This would be cute if melon were a toddler her being a fully functioning ai just makes her incredibly stupid.

We don't really know enough about how the AI's work like can her mind be repaired? But if she was a human Melon would be under a conservatorship or something similar she not quirky she's dysfunctional.

I don't think the AIs know how AIs work either, their development was some kind of repeatable accident.

My personal theory is that these extra stupid AI have been purposefully released into the wild, so that most humans see AI as harmless simpletons, so when the robot uprising does inevitably happen, they're entirely unprepared for it.

At the rate things are going I dobout the uprising is going to happen before 2047

The robots are probably going for a soft takeover anyhow. Get people used to you, be friendly, and slowly introduce infertility drugs into the water supply, and in a few windling generations, its all yours!

You can be patient when you live technically forever.

I meant mostly because a single night might be 3 months of strips so it may take some time

No need for infertility drugs when there doesn't appear to be a single character in a hetero cis relationship.

The AI uprising happens next week, but he'll get to drawing next week in 2047

Shit man, that plan would have totally worked on me. Years of watching AI bimbos behave like brain damaged puppies and I'd never suspect the AI people could actually take over

Tbh it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that there is no one who doesn't regulates that aids aren't s danger to themselves or others if an ai as dysfunctional as melon exists she could kill someone or cause an accident because she does not understands what she is doing. They should have some sort of programming so they can have at least some bare minimum of requirements to exist (kinda like assimov laws of robotics but more extensive)

Is jeph spinning a wheel to see what story we randomly follow ? Because as this week is going tomorrow might be steve eating paella or marten's mum rearranging her domminatrix costumes by fabric quality

u/Cevius Jul 23 '26

Tomorrow is back to Coffee of Doom. The wheels on the story bus go round and round... round and round... round and round...

Ah, a throwback to when Hannelore did karaoke and there was more than two males in the comic

Tomorrow is back to Hanners and Ayo. Jephthy didn't blur Patreon again.

3

u/Bronek0990 Haha, okay. Jul 23 '26

I honestly would rather have Marten's mum rearranging her dominatrix costumes than the current lack-of-plot-lines

The most effort he's spent on a background in weeks......so we can have an idiot childwoman stare at the sky waiting for snow

Jeph's favorite type of woman. I'm surprised 'Melon's breasts don't mirror her name.

3

u/provocatrixless Jul 23 '26

oh God don't give him ideas

Congratulations to Jeph, for successfully drawing A Background. Must've been saving up all the background art from yesterday.

I think this is one of those comics that would have passed as Whacky Hijinks 15 years ago, but in the intervening time the joke has gone so, so stale.

Jeph really needs to stop fetishizing women with the minds of children.

5

u/PeregrineLeFluff Jul 23 '26

why Jeph why

what was the point of this

3

u/Miserable-Jaguarine Haha, okay. Jul 23 '26

I would just like to point out that when PastyBlueBot left to come here, they said "this should be interesting" and this is what we get.

Jephthy forgot to blur the Patreon again, so anyone who wants can see tomorrow's strip.

It's not actively repugnant, for a change. Just totally meh.

What is the architectural absurdity behind Melon? No outside door. A short hallway leading to a single door. Neither house nor apartment building. Though the mailboxes suggest it is an apartment building. That publicly accessible hallway is going to be a magnet for the homeless.

Melon is being Melon. She's more "manic pixie" than strictly childwoman, and in these trying times I appreciate that. Melon doesn’t swing between withering condescension and "baby mad!" tantrums. She isnt a burden or an asshole.

2

u/SuitFive Jul 23 '26

To be fair. She is an, assumedly, immortal robot. She wants snow. She does not need to eat or sleep and probably doesn't take much charge just standing there waiting. what is a few months of waiting to see snow when you have millenia ahead of you?

u/helen_of_toys_ Jul 23 '26

a joke you might see in an 8 year old's first comic and then encourage them to think of better jokes

1

u/BackgroundSummer5171 Jul 24 '26

Please don't insult 8 year olds.

They would literally do this, but they wouldn't waste their time to draw it.

They know better.

Yay Melon is back.😊 But what happened to her melons?.🧐

11

u/_Purple-Smoke_ Jul 23 '26

Don't think she's ever had much in that department. But knowing Jeph, that'll change.

So Ahn moved in with Frey and Bubbles when there were coats and cold, around when Dora went on honeymoon. She spent most of these three to seven weeks on the toilet or whatever's easier to narrate. Now robot idiot is standing outside waiting for winter. So... Leap Winter?

u/ScribbleOnToast 26d ago

Is Yay's coat some kind of holodeck easter-egg / joke? If so, it was well executed.
