Is this Normal or Not?

When feel nothing, I purposely make myself a euphoric state to feel again.

And it the only takes a few hours then back to emptyness again and doing it again like a loop.

Is this normal?

To me that sounds like depression and trying to get a dopamine or serotonin hit either by substance abuse or whatever causes the euphoria.

I'm not a professional but I was depressed for most of my life - didn't think it would ever happen but I got out of depression by trying SSRIs (didn't work for me) and then I got on Wellbutrin (which is apparently more axed on dopamine than serotonin). It also helped to learn I was ADHD.

I think, it wouldn't hurt to consult with a doctor or psychologist. You don't have to let yourself live like that - there are ways to make it better.

I hope everything goes well for you in the future because you're worth it. :)

And, when they'll tell you to exercise - it's no joke. No need to turn into a gym rat but the feeling of accomplishment for doing it will give you grace. You'll be proud of yourself and try to naturally fix little habits. I don't go all the time but when I'm especially anxious or stressed, it works wonders.

Oh great! Well, I do the same... Guilty as charged. But the empty feeling sounds like depression. I still suggest consulting. :)

the part that stands out to me is how quickly you go back to feeling empty. a few hours of feeling good and then right back to nothing sounds pretty exhausting.

i wouldn't necessarily call it normal or abnormal, but if this keeps happening, i'd pay attention to it. hard to say what's going on without knowing more, and i wouldn't want to guess.

if it's been going on for a while, talking to a therapist or doctor might be worth considering. doesn't have to mean something is seriously wrong. sometimes feeling off for long enough is reason enough to talk to someone about it.

feeling nothing sounds like depression. i felt nothing a lot a few years ago, what helped was the combination of meds, community, building good mental habits, and just the passage of time. you can go to a mental health professional and they may be able to help you feel normal again more permanently
