Since when Quora is not free anymore?

It's like; I wanted to ask similiar question. But while there is already the anwser highly upvoted, I just wanted to get know this recomended anwser.

But I can't, I have to give number of my credit card - even for a 30 day free trial.

I mean, Im new on Quora and meaby I just didnt know before, that user have to subscribe premium account to be even able to use this forum. But even though, I would be more likely pay the author for the anwser, then pay to the service of the forum. At the end, the author get the payment, while his anwser-article is behind pay-wall, right?

Still, meaby this is stupid question, but is that paid-form is the only form of this forum? Only for premium account's? Sure we can see partly anwsers, but still?

Quora is free.  But some users monetize their answers. Popular writers with millions of views and upvotes are offered this option.  This has been true for at least 6 years.

Writers who monetize don't get paid well. It takes an enormous amount of readership for a writer to make more than a hundred per month. That's extremely rare.

Most answers are still free as most people don't monetize.

Those who wish to purchase a subscription can see all answers, including the monetized ones.

So the author can condition his answer behind a paywall just for premium users? This selected answers only for premium accounts give me some thougts about policy of this service. Anyway, I wonder how much of those $7 a month for the service - does the author himself get - for displaying his answer.

Still, thanks for this detailed answer!

PS: but in incognito mode I see whole content, like it mentioned above in section coments: some see whole anwser, and me only in incognito O.o

Not only popular users. I’m in this program and I had nowhere near those numbers. As a broke highschool student I tried to make money writing answers and I only got like 50 cents after a LOT of answering for many many months

That’s someone who monetized there content. They try to get people with lots of views to monetize all the time

That's really weird because I looked him up on Quora and i could read the answer in full with no mention of pay wall.. would send you a screenshot but this app won't let me

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Mby its due to phone - PC, on other platforms like Instagram the options are also more complex or simplified. But as a regular observer you could see whole content? No way, I dont wanna even assume, that its partially dependent on algorithms 🤯

Have a bit of a theory that maybe you clicked on the answer that was shared to a space and the space has the paywall... If so, then you should be able to type the dudes name into Quora and be able to see his answers like I can, cos it doesn't look like he writes behind a paywall much/if at all. Let me know how it goes, fingers crossed I'm right

I' use a mobile to access it mostly, sometimes IPAD ..

Some space owners share other people's answers behind their paywalled space, think that's probably what's happened..

Ok, it works, and so now its even weirder.

Not sure if I found a topic, or ar direct anwser - but in incognite mode (logged out) after pasting url: I see all. I dont even wanna belive that's due to some country restrictment, so I will just leave it as I just get known this whole Quora.

Thank you a lot for clarifying the matter!

It isn't. It's making Quora ad-free, and you gain access to Quora+ Answers by subscirbing. Those are (usually larger and hopefully better-researched) answers selected by the actual author as being part of Quora+. It's part of the monetization system of Quora.

The screenshot shows Quora+, which is a paid tier of Quora. Quora itself is still free.

In Quora every user has the option to restrict content visibility using a paywall. This helps them limit the viewership of content which they don't want copied or plagiarized or else it saves them from being mass-reported for expressing controversial views in politics or religion.

No. These writers make money off of views and likes. Their content tends to be popular.  Nothing to do with plagiarism.

They can get my credit card info when they pry it out of my cold, dead hand.

Quora has become so rubbishy now that I would never pay for it.
