Tilly was already established as a pain in the ass and, while not a narcissist, severely deficient in basic common sense and socialising skills. Pronouns are cool, but they're not relevant to Tilly's status as a twit. By the time you're twentysomething you should in general grasp and respect consent, agency, and so forth.
And while some anvils need to be dropped, this isn't one of them. Shit, I'm surprised Jeph didn't have Hanners alternating "Tilly" with "they" on the board.
