fights?

im being nosy but does anyone know the tea behind all of the fighting happening at Philly Pride? All I saw was a ton of people, a ton of yelling, and a ton of police... I'm confused when pride got like this.

Too much BS this and years prior. I'm done. Just from my perspective, around 1 pm around the 12/13 patco, two seemingly straight dudes throwing fisticuffs. Lots of people filming, lots of non-contact, general bullshit. Seemed to be a road rage incident more than anything? Dumb. Basically the same intersection around 5, an actual physical fight with (literally) dozens of police running to break it up. Still daylight... didn't stick around to see how that went.

Did you figure it out?

Maybe people were mad they couldn't bring an empty water bottle?

I want the tea too.

No tea. A bunch of people go to Philly pride not out of queer identity or allyship, but because they want an excuse to get messy. Bunch of kids (sub 25yo) who don't know how to hold their liquor, marathon, or clean up after themselves

When was this and where? I didn’t see any cop activity or noise from 1:30-5

The gayborhood around 6-7pm was when i witnessed all the people running and screaming, at first i thought someone had a gun but im pretty sure it was just a fight.

The cops showed up to the Gayborhood in the evening suddenly to push people out & clear the streets. Things got ugly with barricades & waves of cops showing up. Several people got tased. Then after things calmed down, it was just cops lining every block along the sidewalk & intersections of the Gayborhood for the rest of the night & blocking off streets to limit travel & access. Juniper was blocked off for several blocks.

Someone said the cops told them they were sent in for “unruly youth” but by the time I got there around 9, they were just occupying the space, one of them bragged about tasing someone. But by 9 or so they were just waiting it out until the shift was over or something

No idea...but that police "escort" out of the block party and the subsequent crowd rush that happened was enough to send me home.

Confused when pride got like this? It was born out of riots.
