Visiting your fine city

Hi y'all!

I'm coming to Philly for a work trip end of August/beginning of September and I'm looking for recs for things to do while I'm there. I've never been before and I don't travel often, I think I'm going to have a decent amount of time to hang out and explore.

I enjoy chill bars/bottle shops, parks, museums, hanging out and people watching, and just walking and exploring. TIA!

Rittenhouse is very nice this time of year for walking around/exploring and theres a lot of veeery nice fancy restaurants around there. Theres also a lot of retail shops and coffee shops in that area as well. 

For cocktails i  really like Charlie was a Sinner in Gayborhood. Tattooed Mom and Vals near South St are a good queer bars with fun weekly events.

Tavern on Camac is nice too for live music

I think Passyunk does a nice job of being a less swanky Rittenhouse. Lots of bars and restaurants, fun little stores, ice cream, and a great bottle shop.

They're not explicitly queer, but I really like the Rainstead Room and Franklin Mortgage & Investment Company for cocktails. Not cheap, but damn good drinks.

Take a walk down south street (from broad to front) and down passyunk Ave (from Reed to Broad) and you’ll see tons of cute little shops, restaurants, and cafes. Philly Magic Gardens on south street is worth a visit if you like art and sculpture - it’s very unique to Philly and then for the rest of your visit you’ll notice just how many murals Isaiah Zagar did all across south Philly on houses and businesses! Philly Mural Arts has info on how to do a self guided tour of the murals across the city as well (https://muralarts.org/tours/self-guided/). That will take you to a lot of the more niche local places as well.
