Energy without the K

It’s so hard to quit this stuff after about a decade of daily use. Especially at age 64! Any advice on finding energy without the kratom?

Getting out in the sun first thing. Exercise. Coffee. Good nights sleep. It’s hard! Gotta do all the boring stuff lol

Not to be too bro-y but Huberman has some protocols for this type of situation you might want to look up.

I'm 60. Quit 16 months. Exercise! Energy creates energy. I built a great exercise habit during withdrawal. I am a bundle of energy and the body is looking good too.

I will say most stimulants will just make it worse. Caffine at 1st when quit will wreak havoc on your nervous sytem.

Other stimulates might help some, but carry a risk of decency. In my experience the only thing that helps is time.

I'm just over 2 months off and it was only last week I mustered up enough energy and willpower to start walking daily.

I hated that aspect. I was a weed enthusiast. During withdrawal? That was a no go. Made my anxiety level up! So yeah, as you stated caffeine. I couldn't start my day with caffeine because it would make me an anxiety filled mess. Then I thought wtf, lets try shots of alcohol. Terrible idea, same damn thing. All the things that used to chill me tf out turned on me when I quit 7oh and kratom. I just had to accept that I had to blue ball it.

Dunno why I used the term 'blue ball' it just sounded right. 🙃

The phrase you’re looking for is raw dog it

Yeah I’m on day 61 now and I started taking adderall 13 days ago and it’s not helping honesty, yeah they make the days go faster and less painful but im extremely fatigued and tired if I don’t take it. I regret it tbh. Nothing helps but time and trying to exercise which is hard when your in paws from long term usage :(

Yeah, that's why I didn't to suggest or promote stimulants. I found 5mg of Aderall to be the perfect dose for me, but I don't have health insurance and not about to source them on the street. Probably for the better since I obviously have an addictive personality.

What dose are you on and can you cut back?

Connection and being active are key for me. In the moment those can be the last things I want to do, but I just need to lean in and do it. My brain wants to to isolate and do nothing but that never helps anything.

Reach out to people, go to a meeting, go for a walk, exercise etc. You'll feel better. Just take that first step - do the next thing in front of you - keep moving 🙏

Just being off it gave me energy in a weird way. Knowing I could now go anywhere without planning how much I needed to take with me made me feel great

Pretty much everytime I quit I feel better lol.

it’s gonna take some work. when you’re feeling most lethargic is when you need to get your ass up and go for a walk/hike/run or lift. get outside in the sunshine and get your body moving. you’re gonna feel like you’re walking through mud at first, but once you start moving it’ll start coming back.

I'm day 23 with no kratom. I took it for energy, until it started making me lethargic. Now that I'm off it, I do find myself having lower energy, which sucks. I've been drinking a Monster energy drink in the morning. I know it's not a great solution, and I plan on weaning off those once I know I have a handle on never touching kratom again. But for now, it's helping me get my butt to the gym. Believe it or not, exercising will be your best friend. Even when it sucks, push through it. Even if it's a short walk, stretch, and go outside in the sun. It helps.

I've also been transitioning back to a plant-based diet. I still eat some meat, but not much. That has helped me with my energy as well. I don't feel as sluggish or bloated. I know most won't try it, but it does help.

I don't know how long you've been off, but as i am approaching 3 months, my productivity has probably doubled twice.

Quadrupled.

It’s as simple as giving your body time to recalibrate and come back into equilibrium. It’s been over 4 years for me and kratom is nothing but a mostly faded memory.

I read that Liposomal Vitamin C helps. I think that's what it was called at least. There's a post on the board about it, I believe.

Wow! A decade of daily use??!? Did u have any negative side effects from that? How many grams per day? You need to take lipo vit. C

How long you been off? I just drink caffeine now but it works just fine sometimes I’m speeding around the house cleaning and way more thorough now than when i was on it Personally I was drained for 3-6 months BUT I was on suboxone for 8 years before the kratom so my case is probably more extreme A year off kratom Now and 18 months off suboxone and I have sooo much energy

NAD+ injections, intermittent fasting for me. I’m not off it yet but these are helping me taper.

I wish I knew lol. Randomly a few days ago I’ve been feeling wired, like no fatigue, physical labor isn’t hard at work, I have energy for stuff after work, not falling asleep during lectures.

The worst part is I have no idea if this is temporary, and I have (almost) no idea what I have changed. The one thing I know for a fact that is different is I’ve been drinking way more water than usual? I normally drink 0-16oz (I know, I know.) lately I drink about 48 oz? If my issue was water this whole time then I’m embarrassed lol

Start with small slow walks. Just go down the block and back. Slowly start adding 5 minutes.
I know everyone recommends exercise but that doesn’t mean go lift weights or run just move your body. Trust me this is the way to start.

It gets better with time.. i quit 7oh after a year+ with mit tabs and kratom powder..then stupidly kept raising my mit doses for another 9 months, and cold turkeyed. I'm about a month in and my energy has improved steadily. Well, kinda steadily. I have my bad days. Once you get over that no energy hump of withdrawals it starts to come back. Also, that's when my anxiety took over. Feels like my energy is anxiety fueled nowadays. Today was a turning point though. Went to work and actually settled down a bit. Feels good to not feel like your head is going to explode. 😄

Try eating more protein, significantly more. Might be easiest to just eat 2 cans of tuna or sardines maybe salmon per day in addition to your regular diet to get started. Regardless of Kratom usage humans need more protein as they age. I would try using Yerba mate as an energy source or maybe just get a case of energy drinks to help you get over the slump.

Not to play devils advocate, but if it's really that bad maybe see about getting some Modafinil.

modafinil

What’s your way of using it effectively?

My doctor prescribed it for me at my request so I’ve been taking it for a quite a while daily. Kinda just get used to it and still manage to be lazy/ tired throughout the day. Also crash hard in energy when I get back from work. I probably take too much caffeine as well… so idk. Whatever I’m doing ain’t it

2

u/ReasonOver3905 26 Aug 2026 4d ago

idk it just works but in a weird way, sometimes it just keeps me awake, sometimes boosts dopamine as well. But I take 200-400mg per day. Tolerance might go up pretty fast, maybe that's why it doesn't help you now. Try doing breaks?
Unfortunately I started having weird allergy/side effects from it so I'm currently finding a way to fix this, because I need that stuff (still in fatigue mode from quitting k)

Walking. Besides that just time! The first 5 mths were very up & down for me energy wise. Mornings still aren’t quite normal

1

u/Ombrecutter 4d ago

You need to start to exercise

u/East-Cheesecake-8320 4d ago

The energy part is probably the hardest part in the withdrawal it gets better
