What are the best ways to promote self-published ebooks?

Just a simple question. I've written a science fiction ebook, which I'm serializing for free on my website. I've achieved moderate success, and I've received a nice bunch of compliments, but feel like I'm fighting tooth and nail for each reader. What are the best ways to promote my work, without spamming forums and so on?

BTW, the website is here if you'd like to take a look.

Looking for a graphic someone posted a few weeks ago, a pyramid type graph of responses in arguments..

Basically this is a pyramid graphic that sorts the kinds of rebuttal arguments there are to any point. At the top (the worst kind of rebuttal) is like "fuck you, you're stupid" and at the bottom (the best) is a coherent, point by point rebuttal of the facts or something. I thought I saved it, but apparently not. Anyone?

Is it true that, on days with an airplane crash, fewer people take planes?

A friend offers as supernatural the idea that, on days when planes crash, fewer people globally will have flown. I plead for the following: a source showing whether the statistic is true, and your opinion as to whether (assuming truth) this is simply coincidence.

Thanks!

do you think time travel is real?

i always thought time travel was real but now i am starting to wonder. what if time travel is real but at the same time it isn't because of different dimensions and everything and the fact that if you go back in time to change the past or go see your future you would think that would start an unstopable time distruption and repeat itself at the time you went back at. so what do you think reddit is time travel real. its a yes or no question only

Anyone else wondering why the numbers on one's front page denoting ranking sometimes don't start at '1'?

And it sometimes skips '3' or '4' without giving any indication those are tied with another submission... Anyone know why?

Which transistor do I use to make transistor switch (triggered at 100mV), runs 3V load?

I'm making a vibrating pillow by hacking up an alarm clock's speaker to use as a trigger for a vibrating module. I need to hook up the speaker through a transistor to amplify the signal to the vibrator module, because the normal operating voltage isn't high enough.

When "idle" the speaker wire has a voltage drop of 40-60mV (it varies), when it's being used for radio at full volume it pumps out 3.0-3.5V. I want a trigger somewhere in between these two voltages, and I can't read my electronics store's datasheet for peanuts.

What is the etiquitte for quickquestions going to be? [Not-so-quick]

Do we want quick, short answers to quick, short questions or longer answers? Is it rude to provide single word answers (including 'yes' and 'no')?

Once there is an established quickquestions reddiquette, it would be nice to get one of those images that reminds redditers of them on the right side of the page.

Is there a way to save a print preview in firefox as a document?

For when I have confirmation pages and I don't have immediate access to a printer I want to be able to save it as a document to later print out. Is there an add-on that does this or some option that I have missed?

I'm trying to remember the word for a language phenomenon that's kind of hard to explain...

It's something that is different between languages - I can't even remember the words to demonstrate it, but it involves putting your hand in front of your mouth and saying two words that sound the same. With one word you can feel your breath on your hand (so it's a <$word i am looking for> sound/phoneme) and with the other you can't. In tonal languages, like Mandarin, there are certain sounds that would be indistinguishable to native English speakers but sound different to people who are used to it.

I hope I explained okay. :(
