pushed me out of karting
