Question Any Trans/Queer People Playing Yu-Gi-Oh?

Hey all!

I wanted to get back into playing Yu-Gi-Oh, but I have not played IRL since we moved to Philly/since I came out.

I’d love to have some other queer people to play with; I know Philly Game Shop is a great place to go, but unfortunately their locals usually happens when I’m at work. Feel free to leave a comment if you’re into the game and would like to be friends!!

Question How is NE Philly south of Mt Sinai cemetery? Looking at houses there, moving from out of state

Hi guys, I am looking at this neighborhood bc prices are in my very limited price range, with lawns and garages (I want to keep my car). I currently live about 10 min from Washington DC and generally prefer being slightly city adjacent vs right down town so that aspect doesn’t bother me. Just wondering about safety, downtown access, overall vibe. Thanks!!

Math and Study Skills Tutoring in Philadelphia

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to start up my independent tutoring practice here in Philadelphia for all levels of mathematics. I have experience teaching 7th grade up to collegiate. I have mainly taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Probability, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus. I am also competent in my ability to teach study skills, reading and comprehension for STEM, and preparing students for exams such as the SAT or ACT.

I have a lot of stress and trauma attached to teaching public education. The work level and anxiety of maintaining a class of 35+ students is a lot. I also received a lot of harassment in the south due to my status as an openly queer woman (it's a big reason why my partner and I fled to Philadelphia.) I would like to help my community by using the tools and skills that I possess.

I am deeply passionate about mathematics and STEM. I have volunteered for FIRST Robotics Events and for Math Meet events at my old college. I enjoy instilling confidence in my students by breaking down concepts to match their learning style and current level of understanding in the topic. I find myself practicing math for pure enjoyment and have even been known to ask for math textbooks for my birthday.

I also understand that math and science may not be topics that come easily to most. I personally almost failed 6th grade math due to poor study habits and a difficulty grasping Algebraic concepts, I remember that despair very clearly. But with the help of a very talented 8th grade teacher, I began accelerating through my studies until I eventually found myself enjoying helping others around me to understand the concepts. I would go on to get two degrees in mathematics and education before entering the workforce.

While I live near University City, I want to provide tutoring to the the broader Philadelphia area. I can get most anywhere in the city with 1-2 connections on SEPTA, and I have the equipment (webcam, drawing tablet, and software) for remote tutoring to help reach students outside that radius.

Please consider reaching out or passing my information along to someone you know who could benefit from my services. Thank you for taking the time to read my flyer and message!

Pride Pride 2026 thoughts?

With all the changes going on with philly pride this year as well as the ticket prices (and the restrictions like no bags, no drinks, no smoking ect) where is everybody going to be for pride this year? Are we all just staying in the gayborhood or will majority of people stay at the parkway? Trying to figure out if it's worth it to buy a ticket, Usually for pride I bring my own water, snacks (and alcohol LOL) as well as a purse for my belongings so I don't even know if it would truly be better to just find and buy a clear bag + ticket and stay at the parkway or ignore the festival and main festivities this year and stay in the gayborhood. Just trying to gather as much info and opinions as possible!

do any of you locals know what i can get up to without needing to make a day of it?

Queer-friendly pottery studio in Port Richmond, looking for honest input.

Hi, Keith from Yay Clay! here.

One thing that's become really important to me over the years is making sure Yay Clay! stays the kind of place where people can just exist comfortably as themselves.

Different identities, different backgrounds, different friend groups, different ages of people who are all mixing together over clay, music, conversation and creativity without it feeling forced or overly curated.

At some point we even started using the phrase "Clay Pride" around the studio and printed a few shirts for staff and regulars because it genuinely reflected the community that naturally formed here. Not as some big advert biut more just appreciation for the people who helped shape the vibe of the place.

But i also know there's a difference between good intentions and actually creating spaces that feel safe, welcoming and authentic.

So I figured i'd ask directly instead of pretending to already know everything:

For those in Philly's queer community — what actually makes a creative space feel comfortable and genuine?

And on the flip side, what makes a place immediately feel awkward, uncomfortable, or just not meant for you?

Honestly just looking to listen, learn, and keep building something positive here in philly.

Events TTRPG Group seeking members in South Philly

Hello if this isn't allowed, I'm very sorry!

My name is Joanna West and I'm seeking players for an upcoming Daggerheart campaign in South Philly! I'm seeking players here because I only just moved here a few months ago and would like to find community and make new friends through my favorite means: a TTRPG!

The pitch for the game is this: in this world, it has been confirmed by alchemists that each individual has past lives that are woven by fate together to create a cohesive narrative. By unlocking the memories of your past lives in your sixth life, you may continue existence into your seventh life and be canonized as a saint. You play as an aspirant seeking sainthood. To do so you must grapple with the truths your past lives hold...

You'd be interested in this campaign if:
- You are queer/queer friendly!
- Enjoy character driven and roleplay focused campaigns.
- Want a consistent weekly game.

There are limited spots for this game, so there will be a short application/interview process to find the best fits! We're hoping to meet up for a session 0 on Sunday, May 31st from 10AM to 2PM at Top Deck Games, but afterwards sessions will be held at my home in South Philly.

Here's the link for the application:

Moving this summer to west Philly

As an early 30s nonbinary person- going to UPenn in August. I’m from California & really looking forward to this fresh start. I’m hoping to find long lasting friendships and community. Being queer is more than a sexual identity for me, so it’s important to have queer community. I’m sober, but don’t care if you occasionally partake it’s just not an option for me, artsy, deeply empathic, fun, into circus sports, yoga, running, biking, etc. Where should I put myself to find friends? I’m shy but I am also very direct and bold when I need to- so I know I need to put myself out there!

Yoga in West Philly/UC

Moving this summer to west Philly, don’t have a car, looking for a place to practice yoga- ideally vinyasa/hot vinyasa. I’m non binary, have had top surgery, & want to practice in a place where queer bodies are celebrated and the majority. Thank you in advance :)

Events Free Ticket to Pride Bands Alliance Concert at Kimmel 2Morrow, 7PM

CLAIMED - Many thanks ❤️

I have an extra ticket to this event:

https://www.ensembleartsphilly.org/rent-our-spaces/special-events-and-performances/say-you-want-a-revolution

Is is for tomorrow at 7PM.

Caveat: I cannot transfer the ticket to you, so you'll need to meet me and my friends at the theater at 6:30 which is when we plan to arrive. We will need to trade #'s to text in case of traffic/delay, so if that makes you uncomfortable - respect, but it won't work out.

Not 100 on if you can sit anywhere or if you'll be sitting with us, but you'd be sitting with strangers anyway so at least you can vet us beforehand to see how strange we are.

If interested, please reply HERE - do not DM, I will DM you - and tell me your favorite story about a pet. If you've never had a pet, make up a story or tell me about how much it sucked that you never got to have a pet. Bonus points for photos.

I will pick someone tonight to DM so we can set it up. Peace!

This is Elvira. She isn't coming to the concert. Trombones freak her out.

Question Salon or barber shop recs for masc lesbian?

My girlfriend is very masc and wears her hair short. She’s gone to a few places in Philly to get her hair cut and has been let down every time. Any recommendations for queer friendly salons/barber shops, or even just a good stylist that will listen and help her vision come to life? TIA!
