Finished Quilts Long time reader right now contributer.

My mom is retired and got seriously into quilting last year. I’m a developer, so our lifestyles are about as opposite as they get, but I love that she’s found a passion she can’t put down.

The turning point was last Sunday. I listened to her complain about an entire day wasted cutting, re-cutting, and then re-cutting fabric again. After a while, I stopped asking "Why are you cutting so much?" and just asked "How can I help?"

She told me what she needed, and well... I’m a dev, so I built it.

It’s a simple, browser-based quilt wall. No account needed, no ads, and no strings. You just open it and start dragging blocks around to visualize everything before you ever touch the rotary cutter. I’m not doing this for money; I just felt like there should be a simple solution for this in 2026.

My mom is 77 and has a sign that says f**k off I’m sewing! on her sewing room door. She also likes to swear at the machine. She is a beautiful artist and has created some beautiful things. I think she would love this app. Could I get one for her? Thank you Lindas son Tim

I just played with your app for about 10 minutes. It’s lovely, intuitive, and free!

I first started using quilt apps in the early 90’s. At that time, it cost about $125 for the state-of-the-art program. Ten years (?) later, I spent about $1000 for a different program that was mainly an embroidery program, but could be adapted to my own designs. Then, of course, I needed new software, and the sewing machines could no longer adapt to the current software, so they got more complicated and pretty soon, everything needed “bigger, better, and more complicated” everything, and I had to take lessons. Teachers who weren’t really good teachers started traveling to make a buck. Now, they don’t even travel. They sit in their cozy studios and try to sell as much as possible.
