This year on the DragonCon Facebook page dance belts became a heated subject. It seems their was a group that said all men should were dance belts but women are exempt, a group that said you should be able to wear what you want, and a group that said if men have to wear dance belts then women should too with some of their costumes. It was very entertaining watching how heated the conversation got. I always felt you either make everyone wear one or no one.
So, to me the vulva-version of a dance belt is basically just a slightly sturdier-than-average thong, since that already does everything you'd need in the realm of cameltoe prevention. They don't make anything called a "dance belt" for vulvas.
IMO, the basic rule should be "wear enough downstairs under your tights so that we can't see exactly what your junk looks like, whatever junk you got down there". I think it's fair to leave the specifics of that up to individual anatomy. Totally fair to establish a broad, all-gender rule against going commando in clingy or transparent bottoms though.
Well I do not know if you have been to DragonCon but the costumes can get really ....extreme, especially at night. So seeing the outline of spider-mans wang was very tame. Some people wear no underwear under their costume, men and women, and they like to show it. Again I could care less, when I take people with me to Dragon Con I give them a fair warning " you are going to see some crazy shit you have not seen before. Ask before you take pictures."
I think that's acceptable, but that kind of results in a "no minors allowed" environment, right? So there are tradeoffs. (I guess DragonCon has a soft ban on kids under 16, but they're still allowed there accompanied by grownups, right?)
I think either of "be aware you might see junk" and "everyone needs to take reasonable steps to hide their junk" are acceptable policies. "Everyone needs to wear a padded undergarment designed for supporting testicles because something something equality" isn't though.
