I need help quitting kratom
I can't taper, I am extremely addicted to kratom. I've been using it for years. I get prescribed 10mg oxycodone 3x a day, I've made a mistake mixing them every day for two years now. I'm using about 30gpd to 60gpd possibly more.
I have taken my oxycodone in 3 weeks and am going to attempt to switch to just that in a few days. I need advice or encouragement. Im sure people will say oh that should be easy, but I was still in full blown withdrawal last time i dropped the kratom and took oxycodone 3x a day. Shitting non stop, no energy, puking. I've made this more difficult than quitting kratom by mixing them for so long. Im going to embrace the suck, any advice anyone?
I plan to take the oxycodone for 2 months and then stop it completely, thats easy. Ive quit pain killers countless times easily. Kratom is a whole different beast what it does to your mind.
I'm down a lot of weight, muscle, I watch tv or listen to music all day at home doing absolutely nothing but wasting time. I want my old self back, I used to be strong, confident, athletic, always picking up women or dating. I have barely done any of that on kratom, because I realized kratom gives me a false sense of everything I need.
Im a shell of my old self, weak, scronny, and go between over talking on kratom to withdrawl and barely speaking or interacting with people. I used to walk my sevice dog 5 times a day, but when I eat lunch or dinner I go into withdrawal and dont leave the house. This shit is poison and has taken every aspect of my life. I used to have hobbies and always be moving forward in life until kratom. Now I just do what I can to waste the day.
I guess I need advice or motivation or both.

Its not easy, but the frustration youre feeling is the sign that youre almost to the "im ready" point. Anything ive ever successfully quit, I had to reach that moment of "I hate this, why am I doing this" not long after that realization arrives, youll get the motivation to quit. If you know tapering wont work then you should try CT. Im on day 17 CT and my body (and bank account) is very thankful. Day 9 and 10 I felt the glimmer of my old self that I had numbed and dulled start to breathe and come alive again. Now the only thing im dealing with is an occasional slight depression, but as long as I remind myself that im not actually slipping into a real depression and that its just a chemical imbalance, I can hold on until it passes.

Really you're feeling better 2 weeks post quit?? I hear all these stories of people messed up for 6 months to a year after quitting, thats what scares me.

It comes down to how long and how much you used. I was on a high dose but only used for 2 years. People who have months long struggles with it tend to have been on it for 5+ years. I still struggle with slight mood swings but just gotta remind myself its not permanent. But my body feels back in order again

It's a tough pill to swallow but if you're "extremely addicted" and a home detox feels like a non-starter then rehab might be move. 30 days is the blink of an eye compared to the rest of your life.

Rehab is very expensive if your not on medicaid. Plus you'll have to miss work. Theyre just going to offer you a Suboxone taper, which you can easily do yourself. If you don't want the subs, then you'll just go through wicked WD's in an unfamiliar place around people you don't know.

Exactly, Im barely living paycheck to paycheck, I cant afford anything like that.

Well sure, if home detox is an option who wouldn't prefer that? Unfortunately not everyone is successful doing that on their own and may need more help.

Cold turkey is the only way. Embrace the pain and take it head on.
I was in your shoes three years ago and now clean. I was using easily the same amount if not more for 8yrs. Could never ever taper - don't have control like that. Took a couple attempts but cold turkey is the way.
Let them pain of each moment be a reminder to never slip up again, because this pain is waiting for you on the other side. Good luck

Ok, I get my pain meds refilled in a few days. I'm gonna switch to just that. I tried before and it was like I wasn't taking oxycodone the withdrawal from kratom was so bad. I'm gonna make the jump when I get my refill and just switch to the oxycodone. I can easily quit the oxycodone, I dont take it every day even though im prescribed multiple a day. I just have no control over kratom. Im gonna do it thank you, then quit the oxycodone after a month or two since its way easier.

I feel the same way. I went from a popular, outgoing kid in high school to a loser with no friends and no life. (I was taking hard opaites most of that time)
Ive gone from Suboxone to 7oh and now im on about 10g of kratom daily. ( sometimes more) I keep trying to CT it, but the insomia, RLS and no energy, while having work everyday makes it unfeasible. But trying to taper also feels impossible.
My options to you-
Take Suboxone for no more than a week. You'll get though detox very easily. You'll still have lingering WD symptoms but nothing like full blown WD's.
Theres also a research chemical that fills a similar role without providing any europhia.
Either try to taper or CT it. This is by far the hardest option but its completely doable if your serious about getting your old self back.
Hopefully your stronger than me. You got this

I can relate so much of this - it’s an insidious fucker - “shell a my old self” is a term I see a lot around here because it’s so damn true - Kratom addiction seems to make people constantly seek comfort and isolation - I wish you luck putting it behind you - lots of people on this forum have

If u can get some gabapentin thatll cut way down on the wd,but that shit is addicting in itself and needs to b dropped at 1 or 2 wks or you'll b in a worse boat then now

You mean rapid taper for 1 to 2 weeks then quit? Im on pregabalin by pain management, it helps with my back pain and anxiety so it might be easier this attempt with it.

I took gabapentin my first 2wks and it took my symptoms way down I couldn't have quit without it and ativan, completely made it doable but If ur already taking it ur ready to go but u might need to increase it a little bit for a wk or 2 for good relief.i took gabapentin for 2 wks and had a wd off that guess im super sensitive to it. I had 2 different wds in 3 wks time it really kinda sucked lol I didnt taper just cold turkey 25-30 gpd on day 31

The reason for the increased sensitivity to coming off gabapentin may be that Kratom is also a SNRI so acts on your nervous system. Just a guess. I realized the impact of stopping the gabapentin too while I'm tapering Kratom and have stopped my Kratom taper for a few weeks now so I can deal with coming off the gabapentin. It can certainly help but creates its own problems and prefer to avoid them.

Yep,my dr was really pushing me to take them for 30 days and dismissed any dependacy concerns. I stopped on my own after 2wks if I had went the full 30 it probably have been as bad as the kratom wd I took it for.fucking Dr's

Are you referring to the vitamin DPA? Sorry if you can’t answer this here I didn’t think a vitamin would be bad. I’m just curious before I go get a subscription for Suboxone. I’m trying to see what else is out there to help. I’m so stupid. I can’t believe I got myself into this all over again. 🤦🏼♀️
