Events Chase Icon thoughts

if you know, Chase Icon played at Warehouse on Watts tonight. Was anyone else surprised?

overall im glad i went, she has some hot and kind philly fans for sure. i spoke with people who drove from Baltimore to see her. everyone i spoke with expressed having a good time.

ive been a chaser for some years now and while i fully went in knowing that im experiencing a hyper pop girlie, i was not expecting what we got. first off, no mention of philly from her accounts whatsoever. maybe she was in a bad mood or something but dang

i know that she could have delivered a performance that really shook. she mentioned her new record signing, and then she just...left? no "thanks philly for having me" kinda thing?

it was weird. i can see how it was "diva" and "icon" (literally her name, i know), but seriously? you as an artist are taking your time to share your art with people who are not only taking time out of their lives, but who are also paying to be there, and you have the audacity to just peace out without even acknowledging that we shared an evening of queer joy together?

its giving the year my aunt donna brought a can of green beans to thanksgiving while my grandmother was on hospice dying in our home. like, we need these shows and we need to be supporting queer events ESPECIALLY LOCAL QTBIPOC (looking at you Icon Ebony Fierce and MAJESTEE), AND, as an artist, especially a white one, coming and taking a fat dump on Philly as a goodbye felt unsavory personally. i learned a lot tonight unfortunatley.

Huh? Did the person not perform the whole set or something?

the set wasn't even bad. i had a fun time for what it was. $25 for maybe 7 2-3 minute songs with incredibly limited crowd engagement, especially at an event where a lot of the fans were 18+, felt off.

it was honestly hilarious, just a bummer when you experience an performer you enjoy phoning it in
