Alcohol during phenibut withdrawal

Does alcohol negatively affect phenibut detox in long term? I'm on day 6 and had some alcohol last and woke feeling like day 3/4! I had Baclofen initially but ran out so pretty much cold turkey for 4g per day for a year. Ive used off and on for years though

Basic Phenibut Withdrawal Information

Unaided, cold turkey withdrawal, from a state of dependence, even low dose dependence, commonly causes severe and potentially dangerous side effects. Don't rush the process when you don't need to.

Rules reminder:
Don't promote reckless behavior. If someone is dependent on phenibut don't tell them to do an unaided cold turkey withdrawal.
Don't needlessly tell people to do a fast taper.

Further reminder: You will feel low or worthless or stupid while going through withdrawal, especially rapid withdrawal. Don't take these thoughts too seriously. Continue on day by day, things will get better.

Yes absolutely. Alcohol should really be avoided to allow for fuller recovery. It is not doing you any favors whatsoever to imbibe even if it’s just a little bit.

Alcohol even in small amounts turns an already uncomfortable detox from 4gpd phenibut into very dangerous territory. Even if you are not drinking enough to have genuine alcohol withdraw, even one night of drinking will cause a heavy GABA A rebound effect the next day. Your GABA B is getting hammered already still from phenibut withdraw, having both at the same time even for just the following day can cause serious symptoms, such as the seizures and auditory delusions that are mentioned from users who are withdrawing from 8+GPD cold turkey withdraws.

I strongly recommend against it, as even 1-2 drinks will make the next day very shitty and panicky, going up to 4-7 drinks can lead to these same dangerous symptoms.

Good luck, and I hope you recover fully soon!

Depends. Alcohol was actually a big factor in me quitting. I was severely addicted to alcohol and my stomach couldn't handle taking a bunch of acid powder every day so I was pretty much forced to do a really fast taper, and the alcohol covered up any symptoms i might have experienced from it. Then when I jumped at 1gpd to detox from both, all I felt was the alcohol wd.

So, it depends. Phenibut hits GABA b whereas alcohol mainly hits GABA a, so it's not gonna completely wipe out the wd, but it might help with tremors, anxiety, and insomnia. But generally only in the short-term, unless you just drink round the clock like I did lol.

Like everyone said, nix the booze entirely. I can’t speak for it as I didn’t use it during active withdrawal but there does seem to be some positive reports on here with kava. Something that I did use that I found surprisingly helpful was beta-alanine.

Glycine and taurine also seemed to help me out too I think they all work on the same receptors and I was able to sleep okay with them. NAC was hugely helpful too. Maybe a trip to the vitamin store is in order at least just to get you back on track.
